I haven't posted images here for a while, so I might as well. :U

Main update on the world entrance, a new tileset.. (Do note, this are from the wiki article on Sonic Retro, hence the arrows on one of them.)

You start off here.

Save slots, with arrows. :3

No more options, it's a no-save slot now.

I wanna live on the casino bay!

say goodbye and then fly away

I could hang around for years

but i can't see no reason for staying

here another day!

I wanna stretch out underneath the sun

It's time for you to be the lonely one

Well I guess I ain't the only one,

the only one who ever felt this way

Goodbye baby!

that's looks cool sockman, kinda cheese like, which makes sense as it would capture air bubbles while cooling etc... whatever, it's fine. the only issue is if it was cooled magma, it wouldn't be red hot like that and still have grass growing on it, so i'd either make it more grey (more cooled), or swap out the grass, but apart from being 'unrealistic' it looks fine

The rocks below aren't really supposed to be cooled lava, at least not recently cooled lava.

I'm taking inspiration from various volcanic locales I've been looking at on Wikipedia and Google Images.

Here, for instance, grass has managed to grow despite the volcano being apparently active.

Sunset21.JPG

Plant life begins returning a while after the lava has cooled, making the grass top a bit more believable, IMO. The color I chose over a more greyish one so to match better with the mountain background.

It's a bit silly, perhaps, to put so much thought into some tilework of a Click project (a Klik fan-project, for that matter), but I think personal touches like these make our projects more than just mere imitators of an established franchise.

I'd lower the saturation in the ground tiles a bit, but it's fine otherwise. The "wtf are you doing" made me lol.

Yeah, the thing is that first you start spinning...and spinning...and once you start going really fast then, "WTF ARE YOU DOING?" as if saying that you've been basically doing nothing for the past minute.

Tossed in some foliage detail to break up repetition.

Something's off about the surfacing here, and I can't quite figure it out. I'm noticing a difference in style/lighting.

That, and every graphic in there seems to draw attention from the viewer to itself, as in, each graphic tends to rob attention. Be it the darker, warmer color of the stepping ground, the slightly cooler but much lighter rocks below the ground, the dark brown emptiness of the background, and henceforth.

Problem with the lava is that I believe it should go from red to yellow downwards, not yellow to red. The hotter lava is the more bright yellow it is, and the cooler it is the redder it gets. Therefore the surface shouldn't be yellow.

add some shadows under the grass and the burned ground(?).

Also, some more decorations Over the grass(like rock pillars) and the burned ground(?).

About the surface.. try adding some similar colors, I guess..
