Spike
The Green Hill Zone is way too dull and boring. Add some more bulging tiles, trees, flowers, whatever. Edit: Just realized that Sonic looks enormous on the Azure Lake tiles.
Armada
Yeah, I know. Level design comes before decoration for me. I'd make the tiles larger, but when I size the ALZ tiles up it looks ridiculous.
Spike
Sonic's intro boss Random level shot This old gimmick Tails' intro level
Armada
Great job on the Tails intro level. The tree looks better in Sonic's level, it's no longer bloated.
Spike
Thank you! I was thinking of making Sonic in his Super form following tails in the plane, like they still have the emeralds from S3&K with them, but then losing them after the intro is over. And the trees, I will probably animate them, making them dance to the upbeat music of the level.
Armada
Wonderful idea. The dancing trees would remind me of the little plants that do that in Botanic Base (Chaotix).
Mark the Echidna
Pretty good, Spike! On that different loop gimmick, the ground could be distorted to look more 3d-ish. Also, on the Tails' intro level, you could add some shadows under the metal parts. I know it's from Sonic 2, but it always seemed too flat for me. Armada
Trying a new BG. What do you think? I didn't change the snow because it looks like moonlight is reflecting off of it. But where's the moon?
Andythehedgehog
Alrighty, I'm seriously curious if it's just me who thinks that something doesn't look right in my image, though some people have told me that it's perfectly fine. Anyways, as for the extremely bright checkerboard pattern, I'm planning on fixing that already.
ila
you should adjust the grass tiles to match up to the seaside hill tiles. See? The bricks visible under (behind) the grass are still NGHZ, which makes it looks almost slapped on.

Xoram
It's not that difficult at all, you simply put an invisible collision mask that makes Sonic look like he is walking up that 3Dish slope. Then you let the gimmick override the animation, replacing it with one that fits the movement up the slope. However, if you want to replicate the SCD effect perfectly, you need to make the parallax background move to create the illusion that the camera rotates around the gimmick. Should not be a problem though.

Spike
Actually, that's not how I did it. And I didn't make the parallax move, either. He just runs up and gets lauched from the top. But MSUK, I should be on AIM tommorow. I'm going to bed for now.
Xoram
MSUK, when Sonic moves up the slope you want him to rotate so that you get an overhead view of him as he runs towards the top. The gimmick alternates the running animation of Sonic depending on where he is on the slope.

DimensionWarped
Yes. Much better actually. It did however produce some graphical anomalies with the clouds. Nothing you shouldn't be able to fix with 3 minutes in photoshop though.

VectorSatyr
@Mark: Sonic and Tails also look particularly blurry to me. I'd sharpen their sprites as well.
