TruePowerofTeamwork
[qimg]http://i.imgur.com/rB8P8UY.png[/qimg]I made a startup menu for my game, obviously based/inspired off of/from BTS's startup menu. With sound, you have the option to turn sound either on or off. With Mode, you can choose between story and classic. Classic is playing through the levels as normal, collecting chaos emeralds, etc. Story will do that for you. I'm also going to add a quickplay mode, which allows you to skip levels at will, turn into super sonic at will, (after you beat the game) etc. As you can see, the menu is inspired by BTS, and the options themselves are more like ATS options. I will also add an option for no cutscenes once I make them. I love it! I understand why it's so similar to BTS/ATS, because it's just a generally good idea. Having your menus in a smart way, like another, I don't find to really be copying. Like for example let's say a while back ago, if a console decides to start using CD's, or put a control stick on their controller, and another console decides to do the same it's not really copying. You know what I mean? It's just a generally well-round good idea. If someone had a level in their game called "Horizon Heights" That's copying, because it's not necessarily a good idea, nor a bad, it's just a design choice. And your not using it, because it's a good idea, but to deliberately copy the other. You on the other hand, are just using a good idea, that someone else has done before, and I say that's fine. Does anyone agree? Or am I absolutely crazy? I could be ether.
Jassbec
Wait, turn sound on and off? That seems a little pointless since you can do that using your PC's volume mixer... though i like the general idea of it, my options menu works different but has similar setting (i might even put a sound test because every game needs one!) oh, and by the way, the black on the word mode is different from the black on the background. I did it because of a few things. The most important being, SKYPE! When I'm playing a game (like BTS/ATS) and Skyping a buddy at the same time, it's REALLY loud. Or, if you are listening to something else. The other day, I wanted to listen to a comedian and play ATS at the same time. Can't do that. There's many other reasons as well, but those are the main. Ooh, another one is: The other day, me and ZigZax wanted to race each other in ATS using Skype's share screen. ATS is WAY to loud compared to Skype. So we couldn't race. I love it! Just turn down the volume for just the game, unless your using a Mac, then you'd have to add that. They added the feature to change application-specific volumes since Windows Vista I believe. Most people don't know you can, and most people are to lazy to do that each time. I know I am.

TruePowerofTeamwork
How do you do that? Click the volume icon on the bottom right of your screen, if it is not there, there is a little vertical arrow, press that, and a menu should appear with the icon. For Windows 7 or 8(Not sure about Vista) press: "Mixer". All of the applications will appear in a horizontal menu.

Betaman
How do you do that? Right Click the speaker icon that opens up the volume control and click "Open Volume Mixer", or you could just click "Mixer" at the bottom of the regular volume control. It's pretty good, but the Sonic needs a little bit more sharpness, and saturation.

Sexy, but the top half of Sonic needs more dithering. If you want a cool effect, dither with a color other than purple and see if you like it. OverbounD
Jassbec I think it would look better if you just used Blue for Sonic (similar to Sonic 3) and kept the "got through" shiny.

Jassbec
Sorry for double post but i have this... Here's the Act 1's music: https://soundcloud.com/symphonicgamescloud/caliente-carnival-act-1-for It's Caliente Carnival's Act 1 background i started building. In case you're not aware, Caliente Carnival Zone is a Carnival being built over a desert. Act 1 has more emphasis on the desert. Act 2 has both desert stuff and carnival elements. Act 3 is mostly Carnival/Casino. Please, tell me what other graphics should i use, or just give me general feedback, thank you!
