  1. Star Wars 7 has a name. The Farce Awakens!

  2. It's the speed, momentum and running on ceilings at certain speeds that makes Sonic game engines more difficult. I could program a half decent Mario engine when I was 13, but even to this day at 26 I would still have trouble coding a Sonic engine. That's only the 2D engines though I shutter to think of the 3D ones. So yeah it's THAT much more difficult.
  3. I don't think SA1 and SA2 had shoddy engines. Programming platforming engines that work at high speeds and with the unusual requirements (walking on walls and ceilings) of Sonic games are very difficult to do. It's far more complex than programming an engine for a Mario style game. Mario and Sonic games are like a car vs a rocket. Cars are much more reliable than rockets but don't go nearly as fast. The trade of is rockets tend to blow up.
  4. Awesome release Renhoek. The levels are a lot of fun and the engine feels more polished. Great Work! I cannot wait to see what you come up with for Sagexpo 2015. I went ahead and made an announcement on Sonic United.
  5. I am going to have to say Rap or Hiphop. I used to be large into Alternative and Classic rock in high school. But after a while it all started to sound the same and I moved on.
  6. Yeah it really does look great. Very professional looking, has a great art style.
  7. No problem, I posted it on reddit, Google+, SAGExpo Facebook page and Twitter too. Promoting games like this is my main goal for SU/SFGHQ.
  8. That looks awesome I love the sharp contrast in the background elements and the water. How will the blocks of water work? Do you sink in them?
  9. R2 is really looking amazing. I am really looking forward to trying it out.
  10. It took me all night but I manages to figure out how to load backgrounds from Game Maker externally. This should make Time Twisted a lot less resource intense.

  11. I never thought I'd become a programmer at Fortune 500 company.

  12. Got a 90% on my first corporate finance test. Hell yeah, now I can slowly coast downhill to a comfy C lol.

My math class is going smooth so far. I caught on to Ratios pretty quick.

  13. God Damn Replublicrats! Two years ago: Hey lets give the Middle East lots of weapons so they can defend themselves! Two years later: The middle east somehow got a hold of American weapons and we have to stop them, by killing them with our weapons.

My school schedule alone isn't bad but Corporate Finance class has to be the most time consuming class I have ever taken. Then work on top of that ugh it's just a lot of work.

It is the bane of my existence! But I figure it is easier than being a Computer Science major and taking Calculus 1 and 2.

  15. Sega has job openings very similar to a job I'm up for. Which means I could probably land a job at Sega once I graduate.

I'd be working on SQL databases for games that Relic makes. Please understand I am not even applying for the position at this point, I can't move to San Francisco right now. But it reaffirms my choice as Computer Information Systems and all my work with my website and game projects.

  16. Bigger models are less taxing by far. If you build a level out of "legos" then each lego has 6 sides assuming we're talking about rectangles. Where if you build a single large model you only draw the sides actually seen by the player.
  17. A few people said they'd make archives. I'm not sure if they did or not. I couldn't keep the SAGExpo server up any longer because it was too expensive. In the future we'll have SFGHQ to keep all the games on. I'm working on it as fast as I can, it's even taking priority over Time Twisted. Most of the download links can be found in Mercury's reviews on SU.org for now.
  18. I have a memory of being about 7 years old and playing Sonic 3 at my grandmothers house with debug mode on. I remember thinking how unique Sonic was compared to other platformers and thought about how I wanted to make a game like that. That thought never went away, so I guess I am trying to fulfill a childhood dream.
  19. That sucks, I'm dealing with limitations of GM and processing level tiles myself. Makes me want to start using monogame and C#. I personally do not think that anyone is truly creative. I am of the opinion that all of human invention was inspired by observing nature. I feel everything humans make is derivative from that. In the end I think what is important is not what inspired you but what you do with that inspiration.
  20. Looking very impressive, the level seems large and full secretes. The physics leave something to be desired though. It's probably stock SonicGDK in that regard, but Sonic seems very heavy and sluggish.
  21. it's hard to say what caused it. It could be that you just don't have enough memory to run the game. The final game will take up a lot less memory and hopefully that will fix it.
