DimensionWarped
In general. It works for Megaman X games, and it worked in Mario games. But the Sonic concept requires you to interact with the environment in a variety of ways to keep things fresh. Think Sonic 2.

I would like that very much. =D
Slingerland
OK...you and Khorney better be friends or else that was just some straight up dickery.
Ryan Cordel
No offense ment really. Just incase it was hard to understand.
Khorney
well, i have no beef with ryan, it was quite a retarded post =P i didnt just mean sprites, i meant his powers and stuff as well, as they are rather funk tastic. although, upon reflection, i imagine that might be more complicated as there is no way to charge up your chaos gauge at present...hmm... Sonic 3 Lock-On with Sonic & Knuckles for the win.

Ryan Cordel
"whaaaaaaaaaa?!" Anyway. I partially agree with Azu however, I do prefer S3&K over S1 and S2 solely because of the fun and replayability S3K gives. But then, Sonic 2 is still fun in some senses. tentril
Azu is right, but Sonic 2 was alright.
DimensionWarped
I'm just going to say... what the hell is wrong with you guys? Sure, Sonic 3 and Knuckles was the pinnacle, but you got billed for it twice. On their own, both Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles get completely pimp slapped and anally raped by Sonic 2. tentril
Are you kidding? The only thing that S3&K adds over the seperate games is Knuckles in S3 and Hyper modes. Seperate they still rocked Sonic 2's socks off.
DimensionWarped
Hardly. Sonic 2 had so many more levels that you'd have to be crazy to think that either S3 or SK competed with it individually. Individually, each of them lack the sheer volume needed to outclass Sonic 2. Rael0505
The length of a game doesn't determine its quality. Sonic 2 is my least favorite of the genesis games (excluding spinball and 3d blast). Not saying it's bad of course.
Asuma
I just don't like the way it looked.
Rael0505
I didn't like the overall theme of a lot of the levels, particularly Oil Ocean (would've been an excellent level otherwise) and Mystic Caves personally. Levels like Emerald Hill, Aquatic Ruins, Casino Night, and Hill Top were sextastic though.
DimensionWarped
As much as extreme volume isn't always an enhancing characteristic, it is a detrimental characteristic when looking at Sonic 3 or Sonic and Knuckles alone. They were developed to be a single game and it shows.

They were developed to be a single game and it shows. I'll admit that Sonic & Knuckles had the stink of 'splitapartitis' - No save option that was already introduced? No Tails? - but Sonic 3 can clearly take on Sonic 2... hell, any 16bit Sonic game on its own and still fare well.
Slingerland
When did this turn into fighting about the Genesis Sonic games. They're all great. Now, how about Blaze's fangame?
