Felik
There are so many things to bitch about in Sonic 4 that zones' names don't even bother me.
FanGameRevolver
So I listened to the soundtrack, Mad gear zone has incredible tracks, lost labyrinth is good, casino street is just annoying, and splash hill is meh at best. boss music 1 is annoying. boss music 2 is very nice. the special stage feels too casual...it should be 'special'. but that's just my opinions. the music is just so inconsistent...they could have easily put more into the weaker tracks. Slingerland
I wish the tracks would use different instrumentation. Each one uses the same synths, same Genesis percussion samples, and same generic flair. In other words: they're mad lame. I bet if somebody re-arranges them into something like that rock remix or the 16-bit remix, the song will find a way to become catchy. Jun's killin' his own work with his repetitive and shitty choice of instruments.
Serephim
they likely gave him some certain kind of sound to work towards. This is the second game by Sonic Team where it hires amazing composers for a game, and for some reason the music is significantly less awesome than it was in the previous works. And I dont get the hatred for "it has a nice beat". If this was a Soulja Boy or Travis Porter song yeah you can be annoyed....videogame songs usually dont even have lyrics, so they're nothing really but something you can bob your head to in one way or another. Sonic 2 / 3&K had very, very catchy sounding songs.
Aaron C-T
the special stage feels too casual...it should be 'special'. Aww, c'mon. It's based on the original special stage music.
tentril
Beats and lyrics are not the only parts of a song, and it makes me want to kill myself hearing you say such a thing. Even without singing, there has to be a melody. To make the melody sound better, you write harmonies around it, a cool bass line, little extra thingies in between so it isn't boring. I'm fine with a song having a nice beat, but if you only mention that, you didn't listen to the music. If the song was just a beat, it would be a fucking drum loop. BTW, I wouldn't be annoyed if you said Soulja Boy songs had a nice beat. Thats all those songs are.

tentril
I was just explaining why just mentioning a beat is annoying because he asked. I'm sure it would bug other people if someone liked a background because it had their favorite color green in it. EDIT: I was going to add some on-topic comments, but it appears that the songs were removed.
Daniel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggS8xVenXfY Watch now before SEGA gets it removed. Also... 1:28 Sonic 3&K 1up sound! 8D
tentril
Eww, I saw Sonic walk up at least two walls. Is he Spiderman or something? It looks fun, but at the same time, I see the dumb flying enemy homing attack thing going on and like half of the level was springs pushing him around. tentril
Speed shoes defy gravity now?
DimensionWarped
If it's a quarter-rounded embankment, he'd still be in floor mode, so the extra acceleration might be enough to keep him from slipping. It does look pretty weird though.
FanGameRevolver
so what your saying is sonic is accelerating at the same speed as gravity? That seems a little...odd.
DimensionWarped
Thats not really how it works. Here: http://info.sonicretro.org/SPG:Solid_Tiles
Aaron C-T
Gross. There shouldn't even be any dash panels in there, much less having those and the springs toss you all over the level. Speaking of which this game seems way too fast and the amount of level you're actually seeing is way too small. Every enemy he flails into is like just off screen. $0.
Blyde
Agreed. It looks stupid fast. Without speed shoes. And there are too many boost panels. Argh.
Sparks
The boost panels seem useless, being put in places you're already running. They also turn Sonic into a ball. Seems such an odd concept I'm not sure if it'll work in game play or not. I do like the fact the homing attack chains are used for getting shortcuts and goodies, rather than go over bottomless pits though. The player sucks at Sonic games so badly I can't tell if the levels good or not.

Rawr
I'm still looking forward to it, seems more improved than the last video that was leaked. I like the look of it so far and I noticed that there is an upper path area that wasn't even taken at all, I could see it quite a few times. Graphics have really grown on me, the leaked screens of Lost Labyrinth look nice too. I love the vibe of that level.

If every level follows that convention, cool, good enough. May or may not be the case. Depends on how much they want to emphasize the homing attack. flame6753
Guys, i have made up my mind. The engine isn't retro, level design is cramped and there are too many boosts and speed ups, but this is the best sonic game to be released since like sonic advance 3. I will definitely buy. Kirs
Maybe homming attack and boost pads in Splash Hill are not the best of the game, but who told you that you wont need the hominh attack to survive in mad gear? BTW the first stages are always an introduction to the game. They are easy and without any challenge. But other zones are other stories
Aaron C-T
BTW the first stages are always an introduction to the game. They are easy and without any challenge. But other zones are other stories If by that you mean the first stages always basically toss you through the level. No, no I disagree completely. Have you ever played Sonic 3 or S&K? Kirs
A lot of times xD Compare green hill with scrap brain, emerald hill with oil ocean or metropolis, angel island with marble garden ....
