Rael0505
I saw an episode last night. I was ecstatic, I didn't think they still showed it. 10:30 PM on saturdays if anyone wants to know. I had just said earlier that day that I wanted to watch some DBZ again. Anyway, when I first started watching anime, I liked Sailor Moon (yes, only manly men watch sailor moon), Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing (still one of my all time favorites), a little bit of Tenchi Muyo/whatever the other three were, and maybe others. Later I watched Rurouni Kenshin and Inuyasha, but I sort of lost interest in Inuyasha and Rurouni Kenshin was like taken off the air. Fullmetal Alchemist got me back into anime some years later, but then I stopped watching action anime after. I got more into Elfen Lied (personal favorite), Air TV, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni... Now I watch the sequal to Higurashi and whatever comes on adult swim. I'm sure there are some that I'm missing (edit: like G Gundam). I'm not as avid an anime watcher as I used to be, but I'm anxious for them to finish translating the rest of Higurashi. Edit: Also Shuffle is the best romantic comedy ever. And my girlfriend got me to watch Peach Girl with her, and it was a decent series.
tentril
Anyway back on anime, all you who bash DBZ know that if you saw a good episode right now you would be you-tube'ing it all day.I know. It happened to me a few weeks ago. DBZ may have had alot of talking and crap, but damn it had nice fight scenes. No, Dragonball. Go watch an episode with a fight in it from DB and one from DBZ. Tell me which you think is better.
Ligar
"Powerpole extend!" I remember when I first saw and heard that I was like: Kick-ass! Plus, even though Goku was suppose to lose every tournament except the last one, I still think he was cheated. Damn Milk Truck. Damn Jackie f'ing chun; Aka: Master Roshi. Anyways; my days of anime started with Sailor Moon, (yesh I'm with Rael on that.) Samurai Pizza Cats, Pokemon, Ronin Warriors, and DBZ. I also watched quite a few animes after such as Cyborg 009, Rurouni Kenshin, Dragonball, G Gundam, Detective Conan, (aka: Case Closed) Outlaw Star, Yu Yu Hakusho, eand the list goes on. I saw many. ^^
VectorSatyr
Yeah, all aired on Cartoon Network at one point or another (except Sailor Moon and Samurai Pizza Cats).
Spike
Sailor Moon aired on Toonami, back in '97 or so.
VectorSatyr
Oh, so I guess only Samurai Pizza Cats escaped CN's grasp.

Pheonix Gamma
Anyway, when I first started watching anime, I liked Sailor Moon (yes, only manly men watch sailor moon), Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing (still one of my all time favorites), a little bit of Tenchi Muyo/whatever the other three were, and maybe others. Seconding on the Sailor Moon, only because nothing is on at 6AM before school. I saw the whole series, too, though I remeber almost zero of it, sans the episodes with that demonic tree thing. Later I watched Rurouni Kenshin and Inuyasha, but I sort of lost interest in Inuyasha and Rurouni Kenshin was like taken off the air. RurouKen was cancelled in Japan. The Anime finished the Kyoto Arc, then turned to fillers so that the mangaka could provide more mangas for them to work with. Sadly, it couldn't get away with a year of filler COUGHnarutoCOUGH and was cancelled, while the manga went on and finished it's run. You can buy the translated manga at Waldenbooks and Borders, as it's not too hard to find (I've seen it in pretty much ever bookstore I've been in. It's kinda neat that more stores are adding a Graphic Novel/Manga section.) Really good ending, I must say.
Ligar
Haha almost the same exact thing happened to Inuyasha. Anime off. Manga Finish.

Pheonix Gamma
My life as a teenage...robot...X? Chobits? I never watched Chobits, but I know it has a female robot thing with an on switch on her vajay-jay, and I know there's romance, cause it's CLAMP. Guest Shadix
No, Dragonball. Go watch an episode with a fight in it from DB and one from DBZ. Tell me which you think is better. QFT. (Dragonball was badass in that the show wasn't really a muscle fight. I can only hope that Naruto doesn't lose it's remarkable character balance in the future.) Now, you hear me complaining about DBZ but I also watched most of the show, from Freeza Saga all the way to the end, with Fat Buu being the baddest badass ever. There were parts where the show was better, notably in the sub-arcs between supervillians. Although we are also leaving out Dragon Ball GT... Which I haven't watched enough to put a stereotype on, but there is definitely alot more adventuring.

The fights are great, but I'm gonna agree with seraph and spike (OMFG!!!) and say fuck you all, DBZ had some amazing fight scenes...and that's what kept me loving the series. The story was alright and kept the series chugging, and yes, I'm not going to lie to you and tell you that some of it wasn't drawn out, but it rarely suffered from fillerama, except for the garlick Jr. arc. And let's not get started on GT, that show tried so hard to be like 80 different things... Anyways. I started my anime run watching samurai pizza cats on WB, then they started playing DBZ on WB early in the mornings...I was hooked. Then came sailor moon and dbz marathons...and then tenchi muyo. I skipped the inuyasha craze (thank god). So DBZ will always hold a place in my heart...as much as you all bash it. Also..I'm getting tenkaichi 3, which is going to pwn. DimensionWarped
Dragon Ball had better fights because they didn't all involve long sessions of grunting and moaning to fill the half hour. Seriously, every fight in DBZ past the first two is like a long-winded 5+ episode gay porn video. If you just swapped the soundtrack and closed your eyes, you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference.

DimensionWarped
You know what would help DBZ be more interesting? Code Red Mountain Dew. That stuff gives just the right amount of diahrea to break up constipation.
