Strife
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUMizx22PaI Careful, it's loud. But yeah, this shows about half of Dragon Valley Act 1. ^^ I recorded this before I started work on the spider badnik, so you won't get to see that just yet unfortunately. Chronic - I'd say it went very well. It's so much bigger and nicer here than in our old place, so we want to do everything we can to keep it. VirtAnderson
Wow, nice gameplay so far. The half-corkscrew physics look a little off, but other than that, it's good!

This is incredibly impressive! Looks incredibly fun and the gimmcks and combat look really natural. Title card looks loads better as well. Can't fault it! Well done Strife! OverbounD
That looks extremely nice Strife. The level design looks really solid. I have never seen you make something Sonicy so I'm especially impressed.
Rawr
Wow this is like an awesome cross between Ristar and Sonic. Wicked job on this, I also love all the little extra animations for almost everything. It really adds a lot of life to the game. Good job!
Hybrid35
fff...It's so cool I love the somewhat flame-sheild like boost in the air. nice job
Serephim
I've never seen Ristar, but im definitely feeling the Rocket Knight going on too lol. Awesome stuff!
Strife
Whoa, the feedback was a lot more positive than I imagined. Thanks everyone! I'm glad that it's going in the right direction. Virt - I hear you there. I'm wondering if it would help if I shrunk the player's sprite a little bit as they're moving into it... Maybe I can look at how Sonic Advance does it again. Rawr/Seraph - Ristar is definitely an inspiration for me. Rocket Knight was more of a coincidence, but I really like how Sash's boost ended up similar to Sparkster's. Kindof a melting pot of various Sega Genesis games, no? I just realized that I've only been working on this for two weeks, so with that in mind, I'm pretty satisfied with the progress so far. With my hiatus starting tomorrow, it's time for me slow down and take a break before I burn myself out. While I'm away, I'll put some more thought into the story and setting since that's something I've been struggling with for the past few days. When I've got my real life sorted out and I'm ready to get back to work, I'll hopefully have a fresh set of ideas to work with. See you in a few weeks!
ECLIPSc70
That was awesome! It looked like a sonic game but at the same time it didn't which was pretty wierd...But not a bad thing at all! I really liked the music too, it gave that dragon- like vibe; whos the musician? BlazefireLP
I cannot express how amazing this is Strife. You've really outdone yourself this time. This looks so good to my eyes that'd I'd be willing to buy it if you was selling it. I wouldn't of been able to tell it was Worlds if it wasn't for the SoundEffects and you telling us it was. +Rep. Strife
Eclipsc - Thanks! The music I used in the video is Battle on the Holy Plane from Dragon Seeds. Ideally I'd like to get an original soundtrack composed, but for now I'll carefully choose some fitting placeholders. Xero, Blaze, Blaze - Thank you! =D A little under a week left until I can continue working on the game, but for now, I have a little trick-or-treat for you MMF2 users. The file I've attached to this post contains an example of how I used trigonometry to make a multi-segmented enemy - specifically, the aforementioned spider badnik. I'd love to see more segmented badniks and bosses in fangames, so hopefully this helps in some way. Happy Halloween! trig_spider.mfa

Strife
Alright, I'm back from my hiatus. To kick things off: Concept art of the main villain, Dr. Brevon. His nature contrasts sharply with the other villains, though I haven't decided how yet. As for the game, I was in the middle of working on Act 1's boss fight when I left, so I'll pick up there and see where things go.

Rawr
oh man I can't stop laughing at that edit, it looks like Eggman is opening his mouth with two big teeth haha. The actual design though is pretty cool, but I can't help but feel he would fit better in a Megaman game rather than a Sonic game in terms of his style. Then again the fan characters kind of open up the doors to a little bit of different stuff in the first place I guess.
Strife
xD Win. Anyway, yeah, my characters often end up with Megaman-esque gear, though I usually don't do it on purpose. I'm thinking I could tweak his body in the final design to look more organic. On a different note, I managed to fix the Worlds engine so that I can check 'Handle background collisions out of window' without glitches. The issues were mostly tied to the camera system locking on to the Player object, so I just had it zone in on the FloatX and FloatY values instead. Also, it just occured to me that the only extension left that's not Flash compatible is the Value Add object, which is required for handling pushable blocks and floating platforms. I'm gonna see if there's another way to achieve what ValueAdd does, just for kicks.
thesuperinvader
Eclipsc - Ideally I'd like to get an original soundtrack composed well, im a musician and i signed up for an account just to ask this, could i try making a soundtrack for this? the game looks awesome samples of original work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8fAStv6k8w - my band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7IOdnmrUIc - music for a fan game by chishado samples of remix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Px8-XkSHrSc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVnnEeIi5yc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8IkY92RsFE well thats some samples hope you like it and consider me for the project
Strife
Coincidentally, I was browsing some of your stuff last week. Your instruments sound excellent, and the fact that you use real guitars is awesome. I think it's a little too early in development to make a final decision on who I should collaborate with, but until then, I'll definitely keep you in consideration. So, to answer your question, not quite yet. In any case, thanks for sharing! From what I can gather so far, I would want the soundtrack to be spunky and feminine with a pinch of mysticism, sorta like NiGHTS Into Dreams or some of the tracks from the US version of Sonic CD. Though again, it's still too early for me to figure out if that's what would be best, so I should probably wait until I have some more zones, concept art, and perhaps a web page before I decide what exactly I need. Strife
If you want to experiment by using Dragon Valley as a source of inspiration, then by all means, gofer it. ^^ Just bear in mind that I may not actually use it until I figure out what I need. Strife
That piano track is definitely the catchiest part, and it's not a bad concept at all.... but I'm having a hard time imagining the song being used for this stage. Since DV is the very first stage of the game in which the adventure is just beginning, I was thinking that something lighter and more triumphant would work better, with a slightly bigger variety of instruments. I don't want to imply that it's bad - it's actually one of your best original compositions so far! It's just not quite what I'm looking for. (Though it has motivated me to work harder on getting Act 2 finished up, so I must thank you for the burst of inspiration. ^^)
