True Blue
Hi. I'm using MMF2 and I wanted to know how to make Sonic look up and making the camera move up, and how to make him look down and make the camera move down. If anyone can help me, I'll appreciate it. And btw, I'm using actions. (jumping -1; rolling - 2, and so on)
Ayling
You ever hear of sonic worlds? study the camera actions. Or do it the cheap way and use a ball movement and make it move up and down when you press the buttons.
Serephim
there is SO a website that goes with this forum.
Rael0505
Hey, there's this really cool website called Sonic Fangames HQ. Here's the address: http://www.sonicfangameshq.com/ Look for a tutorial there. That place has loads of them! Seriously though, always check the main site before asking for help. If you already checked the site and you're just confused with a tutorial, ask what you don't understand specifically.
True Blue
Which tutorial really teaches how to make this? At least, intendedly? I'm studying Sonic Worlds, but it's too complex to adapt to my game.

True Blue
http://sfghq.emulationzone.org/view_info.php?sec=4&id=54Click, and behold! You're welcome. It seems that I can't open it. It must be lack of extensions. Anyway, I don't think it works very well. I might as well go with Sonic Worlds. But thanks. I found where it is in Sonic Worlds.9. Interface and post-processing methods and then to 12. Camera Oops! I can't find it. It's not where you say it is. Maybe we have different versions. Can you at least describe it for me? Events, objects...

True Blue
I'm mostly concerned about the commands. I literally can't make the character look up or down. It's not just a camera issue. When I press up or down, the character just goes back to the first frame of the stopped animation. I must remember you that I'm using actions (like in Sonic Worlds), and so, i must use them when I'm going to create a command for the character. I think. Ayling
Copy-paste from Worlds then. I believe it's under "Actions" that shows you. Worlds also has an animation value. "Animation" and "AnimAngle", I believe. [They're in the red octogon with the "O" on it.]
Ayling
Sorry for the double post, but this engine was lurking my drives. It has a good example of both of what you want. http://www.sonicfangameshq.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=517&stc=1&d=1192830239 I didn't make it, but rep for finding it'dd be nice Demo.zip

True Blue
Just for the heck of it, could someone explain to me the theory of making the character look up and down with the animations and all? I've taken a look at the program, and it's kinda hard to understand. I think I need someone to assist me on this... And in case anyone can help me, I feel the need of having some kind of guide. I always worked very well with them. It's easier to understand them, than just looking at the engine's events, you know? A guide of how to make a Sonic game with several programs, MMF2 in my case. One that teaches us the basics, and then tells us how to upgrade. But needs to be understanding for everyone. I'm very rookie, so I'd need one. Now there needs to be someone wiling to make one. Ayling
Umm, you've been shown 3 engines and do you actually use them? The 2nd one I showed you has a group called Animations. If you're confused by these things, start out with Worlds. It's easy to program for, and well described.
TRD
True blue, are you serious? Looking up and down is...easy. What engine are you using, worlds? If not I can whip up a tutorial for you. But if so, it should already be in there.
Spike
Just for the heck of it, could someone explain to me the theory of making the character look up and down with the animations and all? Well, I can't help you since it's MMF, but I can tell you my concept behind it. In GM, I make a separate object for the camera. It usually stays stuck on Sonic the entire time, except if certain conditions are met. If Sonic is stopped and on action 0 while the Player is holding up, then the camera gradually rises. Comprende? TRD
Exactly what I was gonna do, but in MMF style. =P I think you're being lazy True blue, and want someone to do the work for you. Seriously, look at the tutorials Aylingling showed you, and actually try out some of the techniques.
LarkSS
You know what? Let me tackle this. This shouldn't take more than half an hour to make a tutorial on.
