Aaron C-T
Like Stardust Speedway: it's a speedway in the sky... and Wacky Workbench: it is a bouncing workbench... But I can't really say what Rainbow Runaway is, if it had some sense (ie.: it's a highway... it's a mountain) then it would look awesome. Nitemare, maybe if you have any dazzling drops or something coming out of a loop or something of the sort, you could have a Rainbow kind of appear between the clouds? Caramel Cod: If you had made that post originally there wouldn't of been a problem. And, yes, "constructive criticism" is in the rules. Read them, eh? Caramel Cod
OK, I'm glad you guys admitted you were wrong on this one. Please don't let it happen in the future. And maybe familiarize yourself with the rules again. Also, I think instead of stars you should maybe put a sphere with a square pattern on it, just like in Sonic CD's special stage. Cyber Rat
(I apologize to Nite and the mods for the offtopic) Caramel, 'needs improvement' has too broad a meaning and can be applied to anything. Everything needs improvement, every game on this site, and everyone knows this. The fact that you're stating the obvious and not helping at all just makes everyone jump the gun and fill this topic with stuff not related in any way with the actual game because we are too busy criticizing the quality of your posts instead of the quality of the game. Slingerland
OK, I'm glad you guys admitted you were wrong on this one. Please don't let it happen in the future. And maybe familiarize yourself with the rules again. I'm just about ready to take your ass out. Read our rules and do not derail Nitemare's topic again. Do not ever come down on us again. You're 5 posts into your membership and you're telling us what to do when you're the one breaking the rules? Get over yourself. (On a side note, nobody here admitted that we were wrong, so you lose again.) Contribute to the discussion. "Needs improvement" doesn't do anything for the discussion. If you're not going to say anything worthwhile, then just don't post. That's just how this forum works, even if it is not written down for you in the rules, as it should be expected. If you feel the need to whine about it some more, I have a nice trip to Zombocom waiting for you.
Asuma
You know, seeing someone else doing it does make it seem really annoying. One word replies and all.
Slingerland
You know, seeing someone else doing it does make it seem really annoying. One word replies and all. Now you know the pain. We might as well change the name of said action from "Azu'd" to "Cod'd." To be on-topic here, there was a little chat about just how psychedelic the rainbow level should be. I found it intriguing that Nite chose blacks and grays to be the foreground of rainbow topped platforms. It certainly is different, that's for sure, and I like it. Same for the casino level with its monochromatic, sand-colored foreground. I'm used to bright lights and colors everywhere, but not in this level. The changes to what we are used to seeing in these "level cliches," or whatever you choose to call them are tight.
Asuma
The one thing that gets me is the corkscrews. I would suggest that htye fit the theme of the level. For an example, the one for Aqua Shine could be stone with some grass on it instead of checkered.
Aaron C-T
^ Agreed. The one for Rainbow Runway, on the other hand, can stay a checkboard, if you just make each line of squares in the checkerboard a different color, the way you've done the ground tiles. Rael0505
And the tiles for Aqua Shrine I made for Aerosol ages ago, he sent me them the other day and said he doesn't think he'll use them. Wasn't gonna let them go to waste. Haha, I noticed. I like the floating island UFO thing too, by the way. By the way, I've seen Blazefire steal your work before. I'd suggest you make your photobucket private (he's stolen my work through photobucket as well)

Spike
I think that this is the only time I've seen Advance sprites and not thought "Eww". They're amazing here. And I love how you've brought back TV screens instead of those stupid post-Adventure balloons powerups come in.

Khorney
lookin' good, that's sum tasty level art - quick thing that struck me - your background rocks on your lava level should perhaps be a tad darker, i can see people mistaking them for platforms
Rael0505
Okay, just did some clean-up. Any further discussion about caramel cod will be deleted. So, Nitemare, you ever use my suggestions about the balloons I discussed with you a few months back? You should make them a necessary part of a level (to navigate through spiked walls or something). Kind of like Sonic 2 game gear's Sky High act 2, except not as evil.

GSF
Offtopic story: I hate the barrel... it made shut off the Genesis outraged. And some time later... I was checking out a drawer, looking for something that I can't remember, and found a Mega Play magazine. Way old. Anyway, I read it... and found the full Sonic 3 review. How convenient, they had half a page for each zone, filled with tips and whatever. Anyway, when I saw the Carnival Night section, I looked at the screenshot of the 'barrel of doom'. It had the following caption: 'Press Up and Down to move these barrels!' (or something like it). ...I grabbed the Genesis controller, got to CNZ, and pressed Up and Down repeatedly until I made it through. That was the first time that I really got furious over a videogame. Heck, I was about 4 or 5 years old back then. ...I still have that magazine, I think. I'll check if I can scan that part Back on the topic, the level art is awesome. And yeah, this is possibly the first fangame to use Advance sprites that looks simply awesome in the graphic section. Keep it up!
LarkSS
Couldn't help but leave in my comment; sorry! I remember when I got to the barrel. My brother had never gotten past it so I figured I was pretty much stuck. Then, I started to learn how to jump on it at certain times to get it to go lower. Eventually, I actually managed to get to the bottom; I couldn't believe it. Of course, I died like, 6 seconds after. I don't think I touched Sonic 3 for 5 years after that... I sorta feel like the backgrounds that use anti-aliasing, like in Rainbow Runaway, feel like they're distant from the advance style. It might just be me, and though I think the backgrounds look better with anti-aliasing, it just doesn't seem like they fit entirely. I need to stop nit-picking and learn to love. =[

Cyber Rat
Offtopic story: I actually managed to get passed the barrel by accident. I was doing the same thing Lark did, only at one point I got so pissed that I pressed the jump button twice and turned into Super Sonic, and since you have the special 6 frame animation, while the barrel was going up, it went through me, and I ended up under the barrel. It might just be me, and though I think the backgrounds look better with anti-aliasing, it just doesn't seem like they fit entirely. I do believe that that is a little bit too much nit-picking. The backgrounds look find to me.

Nitemare
Haha, I must be one of few lucky people who didn't have any trouble with the barrel when I was younger. A mate of mine has never actually played Ice Cap just cause he could never do Carnival Night, he couldn't believe it when I told him. ;P And don't worry about nitpicking Lark, I'm a bit of a perfectionist myself so it's all good. And thanks for clearing up Mr. Cod Rael, and since I've been working on the Casino Bay background again I'm gonna try to incorporate the balloons somehow into the level more. Not sure how as of yet but I like the idea of involving the boss. This is what i've been messing with so far, nothings final as of yet (mainly the far background, there's too much city for my liking atm) but it's the general feel I want the level to have. It's hard mixing a casino and a bay together. :E Nitpick away!
Asuma
I actually cried on the barrel part. I'm not lying. Dead serious. I stopped playing for like a week. Nitemare, might want to fix this part here.
