SupaChao
Lets not forget. Almost everyone here, is doing these things: -Using MMF/TGF/Game Maker -Using Damizeans engine Ok. Now, sonicteam codes everything themselves. Sonic Team does everything they can so people will enjoy their games, and if you don't thats too bad. But no one here is qualified to say "our fangames are better than sonicteams" because if you look at, their not, at all (despite the fact some arent well done, and most dont get finished). We take things from sonicteam, take their ideas, their characters, then turn around and say; their ideas suck. Hm. Cute. Sonicteam, kicks the ass out of the people here. and if they wanted to; youd never use their characters again. Mr. Ksoft: looks interesting actually, nice to see classic sprites :3 Now show more. =D
Zonar Games
Orly? I've seen maybe.. 2 or 3 good ones, that have lasted longer than a month.Your screens are decent, easier judged if not x2 though. In the second picture, why does the water stop at one point? Doesn't foreground water run forever? ala; sonicteams games The third shot, you just need work on the rights, their not all spinning in sync. inside the loop. Otherwise, all seems pretty decent, nice. The games as you probally know it's resolution runs 640x480 and it might not be the final resolution. Yeah I just saw that the water needs to run across so thats something I do need to fix. Ok. Now, sonicteam codes everything themselves. Sonic Team does everything they can so people will enjoy their games, and if you don't thats too bad. And they use more gimmicks in there game that we probally can't code. So I do give them credit for that. lol i dunno lately sonic team has been pumping out crap games like sa pezz despenser They have and there engines are obviously better than ours. _______________________________________________________ And by the way here is another screen of my fan game Sonic Revolution: Shadow lost in Dusty Desert
ssbfalcon
I'm liking most of what I see here... hmm... just to make a presence as we do have some newbies here (and people who didn't see them the first time...) Yes, these were posted in the old boards... I know... All from Sonic's Vacation... The SAGE demo will (hopefully) show a lot more... At the very least, the first 2 stages and boss... Let's just say, you'll never fight bosses the same way twice in this game*prepares tetris boss match AI*...

Andrew
That's possibly my very most favourite Sonic sprite ever. Good job, SSB, it's looks excellent.
Zonar Games
That is an awsome looking game. I like the graphics and the reflection in the pool. This might be the best year for Sonic fan games since we have more technology and resources.

Terid Kane
ssbfalcon, you did a really good job on retexturing those backgrounds. BF, the casino theme is so old... But the bgs are nicely done.
BlazeHedgehog
lol i dunno lately sonic team has been pumping out crap games like sa pezz despenser Doesn't matter. I still haven't seen a fangame that would honestly stand up to being released as an official Sonic game - not even the legendary Time Attacked or even SRB2 is good enough. Fangames are usually only impressive because they're fangames. You think, "Wow, a fan did this? That's amazing." But in the land of retail games, we'd get shredded to pieces, nit picked for every single little flaw that people here at SFGHQ are going to ignore, because it's a fangame, and we don't expect professional quality from a fangame. Wow, and I thought I was the only one that thought that way. =o Retextured backgrounds look nice except for the hills that look like a cardboard cut-out. Is the Sonic 3D Blast level supposed to be the local swimming pool? The casino places always do annoy me, but I think you can get away with that. Nice backgrounds and I hope to see some foreground scenery. ( Can't really say if there is any from those screenshots )
ssbfalcon
Blue Frenzy... You are still amazing at backgrounds and overall graphic style in your games... I do think though, that soon, we'll see 2d fangames that rivial or even beat the quality of Sonic Team's, but at that time, it will be probably a year or so and we'll see a lot of 3d fangames being worked on. Now before I get distracted again... I'm going to clean up Tails' AI a bit more...
SupaChao
It would be longer than a year, sure they might visually surpass sonicteam, but thats about it; matching their talent, wont be done for a long time. I also doubt that 3D fangame thing; everyone leeches engines off someone else, and its hard to build a 3D engine, and its complexity isnt simple to understand, so you'd end up with idiots asking for someone elses engine (..thats not very new) and models, and everything else Much more work in 3D; 3D doesnt get passed out to the grabby public, unless the person is nice enough, and even then, its usually just a model. Frenzy: I wub you. xD I do now have a question >.> who here is actually capable of (or is currently) building a 3D fangame? I know about the mod, and DW, but im interested in others. As I recall, Mark had something, but it went poof o.O

ssbfalcon
Yeah, but I'm thinking that there will be some decent 3d game creation tools soon enough... For one, assuming turboferret's irrlitch extension really is as good as they want us to think it is in making 3d stuff easier, and yes, you'll get people begging for engines... SupaChao
People who want to make a 3D game, need 3DGS; but, buy it. Its got very helpful tutorials, their forum is helpful, etc. (atleast its working for me xD) MMF seems like one of those programs that would lag like fug under 3D engines, not matter the extensions Mark, make that game come back >_>
xhedgehogx
Not exactly a sonic game but.. ..A halo fangame in the works. Well, it's been in the works for like 2 years, I only recently added new things to it. The green thing above one of the spartan's head's is the AI friend. I just put the AI in today so it's retarded, only fires at close range and doesn't know what taking cover means. It can jump at necessary times though. The engine is still under construction, basically the only thing done with it is movement, different firing for each weapon, enemy ai(is meh), grenades. Still pending to put reloading in the engine. I have animations for the sword, but I want to make lunging perfect before I put it in the game. Failed so far. TGF's engine making skills are somewhat limited.. I have put out demos of earlier versions, they're currently on my other computer, but they're nothing you'd want to play. Also, if there's a way to make ragdoll physics in tgf, can anyone give me a tutorial on how to do it(I tried, it didn't come out too well). Thanks. (Textures will some day be fixed lol)

Your fan game Sonic 2k6 is good enough I think it could suceed in the retail world. But I never looked at it that way you are totally right if one of use created Shadow the Hedgehog the one everybody hates that will be considered the best fan game on the net but in the retail world as Blaze said things run a little differently. That is so true man.
