umm...back to Sonic... This game looks like the best Sonic game I've seen in since Sonic Adventure 2. The storyline and theme look very interesting, and the graphics are easily comparable to the 360 game (yes, I'm comparing the graphics on a Wii game to one on 360). If this one is any good, I hope they do more like it in the future.

Well, Aki revealed to me that ST has actully been releasing a ton of info.

You can simply Wikipedia it all, but for the visual peeps:

http://wii.qj.net/category/Sonic-and-the-Secret-Rings/cid/1733

thats pretty much a quick summary of what i was going to say.

"Ten levels with ten missions each (such as stealth attack, rampage, chain challenge, beat the clock, and tons more), so basically you could think of it as more like 100 levels, yey! Five of those levels are the following:

-Sand Oasis

-Dinosaur Jungle

-Evil Foundry

-Levitated Ruin

-Pirate Storm

-Sonic now has around 100 customizable skills that he can learn. These skills range from moves to special abilities. Sonic holds four rings that allow for 500 points worth (each) of skills. Experience points are earned through the main game.

-There's this one new move that can slow down time through a soul meter. This move is much like the speed-up move we saw in trailers, only it has the opposite effect on time.

-40 multiplayer games"

And yes, looking at some better resolution pictures stright from ST, this game is looking pretty damn beautiful Graphical wise. Sonic Team says they orginally were putting Sonic Next on the Wii, but decided not to. Not sure how good it would look, but this game is nothing to sneeze at. (On some pics of sonic close up/attacking, he has an altered shader effect that he has on Next, which looks pretty nice.

Using the Chaos Control thing seems to have a nice lighting effect. (Im glad they stopped simply Inverting the screen colors. It kind of looks like the world goes TP Twilight style minus the awesome blooming sort of.

New pictures i find worth viewing (mostly exploration.)

What the hell? Sonic Team isnt making this game?

Yes and no, during the SEGA reshuffle in 2005, United Game Artists was merged into Sonic Team, this game is being made by the United Game Artists half of Sonic Team.

Oh and another new preview with screens of some sunken ship level and some sky battle stage. They also seem to think highly of the game.

And it gets better. Up until recently, we thought that was all there was to it – but we were very wrong. You see, Secret Rings is a far more complicated game than we had any right to expect, it’s not just about getting from one end to the other. That’s just one challenge given to you on any given stage. Every level has a number of criteria that needs to be fulfilled (and selected before you enter a level); finish a stage without collecting a single ring, defeat certain strings of baddies, rack up ring combos without taking a hit, and all manner of special challenges unique to each stage.

This sonic will own, regardless.

Wow, I always find it exceptionally disappointed when while reviewing a game they point out the dumbest things possible such as "humans and hedgehogs mingling like friends" which Mr. Evans then says is "game-ruining." Honestly, I can take someone seriously after a statement like that and while I did finish reading that article I read it with a smirk and the thought "fanboy" in my head the whole time.

Step in the right direction? Maybe. Significantly better than the stuff Mr. Evans probably complained about before? I'm not too sure.

On a random note: something about the way Sonic's shaded bugs me. It's like.. I can't put my finger on it but something just seems "off". Maybe it's that he looks like he's made of an odd material because the specularity is harsh? No idea.

After watching the gameplay videos my opinion of this game has gone from "What the ____" to "mildly enthusiastic"

I may have to revive my Gamefly account for this one.

The voice accompanying sonic isn't as annoying as I thought it would be either. Only real gripe at the moment is Sonic seems to say something everytime he does something.

HANGING ON TO THE EDGE OF TOMORROW!

the lyrics were pretty horrible there. infact, the whole song was. The drums sounded so damn fake and stuff. I hate Live and Learn.

That because the drum beat is like, as simple as it gets, with little to no variation. (I think every now and then an extra snare hit is thrown in, but other than that it's just boom-cha-boom-cha-boom-cha the whole way through.)
