Sorry for DP, it's not relevant to the previous...

Unreasonable, sais BlazefireLP? Ahem...!!

I don't think so, sir! This wasn't too painstakingly hard!

Still WIP, by the way!

The cropping isn't good at all. use a tool such as Photoshop or something to get rid of the always horrid to see white line from where it was cut from.

Alright, let's feedback people (of this page only, cause I'm too lazy)

Hooray :P

Uhm... you know what would be good? If someone happened to get BlazeHedgehog's City Escape Lib and make a stage. But I doubt someone will...

[qimg]http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr217/LHTheHedgehog/cityescapephoenix.png[/qimg]

ONE SEC. WHAT?

PS. This is a direct copypasta of the lib. I only made a few changes to fit the Worlds-based Phoenix Engine 2.0. I may be releasing it for some tests, also.

Ugh, I remember this .lib... It's horrible... Oh god...

That bad-tiled wall without loop, those horrible trees and bushes... Don't LH, don't ruin your game...

...more
Alright I think I'm done with it. Thanks all for the help.

Sir, you're awesome... Here, over 9000 internets for you:

Over_9000_Internets_Bill_by_ChiEkku.png

Don't spend it on candy!

(And by candy, I mean porn)

The cropping is terrible, it's almost like you... Oh... My... God... You'd resized up, don't you?

1st Designer Rule: Don't EVER resize something up (unless you're planning to do it bigger and is resizing just for reference).

Ok, this is not the 1st designer rule, but should be a rule... Somewhere... Anyways, don't do it.

You're so polite, I love you and your jokes.

Besides, if you paid attention, that's just a test level shit. I don't intend on improving that in any way.

Are you sure you ever played Sonic Phoenix? You seem like any franchise's fanboy that worry only about graphics.

Also, quick news: I will be mixing it with some Pathworks and Hedgehog Reborn's lost features. But only with the ones that don't fuck up the concept of the game. I'm aiming to something more Parkour-ish.

And THIS is lovely.

Unless Photoshop 7.0 can accomplish this, we're shit out of luck. I've been using MMF2's image editor for EVERYTHING. I did get HWA recently though, does it have better tools for that? I'll start installing PS7 in a bit.

btw, if I recall correctly, (which is unlikely), but 7 was the last release before CS1, correct. There was also a 7.1 patch, and I believe we have it, but I don't remember it affecting anything.

EDIT: Is P3DR0 good for anything? He told ME something I already knew, but couldn't avoid... And I take it the rest of you aren't the most fond either... P3DR0, please give some real advice next time... How on earth am I going to make a 400x260-ish image 800x520-ish without resizing up?

TailsSena, just cause you don't wanna hear it, doesn't make it bad advice.

Lookit:

sizing.png

Here, I took a small image of Sonic and made it 4 times larger. The result, as you can see, is fugly. I then took a higher resolution version of the same image, and made it 4 times smaller. It's not perfect, but it obviously looks much better than sizing up.

Now, this is just a quick and dirty example in Paint, using Photoshop you'll have a lot more options when it comes to smoothing rough edges and such. But even at the fundamental level, you shouldn't really be resizing art up - it never looks good.

If you absolutely must use that rather than making some original art, you'd be better off finding a hi res image and sizing it down to what you need. All of that official Sonic character art comes at a very high resolution, if you look hard enough. ;D

Sorry bro, I'd just said what I'd saw. I find this lib terrible, you're using it That's what I was saying. :3
Are you sure you ever played Sonic Phoenix?
Yep.
You seem like any franchise's fanboy that worry only about graphics.
And you seem like any bad developer who's incapable of study Photoshop/Paint/whatever to do good graphics and then starts saying "Hurr graphics isn't everything, you know" everytime that someone says that your work looks ugly (Which does, btw).

You're not. That's the advice, but if you still wanna do it, there are a few ways:

1st: Vector the image with Illustrator/Corel. You have to re-drawn eveything since the pixel to vector isn't good at all.

2nd: At the Enlarged version you can hide the low resolution from the resize by adding a blur and/or some effects, like this 10min work that I did on Photoshop:

Feel free to use, if you want to. :)

The one in color is as big as I could find it, not resized at all. The monocream one is about 1.8x resized.

Don't be mean, Blazefire's game isn't done yet. When it IS, then judge. 'Kay?

I don't have Adobe Illustrator, Corel, or any advanced Photo-editing software. Can't find my Photoshop 7 disc either. I'll keep looking, though. But, your work is beautiful! THAT's being useful! ...If only I had a use for the advice part. As of now I can only use the image. Either way, thank you very much.

Glad I could help. Just don't resize things like that anymore haha.

Blaze-who? I was talking about LH's game.

Edit:

[qimg]http://yoritoshi.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/tropical-trance-boss.png[/qimg]

Mostly finished.

...Just asked my little sister to test the game. She kept dropping to the lower routes, getting hit by badniks and didn't understand the solution to the boss. XD

This is awesome, dude. Can't wait to see more of it. :3

For the Background cream add a "Inner Glow" For it and use hard light.. choose the darker outline color and it will mask it and make it smoother.

as for the foreground cream you can only notice it a bit on the left ear so just get a soft ereaser and zoom in. touch it up :)

I know it looks ugly, and that's why I am remaking Sonic Phoenix from scratch.

I only used this lib because people started complaining things like "WTF YOU USE SONIC WORLDS' GRAPHICS EVERY TIME YOU SHOW THIS". Also, I DO know how to use Photoshop. But I don't have patience with it. I still make small edits and changes. And I can assume that I improved A LOT since the last time I released a Sonic Phoenix' demo. And this includes coding, too.

BTW

i love you. MARRY ME

Don't make me underestimate you. I'm sure you can do much more than make your comments being so rude. This always fucks up the credibility you have. Think about that, I'm not saying this to prove to someone that you are mean or whatever. But bashing is DEFINITELY not the best way to express what you think. Unless you're Dr. House or some variant of Chuck Norris. You think I feel fine when you say that my game's all fucked up? Well, no. And don't take this as an insult, take this as a friend's advice. Even if I'm not your friend. You're not better than anyone here.

This shit ends here.

Now you're the one misunderstanding things. My comentary was based on what I'd saw so far at your game. I cannot judge your game engine/improvements based on a picture or two. But what I can judge is what I saw on the screen, wich isn't good. If you want me to say something about the improvements you're doing, about your game mechanics, whatever... Feel free to PM me an beta and I'll do it.

I do believe that you made some improvements on your game (and hope so) don't misunderstand me, I'm not the one wanting to see the world burn, I'm just the one who works professionaly with design so, have a bit of experience to say what looks good and what looks not. And those screens didn't.

Don't be lazy to work on your game's graphic (your words, not mine) and all you'll get will be cheerful comments, like the ones I give to almost everything that looks good.

Thanks but, no thanks. I'm not willing to have a serious relationship with anyone... You know how the things are, bohemian lives aren't for anyone. :3

Don't underestimate people who give you critics, even if they're not clear. The one who say "this shit looks terrible" is more friend of yours than the one saying "this is cool". If my comments sounds rude, it's because you're not used to have your work criticized, no problems then, if you're not wanting to make things look better just be clear and I'll ignore your ugly stuff and just comment when you post pretty things. Simple as that.

And even if you are, and still my words sound harsh, sorry mate, that's who I'm. But I'm not "rude" for free, be sure of that.

Don't take this as an insult, but yes I'm better than a lot of people... Professionaly speaking, of course. And in the same time I am worst as well related to a lot of other persons. That's life, right?

This shit ends here.

"Constructive criticism" is absolutely useless if you have no tact in delivering it. Why should anyone ever take your opinion seriously if you just sound like you're attacking them?

You're out of line. If you didn't like the lib, give your opinion that you didn't like the lib. But that last little comment was completely and totally unnecessary. There is a very clear difference between criticizing and being flat-out insulting. It doesn't make you sound professional, and it damn sure doesn't make anyone think any higher of your opinions just because you're so extreme with them. It just makes you sound like a little prick.
