  2. Much as I'd love to remain steadfastly negative about this whole thing, those screens all look great. Very unique level aesthetics, a huge departure from the retro (rip off) levels of Sonic 4.

  4. Actually a little research into what the owner of Megaupload was getting up to, naw - I am totally cool with that guy getting shut down hard.
  5. I can't figure out how to swap graphic styles, sorry! But the default runs at 30fps for me, I got a 2.1ghz, 2gb RAM laptop with Radeon 4250.
  6. I think you'd need to add the trigger into objPlayer, Step Event, Get Keydata! All the inputs are there already, so as long as you know what the key you're trying to add is, should be easy to copy and add. ;D
  7. Cheers. The awesome music is by Ristar, the dude is crazy good. I've noticed the sticking on slopes/falling through thing, don't worry. I'm guessing it's to do with the collision tiles not fitting together clean, but I am having trouble fixing it. :/ I've updated the level a little, added actual stuff to do on the low path, and another platform right at the start. Still wanna hear how well it runs for others though, cause the 2 guys I sent it to earlier, one couldn't get it to run, the other found it so laggy it was unplayable. The updated version is being uploaded to dropbox now, should have the same url, but upload speed is slooow. :/ EDIT: OK! It's up. Couple other things; the first platform, you can't jump straight to it. That's intentional, but if it feels annoying I'll lower it. Same deal with the ones on the lower path. You can easily get on em. ;D Also, just now found a horrible glitch. Whoo. Homing attacking your face directly into a Buzzbomber's bullet will cause an error box to appear, and the game to glitch out. Source of the problem is that there is no sound for that event. So I check the script for the event in question; no mention of a sound anyway.
  8. So I need Alpha Testers! Nothing big, just lemme know if you can run the game - I've asked a few buddies and they can't seem to run it at all.   10. Yeah, Cacilds, what? O_o Sena! I hit a wall. Literally. HOOOOO Doesn't seem to be a way past this? Maybe Knuckles can climb it and carry on, but I've been testing this whole thing out as Sonic. One other thing; you can't homing attack in the air after you hit a spring.
  11. An hour ago I would have disagreed with you. I find the new default for room viewing is much better for placing tiles and just generally building. But. I just got that glitch; "Error Creating Stand Alone" out of nowhere. Official solution; redownload and reinstall. Whoo.
  12. Doesn't that sort of go against removing the report function though? You're saying to take it to a mod, but also that people shouldn't be able to identify who they are.
  13. There was talk of that guy Mercury's amazing engine AesThet coming sometime soon. But I might have read that a long time ago. @_@ SDASH is the best, imo. Try running the base engine demo on your computer, see how well that performs. If it's OK, the problem might be in your code, and that'll be ineffecient in any engine, right? ;D If you absolutely must switch engines, try an earlier version of SDASH like the Xmas release?

  15. Thing is, it's hard to identify who actually is a mod. Like, there's nothing to differentiate Gamerdude from everyone else. Maybe add a mod banner like Dimension Winnie's Programmer Storm one?
  16. Try custom spriting Shadow. 4 running frames become 30. >.> But yeah, it is much easier to tweak level graphics to suit your sprite than the other way around, imo.

  20. If anything, I think fan games like Fan Remix encourage Sonic Team to put more effort in. Despite all the criticism, no one can deny Fan Remix was beautiful, most would agree it looked better than Sonic 4. I would hope Sega sees them as a challenge rather than a threat. Like "this is what 2 guys did in their spare time, alright, here's what WE do now."

In the span of an hour, they took down the Department of Justice, Universal music group, RIAA, MPAA websites, plus FBI's website, copyright.gov, FBI.gov, the MPAA chief's personal website, the Utah Chiefs of Police Association website, BMI's website, and are working on doing the same to the White House website right now. Don't they have anything better to do? ...guess not, if they can't get stuff off MU. ;D
  22. So... what makes a good level design? I realize it's hard to get specific feedback when I haven't even shown off what I'm doing yet, but I'm, I dunno... worried that I'm building these levels 'wrong' or something. I'm trying to build on the Generations style philosophy, that you get rewarded for playing well, rather than punished for playing poorly. To that end, so far, there's no bottomless pit one hit kill stuff yet. There's a "high" path through the level that's much shorter, but harder to pull off. The low path, if you fall off the high, involves doubling back on yourself to gain height in the level. Overall, it's a lot more vertical than what I'm seeing when comparing to maps of the classic games; and since you start off high, the first chunk of the first act is falling down. Or is that an intentional thing, given the game title snrkhahaha (it isn't) Eh, maybe I'm worried over nothing. I'm having fun playtesting it, I guess! That's all that counts, right?
