DimensionWarped
If it's a Sonic Advance game in HD, it'll be a 4-level Sonic Advance game in HD. It's important to remember that what you are buying here isn't a game, but an episode. If SEGA thought their products were quality, episode 1 would be free and we'd be expected to play that and then want to buy The Earth Explodes and Sonic Must Die purely from the enjoyment of episode 1. It's kind of a trap though. Secret of the Oracle was quite a bit better than The Armageddon Machine.
Scarletdark
I think I'll pirat...uhh..."preview" it first (just splash hill). If I find it to my liking I'll spend the $15. If not, then I'll save the money for a 3DS.
Sparks
Manga around here costs $10 so meh $15 seems good enough for me YES I BUY MY MANGA LIKE A GOOD LITTLE BOY
Daniel
@Price: NO. @Game itself: I want it. It looks neat.
DJ espeed
It's kind of a trap though Kind of?! YOU FOOL! NO ITS NOT KIND OF A TRAP! IT'S A TRAP! Edit: Teehee :3 As far as the game goes, gimme a demo or somethin' I can at least put my greasy hands on! Then I can justify the worth in spending the $15 bucks for it! DimensionWarped
Well, like I was saying... in the great days of old, when the notion of episodic gaming was first formed in the labs of Apogee Software and Epic Megagames, episode 1 was the demo. And yeah, Fuck No. I'm not paying 15 bucks for a game with 4 levels and only 10% original content to boot.
Sparks
The price will lower in about a month or two anyway after release
DJ espeed
Just wait until a year or 2 from now and it'll be $10.00 or less. But of course, pricing is only one factor to determining as to whether or not you buy it.
DimensionWarped
Price is the only factor for me. Mostly on account of knowing that I wouldn't buy it for being what it is, except for the line in the sand of 10 dollars being the point where I stop caring. luksamuk
The only thing I know is that it looks like Sonic 4 worths 800 Microsoft Points for me. Nothing less, nothing more. I'll play the DEMO, and if I find it not worthy as I think, I won't buy that.
DJ espeed
Speaking of the Demo, I wonder when it's supposed to be out? I mean, I suppose it'd most likely be out when the full game is. I think they should release the demo early, considering the close proximity to the release date. luksamuk
The Demo itself is a locked version of the full game, if you pay a bit more attention. So yeah, it's coming out with the full one.
DJ espeed
I believe I am well aware as to what a demo is, LH. And I've heard of demos being released before the release date of a game, even in today's world. Take Forza 3 for instance. Demo was out before the actual game was. Rawr
But generally with the XBLA releases the demos/trials come out the same time as the full game so you can try it - beat a level or whatever and then unlock the full game and continue playing it unlocked + get whatever achievements you might have earned. I think that is what LH was getting at.
DJ espeed
D'ah, go figure, I should've known that was what LH was getting at. PSN works that way, too, y'know. (Just sayin')
Sparks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ndzzIryqNo&feature=player_embedded Mad Gear Zone. Aka the orgy lovechild of Metropolis, Oil Ocean, Wacky Workbench, Scrap Brain and Chemical Plant Zone. Ristar
it would be nice if this game wasn't just Sonic 2 with up to date graphics.
DJ espeed
it would be nice if this game wasn't just Sonic 2 with up to date graphics. Quote of the day. Period. IMO, all it is is Sonic Advance level design**+ *modern* Classic Sonic visuals and Eggbosses + like... 1 or 2 ACTUAL original content. **(Sonic 1-3&K sure as hell did not have a downward slope with a spring at the end, nor did they do overkill on the boosters.) Sparks
If it was original though that'd take away from the point of it being the "ReIntroduction Episode" aka a "Best of Sonic 1/2"." It's like hating Mega Man Powered Up for being a rehash/remake. A lot of people don't like that though, so uh, all I say is wait for Episode 2. And isn't this supposed to be a sequel? Maybe thats why it upsets people. And yeah theres no reason for this to be episodic, unless it was two episodes that each had at least 6 levels and combined to unlock a few new things. But that wouldn't be original enough they already did that.
Sparks
But wasn't that supposed to be a remake? And isn't this supposed to be a sequel? Maybe thats why it upsets people.Like I said, this is the Reintroduction Episode. It's to remind the fans who don't have a Genesis anymore and probably haven't touched a Sonic game since they were 4 what the fundamentals were like. So in essence, Sonic 4 Episode 1 IS meant to be a remake/rehash. This was in an interview IIRC, but I'd have to dig through every single one and I cba atm :VAnd yeah theres no reason for this to be episodic, unless it was two episodes that each had at least 6 levels and combined to unlock a few new things. DJ espeed
That's another way to look at this. Perhaps we can see some more originality in Episode 2?
Daniel
That's another way to look at this. Perhaps we can see some more originality in Episode 2? If I recall, SEGA did say they would "open the floodgates" for Ep 2...
