Zonar Games
Okay this is an idea form right now so I have not programmed the game. All I've done was write a design document and do some gfx. But before I start working on this game I need from you guys to tell me if making a football game with Sonic characters is a good idea. I am thinking about making a game like Madden and NFL Street style so it is kinda realistic and arcade at the same time. But here is what I got planned. There are 14 gridions/fields representing classic and modern Sonic levels like Green Hill, Emerald Coast, Casino Park, and Eggmans base for example. As well as 4 different teams: Team Sonic: Sonic(QB) Knuckles(RB) Tails(WR) Big the Cat(LB,DB) Manic(WR) Amy(RB) E102-Gamma(CB) Team Dark: Shadow(QB) Rouge(WR) Silver(CB) E123-Omega(LB) Dr.Eggman(DB) Metal Sonic(RB) Metal Knuckles(WR) Team Megastars: Sally(QB) Espio(RB) Vector(LB,DB) ??? ??? ??? ??? Last team I dunno yet. 1.) There is 50 different plays in the playbook both Offence and Defence. 2.) As well there is a hot soundtrack with todays hotest artists. 3.) 4 Deep Modes including Play It, Tournament, Story Mode, and Practice. 4.) I got a commontator that comontates for High School Football. I see him at my school all the time so I asked him to do his job for my game. 5.) Online game modes, keep track of records off and online. 6.) Story mode with the chance to face random teams and unlock new plays, fields, options, teams, and more. This is all I came up with. Please guys give me your opinions on this game whether it should be made or not. And some gameplay suggestions. Hopefully this topic does'nt get closed but I saw some other topics that did'nt need screens or a demo to keep it up. - Zonar Games
ila
Ignoring that last paragraph: do you think you even have the capability to do this project the way you want it done? Otherwise I *guess* it might work, although this seems better suited for a Mario sport.
Zonar Games
Ignoring that last paragraph: do you think you even have the capability to do this project the way you want it done? yes and no...yes because I have developed my programming skills and designing skills enough where I can take a fan game where no fan game has been, as well as I can use my uncles studio to do voice overs, music etc. The bad is getting sprites, and just the whole time frame between school, work, girlfriend. But I'm quite sure I can do this challenge. True I slept on the thought of making it a mario game instead, but it came to me that they play too many sports I mean they play b-ball, golf, baseball, soccer, go-cart racing, fighting, tennis, and party. So I decided to have Sonic and friends do something else for a change. But I am thinking of adding a mario team.
Khorney
bah, football (soccerto you johnney foriegners) would probably be better todo than 'football' - less players - less complicated rules, but im just throwing suggestions in here mmmm...ventfest
Slingerland
yes because I have developed my programming skills and designing skills enough where I can take a fan game where no fan game has been Ahahahahahahahaha. That statement is so pretentious it's not even funny. Oh wait...yes it is. My opinion on Sonic Football 07 (you might as well call it 2010, since that is when this will get finished) is that this would probably need custom sprites, since it's football. I think you've chosen something behind the abilities of yourself and many people in this forum (myself included). But I'm willing to throw ideas at you. Epon
It'd probably be better if you decided to do a 7vs7 style game instead, with say... less of the characters on one team. For example, only have like Sonic and Amy on a team, fill the rest of the positions with random Flickies or other generic furries. That way, you can have a bunch more teams with different attributes and such. And I can't picture Sonic and Shadow being QB's, but rather halfbacks or slot receivers haha. Knuckles would be a better Mike-Linebacker and Eggman should be a Defensive End or Tackle.

Epon
I guess if you want to look at it that way, except Strikers, although fun, really didn't feature different attributes based on the team. It was all flash to build up your super attack or whatever. http://www.primetimesportz.com/footballtournamentsrules.html Read that.
Slingerland
Ya, Epon. And yet, now that I continue to think about it, I don't think a 2D, arcade football game works to well. If this was 3D, like Strikers, then I could see this coming to fruition and I doubt your "superior" fangaming skills can pull that off. My main question is your choice of perspective. Are we talking a Madden (16-bit), behind the offense view or a top down view? Also...how about all the rules? Sounds a little daunting to me. In fact, this project sounds too large to begin with, just by the title. 3.) 4 Deep Modes including Play It, Tournament, Story Mode, and Practice. Yeah, just because you sound like a video game manual doesn't mean it's actually deep. That's actually pretty standard. Like bare bones standard. So, I'm not a sports person, so I wish you good luck.

Follow the model of games like....megaman soccer. I think he means American footnall Aerosol, in which case though I would not be playing it since I've never watched many games and know next to nothing about the rules at all. And Megaman Soccer is a bad example since its no good, but maybe I just suck hard at it, I dunno. Although a sports game for American football might work, I'm not sure if you have the required skills to program it at the moment, tried to do a basic engine for the game yet Zonar?
