Slingerland
If you didn't bother to look in the Post Your Screenshot thread, then this is new news to you. Let's set the SAGE hype machine into motion. Sonic Nexus is my fangame project and "Cosmic Chaos," the second level and obligatory casino stage, will be playable at SAGE. Here are the same screenshots from the PYST plus 2 new ones. Title Card Runnin' down that slope Remember Palmtree Panic? Slot Machines! Working flipppers! Treadmill NOW HERE'S WHERE THE FUN STARTS: READ THE NEON SIGN ON THE RIGHT. It's animated in runtmie and easier to read:o Yes, I'm doing something special for this level. Since I think this is the greatest (and only) community I belong to, I want anybody who feels like it to input a neon sign for this level. So far, Rael has made his mark and I'm doing a Damizean one (those two have helped the most, programming and testing respectively), but if you want in, either send me a PRIVATE/INSTANT MESSAGE of an already completed sign (it can be animated if you want, but I'll animate it for you you want) or a word or SHORT phrase you want to be a sign. I'll also accept sprite versions of your furries/custom characters to be on signs. Why a PM/IM? I want to have a Neon Sign Scavenger Hunt during SAGE. Whoever can find the most messages in the neon signs by the last day wins something special. Now, I'm off to polish up this level. Here's some music I made for the game: Title Screen Boss Theme

Rael0505
<3 the Rael is Sexy sign The level's dead sexy. Keep it up, Slingerland.

Slingerland
All right, I'm getting some signs. Keep sending them in!
USC
How big can the signs be? Same size as Rael's, or can they be taller? Very nice, by the way. To me, it feels like a mix between Sonic 3 and Sonic CD, which is way past cool. Nice SAGE gimmick too.
Slingerland
Any size. Make it so it's easy to read, but not to large that you look like a pompous ass (j/k). You can take Rael's and make it taller. The size limit I've been using is the COPE signs from Spring Yard...those are biggest I'll take them. If you make a sign in photoshop, it'll probably end up on the pinball table. Make sure it's totally flat...no drop shadows or bevel/embossing. If you sprite it, it'll just be floating somewhere. I also forgot to mention, aside from your guys' neon signs, I've made my own with messages, so those are up for the hunt. Maybe the infamous Homestar Runner "Wear a Bikini" meesage? Also, for the contest, signs will either be NEON within the level or within the PINBALL TABLES (on the orange and blue Casino Night-esque BGs). Dobermann
Oups... So now nobody can see it anymore
Slingerland
OK, I wanted it by private message, so nobody could see it before the savenger hunt, but whatever...I'll take it!
LarkSS
I think he wanted you to private message it to him so it would be a surprise. Edit: Hah, Slingerland beat me to it. =P
Slingerland
Yeah, Dobey...could you try again? That sign looks really awkward in the level. Maybe a slick logo or you could sprite a neon sign? And uh...private message me this time with it.
LarkSS
It might actually be best to take out the picture. I can see how it could look awkward with the style your level has.
Rael0505
I agree. It's not a city, it should be a neon sign.
Slingerland
Or a totally flat graphic you've made in Paint Shop or Photoshop that will be on the pinball tables. But I'd like more of the neon signs. You can even make it in MMF and send me the CCA file...whatever works.
Aaron C-T
Woah crap. That music is awesome, specifically the Title Screen one.. did you use actual instruments or is it just really awesome midi? I'm thinking it's probably the second one.. awesome either way. And I'm looking forward to this.
Slingerland
I composed it myself with some program on my friend's Mac that's like Fruity Loops. I had these sweet things that allowed me to manipulate notes and stuff so it sounds like actual guitars (it was like a virtual version of an RP20 pedal thingy) and a lot of time spent on the mixer. Forget what it's called and he lost the project files. I'm doing music for things that aren't the levels (still working on invincibility and super sneakers), because that's just too much sh*t to do with the time I have. The level musics are kickass remixes from OCRemix (with permission of course), because I've always wanted to play a Sonic game with those mixes. Adds to the whole "tribute" thing and I think they're remixed in a way that they sound original. Thanks.
Aaron C-T
Was it by any chance a program called Garage Band? I know the Macs in the newsroom at my school all have the program on there. Haven't had the opportunity to mess with it though.
Slingerland
Nah, it wasn't Garage Band.
Slingerland
Bumpage and double postage. I'm just letting the forum know that completed neon signs are due by Wednesday at the latest if you were planning on making one. Sign requests (so that I can make them) are due tomorrow (Tuesday the 22nd). Thank you.

Professor-J
Good God those screenshots are sexy, especially the Palm Tree Panic section. The music is awesome as well, we need more fan games of this quality.
Slingerland
Thank you, both of you. It's nice to hear that. Anyway, submissions for already completed neon signs ends today (August 23rd) at the end of the day. Requests are CLOSED, so don't PM me unless you have something finished. The 1-Act Demo of Cosmic Chaos will be available at my SAGE booth (which I have prematurely opened if you feel like finding it), at 4:00 AM GMT on Thursday (which is 11 PM on Wednesday for me). Also, please tune in to my SAGEcasts, which I've worked hard to put together even during my first week of college and collegiate tennis. I'm on (2 hour casts each): Thursday the 24th at 12 AM GMT (7 PM central - which is where I am) Sunday the 27th at 1 AM GMT (8 PM central) Wednesday the 30th at 1 AM GMT (8 PM central) - this broadcast is where I will announce the Neon Sign Hunt winners. So...all you Americans get decent dinner time casts. For those in other countries, I don't know what time it'll be on there.
