Professor-J
Is this "virus" you have called Spyware Quake? Spyware Quake is a fake virus that installs itself onto your PC in order to get you to buy the full version of it's Spyware removal software. You can either- 1) Get Firefox, no more annoying pop-ups. 2) Ignor it. 3) Search for ways to remove on google (there are plenty).

Koray
Hi. If you care that much about speed, you best be running some tweaked out Gentoo install. Otherwise, who gives a ____ in this age of gigs and gigs of RAM.
Guest Shadix
Of course, the irony of it all is that if you DO get a Gentoo installation, you won't be doing much with your speed anyways.

1LT Worm
http://myspace.com/ridedaworm I think I remember them saying that they were having a problem with Flash or something. Also, Safari for the win! OS X Opera beats out OS X Firefox anyday. Firefox is just too unresponsive.

Koray
Good. It really is sort of fun to tweak out gentoo. But it fades. I just wish someone would move portage to another OS.
BRPXQZME
Why? Linux, Windows, FreeBSD, and Darwin not good enough for you? Try using a ricer kernel (my latest favorite flavor is the no-series, because of the reiser4, fbsplash, and staircase from ck). It makes my 512MB RAM piece of junk... actually not terrible to use. Staircase scheduler is spiffy.
Koray
Let me clarify, Gentoo-Portage. AFAIK, Gentoo's portage in all it's glory hasn't been ported to anything else. Edit: To clarify further, I know Portage is on FreeBSD and Solaris, but it isn't nearly as good as Gentoo-Portage.
BRPXQZME
That's mostly because nobody cares about those OS's anyway On a more serious note, it's because more people need to test it out and give feedback. So it's a chicken-and-egg kind of thing in one sense, but in the other sense, the naysayers are the only ones you can really yell at. ...unless you don't like the ports system. Then you can yell at them. Either way, I like Linux on this particular machine; no BSD has the drivers for it. EDIT: holy crap, I'm like the king of OT.
