  1. I should post this stuff on Japanese boards and see what they come up with.
  2. Sorry to hear about the accident, DB! At least it’s pretty clear what happened. [edit: snip] Using chemicals for thrills just ain’t my thing, personally. I got a buzz from Oxycontin once (had a prescription; got my third molars out). The experience made me turn to other painkillers for the rest of the recovery – I want less pain, not a perception of reality that’s considerably more distorted than normal.
  3. CPS3. An arcade system running exactly six games (in no particular order): Street Fighter III: New Generation Street Fighter III, 2nd Impact: Giant Attack Street Fighter III, 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future Red Earth Jojo's Venture Jojo's Bizarre Adventure All in all, 3s is still played, and maybe one day I can actually play it competitively (psshhhh!). I'm also thankful for The Elitist Superstructure of DQN @ 4-ch and my happy pills. They keep me sane.
  4. CPS3 emulation being cracked, and my Hori Real Arcade Pro 2.
  5. Edit: I can’t believe I felt how I felt when I posted what I posted, but I did. It didn’t seem unwise at the time. It was less unwise at the time. Right now, my responsibility to myself is to delete this post. I am sorry.
  6. And no evacuation whatsoever, because there was nothing to go by.
  7. Sounds less like a driver problem and more like a network problem to me. Usually when half the Internet works and the other half doesn't, you can only yell at your ISP and hope they fix it, but usually they already know it's broken and your yelling won't help them fix it any faster.
  8. Yyyyyeah, I'm kind of bad at time paradoxes like that.
  9. It's such a buzzkill. Thanks to the fact that I was born in the morning 14 timezones ahead, I turned 19 earlier than my actual birthdate, just like every year I've been on U.S. soil. Not that it matters in the country I was born; they tend to up your age on the new years there. I am enjoying my wintry RIT spring break, and the fact that all my presents are pretty much tuition payments. Except my brother, he got me the SatAM boxset preordered, which by the way is coming out, so preorder it. @SK: I didn't have an AIM account 5 years ago!
  10. Irony of ironies, I like 2D fighters the best, but the only ones I'm anywhere near up to date on are the easier 3D ones like SCIII (I'm no good at Virtua Fighter, but the good news is that they don't change enough for it to throw you off when they make a new one). Especially SCIII. 2D... it's not like I don't know them, but darn it if the most recent one one I'm decent at is SFA3. Hm, I've been sketching down ideas for fighters for years... maybe one of these days I'll actually try to pull it all together....
  11. Say what you want, I used Windows 95 for half a decade without it crashing once. All the trouble began when I tried Win98. All the trouble ended when I shelled out for a PowerBook.
  12. yeah yeah we all got over that joke a long time ago, along with pdfiles.
  13. Yeah, I've only had these problems with high temperatures (obviously), the computer thinks it has high temperatures (in which case it cuts out anyway), kernel panic (your OS usually lets you know somehow), and hard drive failure (failed hard drives tend to stay failed). Also driver problems (eep) and multicore synch stuff and meh (more eep). Also, I turn off my machines when I don't use them... so I never got these problems when I did use Windows. Hrmph.
  14. But it actually happens here.Oh, and as it is, the DC area is my usual stomping ground....
  15. Well, to tell the truth, I was pulling a few strings of SFGHQ here and there since 1999 (sixth grade, dang!), but all the consequences of that have been fulfilled now, so I don't let it count. I consider my post listing to have begun December 2000, because that's when I started posting for myself.
  16. I wouldn't say someone who has the discipline to pull it off "rabid", but they would indeed be crazy. Well, technically, I'll be certified crazy if (more like when) my bipolar diagnosis comes in, so I guess I'm not helping. Although Sonic fans do tend to be on the loopy end of the fan scale, though, it's not really as bad as "bad fic" or a lot of the furry stuff (always found it kind of amusing to see some people think I'm a furry... I have a few ties with the community, and I may know a bit about things, but I don't think I've actually participated... ever). Especially the sicker "bad fic". Dear God. At least most of those weirdos aren't the same people who draw really bad cartoon porn, and by that I do mean the REALLY bad stuff. Yikes.
  17. The following is from the reader mail section of Tips and Tricks magazine, No. 145 (March 2007): It probably would have been helpful to mention that there is a slim chance to get extremely rare things (especially ones that didn't see out-of-Japan distribution) such as SegaSonic the Hedgehog or Sonic the Fighters. You could also cynically read into the subtones of how they view the Sonic fan communities, but I don't exactly hold T&T to the same standard of journalistic integrity as, say, The Washington Post. So uh, good job, whoever you obsessed people are. I know you're reading this.
  18. My "official" age as issued by the US government, or my "real" age, as is well known throughout the colonies of the BRPtic people? One is currently 18 (and yes, I'm surprised that some of you track my "birthday", and yes, it is coming up soon), the other is currently... damn old. But they both change every year....
  19. I've been here for approximately 5 years, 3 months. Thanks a lot for making me feel like an old fart.
  20. Just a note: When I see "roumaji", I think Japanese romanization. When I see "romaaji", I think someone tried to say "fromage" and failed. Of course, the best Japanese get a mac ad is the one with the scoot of doom. The best Japanese Microsoft ad? I'd say this one. My MacBook hard disk failed the other day, taking with it every project I was working on since May. I had 16 days uptime the week before, though.... This message was brought to you by Gentoo Linux, which means [edit: eh, this was kind of clever, actually? But it ain’t me no more. And it wasn’t sincere anyhow!]
