Blue Frenzy
the best device agaist viruses is the one between the chair and the keyboard. But it's kind of hard to configure. Try avast.
The ParadoxX
AVG never worked for me either, but I never had any trouble with avast, is the best free option in my opinion.

Asuma
I recently just got rid a virus that AVG just picked up. It had the same name as my account.
Sockman
I loved AVAST until I realized that I was still getting viruses. I finally decided to actually put down money on a security suite, bought ESET, and haven't turned back. It's great anti-virus that's efficient with computer resources. XeroNazoBlaze
You maybe want to try Nod32.For me,works perfectly fine but a problem with this aplication is when it found a infected file or something.Directly is deleted without any notification.Btw,AVG sucks hard.Mmmmm....what about Norton? Daniel
avast is great... But Microsoft Security Essentials is awesome too. Avira is also tons good... I'm currently using avast though.

DimensionWarped
Norton and McAffee are both practically like viruses themselves (impossible to close, whore up resources like nobodies business), so suggesting them is kinda eeeeh. That said, I just don't get viruses. Something about not searching google for strange porn seems to keep me in healthy working order.
Asuma
Thanks for the suggestions. I've heard things about Panda. Anyone used that before?

Aaron C-T
Just use Microsoft Security Essentials. Really. I feel like as far as free anti-virus goes, you can't get much better than something designed by the people who made your OS (I'm assuming you're running some version of Windows). It barely uses any resources, is updated daily, creates system restore points, and has a clean interface. ::shrug::

Serephim
Kaspersky anti-virus is what Best Buy seems to be pushing out the ass now, when i got this laptop like all of the reps were going on about it. Its quite interesting, its not annoying as hell (like most antivirus protection), it updates very frequently (again without being annoying) and apparently scans my computer without me ever knowing. It also lets me completely pause its functions if i want, and has little side helper things like a Virtual Keyboard. Until then though, i was using Spysweeper and i felt it worked quite well. Kaspersky seems to do everything it does though, and feels like 5x lighter on processes and DOESNT annoy the fuck out of me everytime i startup. I assume you don't share a PC with computer-illiterate people. http://www.linux.orghttp://www.apple.com LINUX/MAC HAS NO GAEMS! OT: I'm using avast! with Windows 7, and it got rid of some stuff my PC got, although on a whole, I enjoyed Nod32 much more.

No, I'm pretty firm about not letting people use my computer for anything internet related. If they want to get on my computer, it's going to be to play a game and nothing else. Result: broken reset button and 1 broken USB port, getting MSN viruses on multiple occasions, getting regular viruses on multiple occasions, and probably some other stuff I forgot.
