Mark the Echidna
It's been out since yesterday. http://www.cinematical.com/2007/12/06/first-look-speed-racer-trailer/ So, what do you guys think about it? I was somewhat disappointed they broke the original theme song right in the beginning... And that some of the visuals look different. They also seem to be overusing neon-like colors, which I'm not sure I like, because it makes it look more like Fast and Furious than Speed Racer, but overally, I liked the trailer, and some of the style they're using. I definitely want to watch this trailer at a Movie Theater, but I'll have to wait until it's dubbed and gets here.
duckythemutant
You beat me to it. Oh my FUCKING god. I don't want to be an elitist prick but STFU. The trailer is omfg I can't fucking believe this is going to be an actual movie it looks SO FUCKING GOOD. Holy FUCKING SHIT Sorry Mark, I almost went apeshit on you XD
Pheonix Gamma
...Ugh. I can't take this movie seriously. Even if it's not supposed to be serious, it looks bloody stupid.
ClassicSonicRules
I find it disgusting that movie writers are not intelligent enough to create original movies. It seems like almost every new movie is rather a remake or a sequel of an older movie. Can't the writers think for themselves instead or relying on others' ideas? Mark the Echidna
Sorry Mark, I almost went apeshit on you XD n/p XD Anyway, I'm only concerned about it breaking the original Speed Racer feel. Much like the original Sonic the Hedgehog feel has been broken.
hRook
For turning such a cartoony cartoon into live action, I think it looks pretty damn good. John Goodman is the perfect Pops.
Aaron C-T
I need to see the trailer in a movie theater. I'm not sure I have a real feel for the whole "lack of DoF" thing they were shooting for. Racing looks "meh" in some spots, though.
Steven M
One side of my brain says this will be the best racing film ever made. The other side says "Oh hey, its Batman and Robin all over again".
Slingerland
Why are they in the future? That's the only aspect of this movie holding me back from going "omfg."
VectorSatyr
How else would they explain races involving super-powered racing cars? ;
Kain
Another ancient geek property turned cinema movie film? Hard to like a trailer that takes its retro nonsense jokes so seriously. But it is just a trailer and probably designed to force more nostalgia attention than the movie in general.
Slingerland
How else would they explain races involving super-powered racing cars? ; Doode, the cartoon wasn't in the future.
DimensionWarped
I can't stand it. Its just not the same without a retardedly fast speaking Speed Racer.

Ligar
As long as they keep the comedy aspect in there I'll give it a chance. Who knows this movie could catch us by surprise. Lets not point fingers as soon we see a "trailer". I think its safe to say that many people were skeptical over the 300 trailer as well
duckythemutant
It'll make me a hypocrite for doing the whole "your opinion sucks" motto, but you're all a bunch of fucking idiots. j/k to an extent

MaxSonic
Wait... Slingerland watched speed racer? But... Speed Racer is anime. Slingerland + Anime= HOLY FUCKING SHIT APOCALYPSE!
Slingerland
I watched Speed Racer when I was real young and when it was on television. My dad introduced me to it, because he thought the premises in which they raced where awesome, not to mention that everybody talked fast. When I became older and learned that it was anime, for some reason, I didn't care. I still hate the rest of it, though. Speed Racer is about racing with a supercar, a subject not so outlandish that I can't stand the sight of it.
1LT Worm
Speed Racer isn't really anime in the modern sense. It's an adventure cartoon. Anyway, this looks absolutely terrible. GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM COMPUTER ANIMATION. Jesus.
Slingerland
I just want them to be racing on racetracks and canyons. Speed Racer is not F-Zero.
