LakeFeperd
well, i've been with no internet for about a whole week... anyway i'm back just edited a bit to look a little more like the original tree and added some shading... @Chronic i'm getting a Donkey Kong Country feel just by looking at it for some reason =P
Sparks
It's good until the blue comes in. IMO you should keep the green.
Hybrid35
I think he should just soften up the blue, or lessen the amount of blue he has, like 1/4-1/2 in the tree.
BlazefireLP
I agree with Sparks. There was too much of this in your previous game IMO Lake. Try doing colour mashing a bit less. It can get repetitive and also to me it doesn't really make any sense for a tree to suddenly turn Blue like that.
Rawr
Personally I like the blue better on it, I'd just make the transition less harsh.
LakeFeperd
so... which one? and btw, i like doing this, the grass also has it almost nothing makes sense in sonic games anyway
Hybrid35
Second IMO
Carl Winslow
woah damn, that edit's pretty much perfect. I would have done something myself but I was dealing with work of late. And yeah, that second one looks the best to me. best to not over saturate the blue or it'll look weird.
VectorSatyr
Middle one, but the shading is off. It makes no sense that the top would be whitened, yet the right side a shadow.
FanGameRevolver
Not bad, there are some good expressions here. Changing facial expressions can be hard to do in sprites though, I'm curious, how do you plan to make them change? A separate object or multiple skins? just a separate sprite, pasted over at the specific location. One object in game maker can draw as many sprites as you want. The only difficult part is when some frames have the head lower or higher then usual. But that's easy to work around when you don't have a ton of frames. Thinking about detaching arms the same way too, that way she can direct her arm towards something, aim with a tool, or interact with other objects while running and jumping and such, w/out me having make an insane amount of frames. @lake, I like the middle one, but I can't say I can make an accurate decision w/out seeing it in the level. BlazefireLP
Because I haven't shown like, ANYTHING since S.A.G.E. Here is a screenshot from HolyHydroZone. I wiped this up fairly quickly just for the sake of showcase. As it wasn't entirely finished but feedback is still appreciated non the less. If you find yourself not understanding the tile structure, you're not alone.
Sparks
You need to add another layer to the foreground. Something like bigger blocks that are popping out of the main ground, or missing blocks revealing the dirt or smaller blocks.
Daniel
[qimg]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5505419/HolyHydroZone.png[/qimg]That looks pretty damn sexy. Although, I think since with the sprite change with a bit more saturated colors, that you can make the red of the checkpoint a bit more saturated. BlazefireLP
I'm pretty sure I can do better than what I did. So I think I am going to re do it entirely. While also taking your feedback into consideration from this with hash over. Oh, and there's this too:
Rawr
so... which one?[qimg]http://i.imgur.com/1tCx7.png[/qimg] [qimg]http://i.imgur.com/kcTeA.png[/qimg] [qimg]http://i.imgur.com/ToOux.png[/qimg] and btw, i like doing this, the grass also has it almost nothing makes sense in sonic games anyway I like the third one the best myself, the second one is cool but you really lose a lot of the blue. The only thing I'd change on the third one is to tone down just how intense the blue is by a tad. But the middle one is okay too.
Briraka
so... which one?[qimg]http://i.imgur.com/1tCx7.png[/qimg] [qimg]http://i.imgur.com/kcTeA.png[/qimg] [qimg]http://i.imgur.com/ToOux.png[/qimg] and btw, i like doing this, the grass also has it almost nothing makes sense in sonic games anyway I think 2 looks pretty cool. JetHawk95
@Lake If anyone ever asks you what was the hardest bit about making the game you can "That god damn tree -__-" I think somewhere between 2&3 though dude. @Blaze, Looking really nice on the Green Hill type level, I Think the opposite of DNL though, It looks too cluttered on that picture, feels like too much is going off in the background, Meh maybe its just at that point of the level and I'm being picky xD
Djawed
@lake Yeah I agree that the second is best.
