If he is for you, then he's on a higher layer than the other objects, otherwise you made an event somewhere that's either bringing him to front or bringing everything else to the back. The only layer event I see is that it moves him to the layer where the player start is. Open up the layers window. Drag the icon of Sonic onto a different layer. That changes his layer. You can't dynamically set Sonic to different layers that way, but you can work around that by having an object that only displays depending on which virtual layer Sonic is on.
