Fr0g
Hey guy's I'm new to the forums and haven't been using MMF for a couple years but for some reason I decided to start tinkering with it again. Anyways, my question is that after I delete all the objects out of the play area (exception of the moving platforms so i don't lose events) I still have some random spots on my background with weird green walls and whatnot. They are somewhat scattered but still very annoying and I can't have my levels look all pretty and then have a random green wall sticking up... Thanks in advance, I'm sure this isn't really that hard to figure out but I've been working on other modifications for the engine that are a little more gameplay oriented. Also, one more question, this one is regarding parallax backgrounds (the other question might have too). Anyways, I was wondering if I could make a background that only scrolled horizontally, and vertically stayed at the same position as sonic. Thanks again in advance! Sorry if these questions seem noobish, but trust me, I've had waaaaay more questions then this and so far I've been just figuring it out on my own. Thanks again! -Fr0g
DimensionWarped
have you tried something along the lines of... yscrollfactor = 1?
Fr0g
Well the second question is answered. I set it to 0 and was gonna try 1 later but kindof forgot lol. I just remember when it was at 0 it gave me a grey bg. Thanks a ton DW! Well now I just have to figure out how to get rid of the random green terrain (non obstacle) that sticks up in various spots in my level.
Rael0505
I know DW already helped you, but I'll post a parallax example here. There's no Y movement, like you requested: http://jsonicserver.no-ip.org/files/100/parallax.rar A few things to know about parallax in worlds: -Add all parallax objects to group 99. Remember that they need to be in layer 1 so they're behind everything else. -The parallax folder is in General Methods\Startup Events\Parallax Setup -You only program the movement of the parallax pieces. Its position is determined by where it is at the start of the frame. Just place it where you want it at the top left of the room. -In the parallax setup folder, the comment under "Initialization of parallax pieces attributes" explains how to use the different alterable values to control the parallax. See what I did in the event directly below. You probably already know a lot of this because you aren't new to MMF, but I'm posting it because it may help someone else. Welcome to the forum, by the way. edit: and as for the second question... I have no idea what you're talking about. Could you post screenshots to show your problem so we can understand it better? Ayling
Actually, I know what you're talking about, Fr0g. I've seen a similar problem.
Rael0505
There are some tiles in layer 1. If you were only deleting stuff in layer 2 that may be why. I don't know if layer 1 is locked by default in the latest build.
LarkSS
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by these green walls, but try opening the layer panel ( Ctrl+K ) and clicking all of the red locks to unlock all layers and then go to the menu at the top of the frame and go to [Arrange | Unlock All] to unlock all objects in the frame. This should allow you to edit and control everything you see and thus allow you to select those green walls and delete those suckers by hitting the Delete key. Oh, and welcome to SFGHQ. =] Edit: Fuck dammit Rael, you're not supposed to post an answer to a problem I was already helping with. >=o @Fr0g: If you have any questions regarding MMF, feel free to hit me up on AIM or MSN and I'll be more than happy to help you out. Fr0g
Wow thanks a TON you guys, its very nice to have questions answered this well! I'll try out everything you said, but from reading what you guys said i'm positive that either A: The green blocks are in group 99, or B: The green blocks are in layer 2. Thanks again for the great help! -Fr0g
Rael0505
Wait, you think they could be in group 99? Can't you just check to verify?
Fr0g
yeah right after i posted that I checked and they were just in a different layer is all Most of my previous experience has been with TGF, I don't believe it had the object layers like MMF2 but I'm not sure. I've actually got a different question related to homing attack but as it's not Sonic Worlds specific I'll post it in the Assistance boards. But as far as this thread goes, problem solved! ;D
