Slingerland
http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=742698 I also got a chance to play this game. No matter how many iterations of this game you want or if you want a classic, on-the-go fix, don't buy it. It is crappy and sh*tty. SEGA...what the ____? This game is painful to play. I just thought I'd let a raving Sonic community save themselves $20. I was thinking about it, because I'd love some on the go action, but after playing my idiot (he's an idiot because he bought this) friend's version, I change my mind. The resolution sucks (you can't see where you're running), the speed sucks, the music sucks, and this isn't even the same game. It's a port, not an emulation. You'd think a GBA would be able to handle a Genesis game. I have yet to play Sonic the Hedgehog on the X360, but so far, for me, Sonic's b-day celebration sucks balls. MidimanNull
looks like its time for bearshare. oh and looks like your wrong about the emulation thing, including the fact that Sonic the hedgehog genesis had a 320x240 ( I assume, grpahics look stretched :E ) res, whilst the gba has a 240x160 res? TRD
Is it that bad? I was going to buy it later on, because I wanted to try the spin dash in Sonic 1. I'm a little curious.
Slingerland
Sonic 1 wasn't built for the spin-dash, so it's pretty worthless. Plus, just go play a hack of Sonic 1. "Sonic 1 Plus" is a good one.
1LT Worm
I think these companies are just getting greedy with all these classic games. I already have Sonic Mega Collection, I don't need 50 other ways to buy it.
TRD
Great, that's a real turn-off. Well at least I just saved myself $20. I'll take a look at that hack later.
MidimanNull
lol guys.. Sonic 2 Long Edition Gold = best rom hack other than tohaka, speaking of which, if anybody can get me Tohaka, id buy them a McGriddle and some mcnuggets. TRD
Now I've seen a whole bunch of sonic 1&2 hacks before, but I've never heard of these ones. Where are these hacks? and this isn't even the same game. It's a port, not an emulation. You'd think a GBA would be able to handle a Genesis game. You know what? I wouldn't be surprised at that because I've seen some games that originally was for snes or sega that went onto the gba, and it really sucked. Example: Ever played Mortal Kombat advance? The collision was bad, the controls were horrible, the blood and gore graphics made me want to cry, the background graphics I'm not even going to mention because it was so bad. At least the genesis and snes made the game enjoyable and bug-free even though the arcade version was the real product.
Aerosol
I knew it, I knew it! I said that this game would suck because you can't see where you're going! But I can't believe it's slow too, wow. Sonic Team aren't all that good at gba ports it seems.
Damizean
You'd think a GBA would be able to handle a Genesis game. Yes... if you used Dynarec. Anyway, since I was foreseeing this would happen, I'll just wait for a rom dump. It's a shame to see even fangamers can make better stuff than SEGA (and I'm talking about the Sonic 4 fangame for the GBA, wich actually has ported GHZ at fullspeed with decent sound). Slingerland
Yes. Sonic 4 is pretty radtacular. I love how Aquatic Ruin is done in that game too.
TRD
Damn! Even though you guys says it's bad, and I take your words for it, I'm still very curious, I can probably get my cousin to buy it and play on his gba, he loves sonic, and I don't have to pay a dime, Everybody wins. Slingerland
Download a ROM, though I doubt it's up on the internets already.
TRD
Checked it, I went to *a site that has been edited out by ila* and they have a great line of roms especially GBA roms, but it wasn't there, I'll wait for it, although by that time my cousin should already own the game. He's in for a rude awakening. He love's classics and hates it when they are remade into crap.
Aki-at
What is this Sonic 4 rom you speak of and where can I get it? Is it that Sonic 1 megamix hack or is it something else?
Slingerland
Here it is, Aki.
Damizean
Ok, so there's a dump already. O.M.F.G. this is so terrible that makes Sonic Mobile look like absolute win. Really, don't even bother getting this game.
Slingerland
You heard the Dami. This game blows.
Damizean
It's a sin against nature. Everytime I try it out again, it makes me cry tears of blood. What's even more terrible about this is... this is an official SEGA childhood rapement
VectorSatyr
I'm about to cry just reading those words... ;_; Sonic 4 GBA isn't anything special, either, but...
Slingerland
Ya, there's a ROM up now. So if you need to see it to believe it, go for it. Worst angle and collision detection evar.
Blues
This game is the worst game I have every played.
Aki-at
Well Sonic 4 isn't anything special, it would have been alot better if I could see where I was going, it still does a better job then this port. Anyway Sonic Wildfire and Sonic the Hedgehog seem good so far, but I was never interested in this title to begin with anyway = ) Still makes me wonder how much time SEGA puts into working on a Sonic game. but hey, they've done these dodgy jobs before *coughGameGearPortscough* although that still doesn't excuse what they did to this game ;__;
1LT Worm
My impressions from the ROM: Yay Sonic's running....whee!! OH____WHEREDIDTHATCRABTHINGCOMEFROM?
MetalShadowX
Oh well, I was going to get around to buying it, but since it seems it's unanimous that it's an almost total failure, I've decided against that notion. Thanks, Singerland, for the heads up (or is that "heads-up"? "Head's up"? Ooohhhh, whatever. Anyway, thanks.)
