Much smaller download than the UDK. Wonder how demanding it is to use. Something screwed up Nvidia drivers end resulting in huge memory leaks with the latest drivers with apps; UDK is pretty much useless right now. Fuck I hate Windows. Wish there was something like this that was platform-independent (as in the editor tools being platform-independent) that didn't cost like £20,000 (Unigine, looking at you).
More the way the scenery doesn't get textured beyond a certain point is what I noticed - not finalised? That said, I do like what's been done here. Could make for a section of a level!
I'm not sure I see what the problem is, if he made it from scratch himself. So what about people copying the original games' HUDs, then? Or the Sonic Advance style?
id Software LLC need to be credited first, as it's the Doom engine modified (I believe they're using the modifications the Doom Legacy Team made, so they'd need crediting too).
I'm also going to point out that if you modified the source code for SRB2 you are obliged to release your changes under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
gsoft raised the possibility of it being a case of "left hand not knowing what the right is doing", Kirs. So whilst not good, it might not be as bad as it could be.
I'm not so sure. One Sonic project that I can think of that'd be affected by a more aggressive stance would be Sonic Fan Remix, although I know it isn't hosted here. And if SEGA really are becoming that much more hostile towards fangames, turning its lawyer's attention to sites such as this one would be a logical move.
Is it Square-Enix or Nintendo that've pulled that kind of dick move often before now, Serephim? I know S-E is known to be openly hostile towards fangames.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion of the C&D and what it's impact might be for sites like this one, actually. It sounds like it may place this website (and others like it) at (more) risk, certainly.
Drowning music's a lot of fun in the way it combines the feel from different games! Nicely done, as is the remix of the "& Knuckles" extra life music. And Knuckles in a car? Shades of Sonic Drift? And the large badniks look fun... different from the way Sonic Classic does it, I take it?
So classic Sonic only gets the classic music and sounds, and modern Sonic only the modern music/sounds? Bah. I'd love for modern Sonic to be playable using the classic stuff, too! And, of course, vice versa!
OK, so I've taken a look at it. Quite nice I think! Sonic controls pretty nicely, although my less-than-great co-ordination and reactions makes it more tricky than it should be at times. No enemies implemented? I did notice the buzz bomber model and textures there.
Yeah, BlitzSonic seems to be the only usable 3D Sonic kit out there (with SonicGDK not ready yet).
I gathered that.
Which is why I asked if the real in-game sound would do something like that. I doubt it'd be easy, but if it does (or can), that'd be a neat trick!
No more Doomsday, and Final Fall without the Death Egg - not a sequel to 3/Knuckles any more then? I'm curious about what the music choices will be this time round, too.
