Slingerland
So...uh...I'm polishing up level gimmicks for SAGE and I was wondering the best method to make a treadmill in the MMF 360 engine. I've been using some crappy method where every couple milliseconds Sonic is on the treadmill, set the speed to the speed-[insert value that I forgot]. Is that fine or is there a better way? Rael0505
Wouldn't that put him in his walking animation? I'd try changing his position instead of his X speed.
tentril
Why don't you just subtract from the speed instead of setting it?
UltimateSonic
Why don't you just subtract from the speed instead of setting it? True. Maybe If you detect that sonic is colliding with the treadmill, subtract X amount from his actual speed.
Damizean
It's better to change the X position of Sonic instead of the Speed, that way Sonic would be quiet instead of keep walking all the time.
LarkSS
Ya, if you substract the speed, he'll keep speeding up unless you set a maximum speed limit. I'd check how many pixels the treadmill moves in the animation every frame and have Sonic positioned that much every time the frame changes. ( And Sonic's on the treadmill of course )
