Epon
If ya'll haven't heard of the Mac-->PC project called OSx86, I suggest looking into it. Look what I just did with an old PC lying around my house: INSTALL VIDEO: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Oos3RmBTN5Y VIDEO DOS: http://youtube.com/watch?v=t0Vp8jwlF7c There will be more videos to come of the anal-rapery of Steve Jobs, but if you want more immediate info, I suggest the following websites: http://www.osx86project.org/ - The main project page http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=73524 - Forum thread and OSX install I got to work http://lifehacker.com/software/hack-attack/build-a-hackintosh-mac-for-under-800-321913.php - Lifehacker article about all this There's a few more patched releases out there, namely BrazilMac's ISO that you can find in the bowels of the interwebs, but this specific machine only had a P4 with SSE2, so I needed ToH RC2... awesome. ~EDIT~ So I took the install DVD out and realized that my machine won't boot without the DVD in the tray. Bugger me. I'm 99% sure it's because the OS thinks the boot volume is the DVD drive, not the HDD it's installed on, so I'll tinker around with the terminal (boo unix) and figure out what's wrong. ~EDIT 2~ So after hours of digging thru countless gay methods to get this to boot off of the HDD, not the install DVD, I finally figured it out... if you're in the process of doing this, here's the link: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=73402&view=findpost&p=519596 It seems you must do the BASH shit from the install DVD's terminal, which is located after the language select screen in the top Utility menu. Oi... took some time, but well worth it. Next step is checking if I can get video acceleration going! Enjoy

Epon
Long story short, since Mac started to support the Intel processor over the PowerPC, nerds have hacked the Mac kernel apart and figured out how to bypass most of the stupid bullshit that Apple put in to prevent an occurence just like this. Since OSX is just Linux on graphical steroids, it was only a matter of time before this happened. To be honest, this might be the best news for Apple in awhile. Sure, pirated versions galore all over the interweb, but the user base is gonna multiply tenfold. New video above, too.

Epon
I know, sometimes my 8" dick fools people into thinking I'd have a Barry White-esque voice.... All kidding aside, caught a bout of Bronchitis from the GF earlier in the week and my voice has been off, especially after giving a 30 minute presentation yesterday in my ethics class. I guess it does sound weirder than usual in the videos, but you never really pay attention to your own voice, do you? Edited the topic a bit more since I found a new problem
Pheonix Gamma
Rad, though my friends who use Macs tell me they've been having problems with it, so I'll wait I suppose. Though I dunno if my computer can run it or what have you. I am curious as to how the keyboard shortcuts work. My school uses Macs, which makes working in most programs a pain in the ass, so I just lug my laptop around since I'm already accustomed to the usual stuff. I assume it just functions the same as a Mac.
1LT Worm
The only downside with OS x86 is that it's still emulated. People I talk with who use it have it crash all the time. i have to say, i did not expect you to sound like that. you dont sound bad, but not what i expected. I think he sounds like he's from Jersey. EDIT: Have you tried looking here in System Prefs?
Smidge204
Hah. The truly 1337 kids on the block have had leopard installed in our Virtual Machines since last month! (Large image inside) Suckas... Edit: Worm: No, it's not emulated. OSX really does run on x86 hardware, since the new Mac computers are in fact Intel x86 architectures. However, OSX has checks to verify that it's being installed on Mac hardware, and this "Mac fingerprint" is the only thing emulated. It's actually more stable than the kernel hack used for the 10.4 series. =Smidge=

I just meant not everything inside the standard PC is completely compatible with OS X. EDIT Ahoy mateys!

Epon
Who needs expensive cases when you have sharpies (SmidgeEdit: Spoiler tag huge images plz...)
DimensionWarped
Interesting. I might consider a 3-way boot between XP, Vista and OSx86 for when I finally get my new computer next month.
Smidge204
Epon: Use spoiler tags :/ DW: I wouldn't bother. Worm: Your original post made it sound like the entire OS was running on top of a PowerPC emulator, which is not true. Also, pirate pedobear is extremely confusing and random... =Smidge=
Pheonix Gamma
PiratePedobear was supposed to be for when I made pedolicious jokes back when I had Jack Spearow for a avatar. It's still irrelevant to the topic, though... And yea, cases are silly. My friend has this hugeass computer stored in what is essentially a small dresser of sorts, and when you open the cabinet door, you see all the insides and shit. It looks nice with his 30" monitor. Still, I wouldn't mind getting this to run on a PC whose case says "Hackintosh" on it.

Smidge204
Ah. I remember this coming up before, elsewhere... In no place does it actually mention her age - both in the series or on any official publication that I could find. They only mention that she's "in the same age group" as Simon, but then never say how old Simon is either. Even if that's the case, it's only true for the first half of the series - after which she's at least 21 and looks *exactly the same* except her hair style. I'd still like to know where 14 came from... perhaps a paper-only publication? =Smidge=
Mark the Echidna
Hey, but doesn't MacOS X only run in x64 hardware? And Smidge, did you take a screenshot with an URL for a file that was yet to be uploaded? You plan filenames beforehand?
Smidge204
I'm pretty sure it requires a proper 64-processor. At least Leopard does. Tiger (10.4) might nto be 64-bit exclusive. =Smidge=
Mark the Echidna
But: but this specific machine only had a P4 with SSE2 Anyway, I won't be able to run it either... I have an Athlon XP, which hasn't SSE2.
