  1. All new names added to the second list on this page. +Rep
  2. List 2: (For the full, first list, see page 1). Atomic Chaos Zone Autumn Draft Zone Bae Zone Bamboo Bansai zone Beta Coast Burning Bridge Zone Crystal Cave zone Electropolis Zone Fatal Fall zone Final Fear Zone Frostbite Fall zone Gamma Towers Grand Cliffs Grand Gamble zone Grand Pillar Zone Hexagon Hill Zone Infernal Fall Zone Iron Infantry Zone Loop-De-Launch Zone Loop palace Zone Mechanical Defiance Zone Mystic Egg Zone Mystic Mine zone Neon Night zone Pearl Paradise Zone Pico Palms Zone Plastic Pressure Rainbowplex Zone Rainbow Resort zone Reactor Rush zone Retropolis zone Revelation Galaxy Zone Saint Island Zone Spring Sanctuary zone (spring as in the object) Spring Serenity zone (spring as in the season) Tacit Torrent Zone Terra Flare Tetra Hydro Zone This list is still fresh and young, so people feel free to add to it. First List is on Page 1.
  3. Dunno this is a bit of an assumption but you'd think they'd aim for that. If someone wasn't, would they tell you? Yes my game's all about holding one key to complete it. Some sort of massive slide where you never really do much, and as for enjoyment WELL, there is none. Any questions? Apart from that, I'm hoping the first boss will be a good challenge and not a push-over like most first bosses. CD's first boss was abysmal for me. Especially when there's an invincibility box right near the boss area. Also, I thought the old Pristine Palisade's boss was fine. Nothing wrong there.
  4. Where in the hell did you get those from? Queer quest? Yummy yeast? A vibrant imagination, if anything. You could build an epic food game out of those zones. You start with Yummy Yeast to make a Cookie Crater, then put on some Sismic Sauce, put it in the Heat Hub and they're ready to eat. Cut them up with some Keen Knives and straight into your mouth. The final zone involves them returning out of your Utter Underworld. Furthermore, they were added to the list plus all recent ones. +Rep
  5. Yeah, and the grappler robot becomes a shitty final boss. Epic fail. Although it's just a normal boss for Knuckles if you attach it, which is sort of a massive slap in the face to anyone who's just like "oh yay it's over.. no wait."
  6. Oh, I thought you mean multi-part bosses in Sonic CD, not a seperate zone for them. I understand you now. However Sonic 3 has multi-part bosses, perhaps you thought of that. Just played Launch Base which is a good example (the slopes with the canon-ball launcher and on the ship with his vertical contraption).
  7. Fair enough. I'm guessing a good example of this is the 07 demo with the two part boss. ..wait how did Sonic CD do that? All I remember is one boss per zone.
  8. Touche, thanks for adding to them. Seriously, if you're not contributing, stop posting. The less space we waste the better. I don't mind if people have screenshots and they want people to help come up with zone names, that's a great idea. Which is now added to the rules. But stop making posts like "I agree what a hilarious idea." Not helping. Okay cyberrat, I'll try that. It'll make it more alphabetical if anything I guess. Also, if you wish to get people to help out with zone names for a specific zone, detail what background pieces and gimmicks will be in it to help out. Wacky Workbench wouldn't have been worked out merely by a metal background. Continue. All relavent zone names added to the list. +Rep given.
  9. In all fairness Brad, we were being relavent. Our opinions did slide a little, but it all still equates back to Nexus. It's better we talk about Sonic games rather than leave this thread empty, anyway. However, to get back on such a topic, will there be only one boss per zone or one boss per act? Dunno if this has been said or not.
  10. cyborg_ar: Honestly, would you use those zones in your game? If you're answer's a no, then so's mine: no. cyberrat: Looks annoying, how would it be easier when all I'm doing is copying and pasting anyway? Doesn't get much easier than Ctrl+C. All recent (and practical) names added. +Rep
  11. What the hell? Why is everyone complaining about water zones? If Sega keeps on believing the only way to make 2D sonic games fun is by eliminating the need for pressing any button except maybe the ON button to play, you guys are the reason. Water levels have always been fun. True, if they're completely underwater, it's fuggin' annoying. But if there are both underwater and above ground parts, what's wrong with it? Sega apologises for making old games fun and hard. They expect to release Sonic Advance 4 soon for your troubles.
  12. Added all recent ones to the list. Thanks for your contribution. +Rep
  13. That it is. I'm still loving how this is shaping out, especially after I played the demo a couple of times more. I'm waiting for the sunshine boss. Hoping it'll be pretty awesome. Also, the cutscene's absolutely fine. I wouldn't change anything, except maybe shorten the buzzbomber bit by a couple of seconds. Aside from that, what's wrong with it? Best animated cutscene I've seen since Fated Hour.
  14. I love the very sonanime feel it gives me. Also, I have to comment on how I think the arms look ridiculously long. Although, I believe only a pixel shorter would probably fix this. I dunno, I know his arms almost reach to the bottom of his shoes in some sega drawings but I think maybe shorten them a bit? Favourite anim definately looking up. I already love it even though it's only some eye balls and a muzzle.
  15. Zone Names Resource Thread Alrighty, so this thread is your resource for any zone names which you're looking for. With lists of zones for anyone to use, you can choose any of them in this thread and run with them. However they are for any one to use, like a sprite submitted to sfghq. Also, if you have a zone that you'd like some help naming, submit a screenshot and explain some details which you think will be in the zone, and we'll try our best to give you an appropriate name. Please read the rules below before doing anything! Also, Reputation will be given whenever possible for quality submissions! =D RULES 1. By submitting zone names here or helping people come up with names for their personal zone, you cannot demand to be given credit ingame. This is too much of a hassle and honestly, it's not all that important that you should want credit for them anyhow. 2. You are permitted to post screenshots in this thread of zones you are creating without names, which you would like help with naming. Although please describe what sort of backgrounds / themes / gimmicks will be in the zone to help us give you a proper name which fits. 3. You can send in zone names which are containing alliteration or without alliteration, it is up to you. 4. No stupid names. These zone names are for serious Sonic games only. Please follow this rule to keep this thread from turning into a joke, which it is not. This is a resource. Updated: Please, use your discretion with this rule and submit zones you yourself would use in a serious fangame, not something ridiculous or absurd which someone would use on a joke game. Try to remain serious. 5. There is no calling dibs. Meaning, if you choose one of the zone names on this list to use in your game, it doesn't automatically become yours and yours only. These are free for any tom dick and harry to use, and are not exclusively given to any one person. So go nuts. Once you submit it, I'll eventually add it to the list. I'll start this off, shall I? The first list (subsequent lists will be posted on other pages): Second List is on Page 5! Action Edge Aerial Asskicking Zone Amber Forest Zone Amber Skies Ancient Aquarium Autumn Rust Baghdad Blitz Zone Beach Bliss Beyond the Blackhole Zone Black Brain Zone Blistering Desert Zone Blooming Delta Zone Bone Border Botanic Basin Zone Botanic Bluffs Zone Bundled Badnik Canyon Carrier Carnivore Cavern Zone Chaos Crypt Zone Chronic Constellation Zone (See Shadix's Description Pg. 2) City Edge Zone Coalition Complex Zone Cookie Crater Creamy Crowbars Zone Creepy Castle Creepy Cave Zone Crystal Mine Crystal Port Zone Demolition Dojo Zone Deprecated Dale Electric Eve Energy Engine Fanatical Factory Fantastic Factory Final Frenzy Zone Floating Fortress Zone Flutter Fleet Forbidden Fence Gleaming Glaciers Gradient Park Zone Grand Gaiden Green Park Heat Hub Hellfire Hills Zone Holiday Hills Indigo Ocean Zone Insane Ignition Ivy Road Zone Jigsaw Jail Jungle Bungle Zone (Yeah this one just sounds weird.) 16. Not sure if you've figured this out yet or not, I haven't read all the pages. But this doesn't just happen with Nexus. I've found it happens with a lot of games. The problem is that it opens the file, but I believe it runs it in a temp folder (the app only you selected) and none of the other files. This happens with all games I've tried that rely on other files and especially in other folders. Windows is a ___ like that. By the way, this is by far the best retro game I've seen to date. Let's see how XG runs up against this. Must say though, as far as entertaining, classic games go. This absolutely cuts the mustard. That mustard was sliced right in half. Edit: Wow, I was censored.
  17. Like DW said, there is no simple level design in SA, let alone SADX, which improved the complexity. But I think I know what you mean, just remember to keep your design simple yet dynamic. The one thing no 3D sonic game is yet to do properly: platforming.
  18. Yeah, nothing. A lot of games are like this, but regardless, I still found Heroes a fun Sonic game.
  19. Not helping. I think gameplay wise, this is fun. But I always feel sad when I see other backgrounds from other non-Sonic games. Don't ask me why, I just feel it cheapens it a bit. Hate me all you want, I just think sticking to one genre would increase the quality in this instance, especially if it's going to be a non-sonic rip. Stick with one style and have a go there. Swapping between advance style graphics and early genesis ones isn't helping.
  20. These days Sega seems to be very trustworthy when it comes to making Sonic games which can: A: Be completed in about an hour. and B: Are so fucking easy they make me gag for a refund. This game looks completely un-challenging and bland. Sorry had to say it. Good parts, maybe the fact that you can beat the crap out of things? Maybe.
  21. There really was nothing that wrong with heroes. It was different but still fun, imo. Anyway, I've wanted a heroes engine project to emerge for a long time actually. I'm very excited for this. From the video the character selection seems to be flawless. Demo soon plz. Don't go too overboard with the team actions though. Anyway, good luck.
  22. Bravo. First Sage game I played (excluding an early Mario Kingdoms) and believe me, I was impressed. The second zone is everything and more than I expected. I think however without any intro to the boulder you wouldn't know it's coming really. I just assumed I had to run because things would fall and when I saw something behind me coming really fast I went psycho. I think the improvements to the first zone are awesome too. I have to agree though, the first boss is a bit tedious. And after about four hits I just thought it could have ended. Or if after a few hits, he gets harder? Increase the challenge? I dunno. Anyway best game I've played so far. Well done.
  23. "Chances of winning one in ten thousand." I like those odds. Anyway for those of you who haven't seen it: Sonic 3's commercials were bitchin'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq50GliP-sE
  24. Your Sonic model makes me feel a bonar coming. Seriously, the model looks exactly how I've wanted Sonic to look in a game since DX actually. Make this an awesome game.
  25. I'm guessing you want to import the icon into gm for something. Specify what it is? Does it have to be an .ico file for what you're looking for? And Boo mspaint. Please stop using it. I know it's taxing 'acquiring' photoshop, but there are freeware, watered down versions of photoshop on the net. Google it.
