  1. I swear, that simplistic shading effect (the one on the diamonds) is just my favourite style ever. Like, really.
  2. You can't fool me. Even though… perhaps I maybe should take a look...
  3. Ah, I remember this thing as an engine demo. Great to see it come to something, that's for sure.
  4. Well, it was only a few taps on the keyboard, so no biggie. Personally, I'd prefer classic rotation anyway.
  5. It really depends on what you're using for the rest of the game.
  6. @Kessler12 Damn, your squares really turn me on. And so do your menus. (not to mention that sexy logo)
  7. I remember the days when Sonic Nexus existed... Good times.
  8. Well, that screenie begs to differ. Your sprite(s) look very good indeed.
  9. And another gripe I have to note: There's no shading around the circumference of the loop, which makes it look flat. If nothing else, try to make it seem less like a paper cutout. Here's the kind of thing I mean. But that's a much smaller complaint. Your best bet is to work overall on the shading.
  10. Yeah, if I'm honest, the foreground tiles are flat and untextured. Take a look at something - for a random example, Emerald Hill Zone. Look at the way the tiles have been textured and shaded: And then look at the way the ones you have are: It does look rather more flat. And then look at the shading on your Metal Sonic sprites and it becomes apparent that they're more detailed. There we are, I think. Then again, I may just be speaking bollocks.
  11. Well, I can feel the effort you've put into it. I just have to wait a few days so I'm less completely broke and can afford to buy it without going hungry
  12. (I'm writing this while bobbing up and down to Up and Dawn.) Listening to some different tracks, I rather like this stuff. I'll be happy to throw a pre-order your way some time soon. Oh, and Perennial Plant sounds bloody fantastic.
  13. Well, then, I'm certainly excited about this project. I love how it looks like the Genesis games with an extra 50% of pizzazz.
  14. I'm perturbed by the cutoff on the edge of the platforms.
  15. I'm sorting it now. --- Woah! That is fab! Loving the textures, particularly on the word "ADVANCED".
  16. ...I think it's time for an appropriately lengthened squeal of anticipation...
  17. According to Lake on the Sonic Retro thread:
  18. I think it's the middle one that's mis-shapen, and the bottom one looks mis-shapened because of it. I'm going to fix that now.
  19. Oh, I see! Cheers! Now I can see it, I can't unsee it… There, I've edited it on my computer now. It was the font "MEGA MAN", in size 32, so it's probably something to do with the way the font was assembled, rather than the way I drew it. I just didn't notice.
  20. The apparent blue/red gradient is only there on the version I uploaded. It was an accident that occurred when taking it from the main document it was a part of. I just didn't notice it. So, cheers! I probably won't reupload it again, I think that would be excessive. Pardon?
  21. I think the right term is an "LCD font". At least that's what I assume. What exactly do you mean by distorted?
  22. That's much better, thanks! I think it hit me just before I saw you posted that that the red needed more blue in it. As far as I'm concerned, that's sorted it.
  23. Now you mention it, yeah, the blue is a little too dark. It sears my eyes where it clashes with the red. So… +1 for updated version: Not sure if it's any better. I usually don't have much problem with colours, but I've had a hard time trying to discern a less clashing colour, or at least a more suiting one. As for the HUD, well, I've tried lightening the palette, but it doesn't quite give the effect I wanted: It looks like it's been compressed - and it's not, that's how it actually looks. Not too keen on it myself. Anyway, thanks for the feedback!
  24. Cheers! ------- Here's something else I knocked together in a few minutes. Tried a few different palettes. Liked this one the most.
  25. Something very trivial indeed; but I'm creating an alteration to the classic HUD - an extension of the original. I've got two different shadings for the numerics, and I'm not sure which I prefer. One has more detail, using two colours for shading (the top one), the other only uses one colour for shading (the bottom one), and I feel it separates it more from the "SCORE, TIME, RING" section than the top one does. Which do you like more?
