  1. Let's not forget Nintendo has the new strategy of not telling us anything beyond 12 months at every E3. Which would make sense why 3DS hasn't been announced now but would be this year. The vitality censor being a sole exception which was likely put their as a small sneak peak into the next peripheral. What also backs this up is they gave out dev kits around February this year to certain companies, one anonymously spoke about it very vaguely, however it did come from a credible source. This gives devs just over 12 months to try out the system so they can make announcements at E3 2011 for a bunch of games. They'll probably roll out more dev kits at the end of the year. Also the article is from Kotaku which would give it a bit more credibility then the average source, however with all the quotes and misquoting, it's hard to take this article seriously. To those who think 3DS sounds crazy, look at the leaked information before DSi was announced. It looked just as silly. No one believed Nintendo would put a camera and media player in their handhelds.
  2. From what I've heard, Kanto is pretty fleshed out this time around.
  3. That was a left side driver's seat, we drive on the left side as well.
  4. I came here both for showcasing and criticism. Not all forums this is posted in offer criticism but I'm really happy with the amount of detail both Worm and Slingerland have given me, it's really helpful. If I remember correctly Slingerland, you do a lot of technical work behind the scenes, so its great to have someone experienced have a good look at this. Clearing up a few things Time management is probably one of the most important things I need to look at and try and fix before my next attempt. I'm not using it as an excuse for why some things aren't up to par in my film, I'm simply pointing out my own mistake and doing so should be able to help me in the future.
  5. Hey guys, just recently today I released the short film I've been working on over the past 6 or so months. This is a short film that follows the life of a girl named Natalie who is outcast from society because of her homosexuality, following her struggle of trying to live a normal life. Asking the question of why she and other homosexuals are shoved aside. This short film is not out there to greatly contract religion or attack it, it is questioning how we treat these people. I would love to hear your feedback both on these forums and on Youtube Please comment and rate. And TY to Cyber Rat for directing me here.
  6. Edit: Moved to the art forum and created a topic, link: http://www.sonicfangameshq.com/forum/showthread.php?p=118864#post118864 Thank you Cyber Rat.
  7. I was rather disappointed that apparently there is no planet x / Niberu or aliens mentioned in the movie. There was a lot of potential for this movie story wise and it could have pulled in a lot of whack job theories to create something interesting. Instead however its pretty much just destroy everything for the sake of it.
  8. It's been popping up in the news a fair bit that a skit on the Australian variety show "Hey, Hey, its Saturday" was out of line and raciest. HHiS recently returned to Australian Television for a two episode reunion after being off air for nearly 10 years before which it was on air over 28 years. In a segment called Red Faces people could apply to come on the show and do a small skit that was then judged and the winner would receive a reasonable sum of money as a prize. In the final episode, a group of 6 came out in a skit called "The Jackson Jive" came out and performed "Do you feel it". This featured 5 men wearing afro wigs and painted their faces black. The other one, who played Michael Jackson, painted his face white. This was designed to be just a small amateur version of the Jackson 5 and give everyone a bit of a laugh (Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k739n2VEsbA&feature=related). One of the judges of the night, Harry Connick Jr, when asked to give the skit a score rated it 0, saying it say raciest, offensive and would have no place on American Television. There was another small reaction the day after from a few (very few)Australians but what got me was the attacks the American media made against it. People have been imitating the Jackson 5 for years, infact this same skit, done by the same people, was performed on the show 20 years earlier and received no controversy. Why is it now, that this day and age, that this skit was offensive? And why are Americans in such an uproar out of it in comparison to Australians and other nations? And also Harry Connick Jr... why did he need to be apologized too? Edit: Can someone fix the topic title?
  9. I'm just curious with all the talking up you've given it, will it be realized in the game. Only time will tell.
  10. Honestly I don't think SEGA are gonna get it right any time soon. There will be a few more games that "take a step in the right direction" before another good Sonic game is made. Besides waiting for the light at the top of the trash can, the only other solution I think is to lend the rights for sonic to another company who can do it right.
  11. Well I don't live in America so perhaps the info I got exaggerated the situation. But I was mostly interested in how others thought about this game apart from it being a pile of crap.
  12. Today I was doing research into violence in the media and for an assignment I choose to research into the Columbine Massacre as oppose to something like Grand Theft Auto. Those who know, know that the Columbine massacre sparked a flame war towards violent movies, violent music (Marilyn Manson was depicted as violent) and violent video games. And debates rose about how these forms of media effected the children responsible for the massacre. The mainstream American media bombarded anything to do with a slightly possible violent sub culture. On the sixth anniversary, something even more controversial popped up. A game was made called: "Super Columbine Massacre RPG". Know most of you are either in shock or are laughing at such a ridiculous idea. However there is much more to this game then you may think. Super Columbine Massacre RPG has the player playing as the two gunman on the day of the massacres where you wake up before school and actually prepare for the attack. You do many tasks which for this discussion I shall not name because all this may be confronting enough for those who haven't heard of this game but you can find a list of the various tasks elsewhere on the web. The second half of the game has the two gunman in an imaginary world of video games mostly made of Doom but has appearances by famous icons like Mario, Pikachu and Megaman. Now alot of you may now be disgusted by even the idea of this game, it does exist but it is not a game that trivializes the deaths of the innocent people. The game's narrative is carefully laid out and is designed to get you in the mindset of the killers. It provides a very clear suggestion of why they did what they did; they were enacting an ideological demonstration through a terrorist act, and the game shines light on this as an indictment of the American dream and way of life painfully close to the main nerve. It provides great social commentary on American society. It is a game that makes you understand how people become like that because of bullying. The game's creator was also bullied and he made this game so other people can learn their side and show that they were not evil people (evil in the sense on 100% bad). It really shows how a bullied kid's reality is totally distorted. In short, its the story no one truely cared about, everyone else just wanted to pin blame. So my question is what do you think of this game? You can find out more info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_columbine_massacre_rpg . Do you think that it is just insensitive to the victims or do you think it was one of those true rare games that tells an important story that everyone should know? If you think a book would do better I would disagree, an RPG is the perfect platform to voice a story like this and it really shows the distorted reality and mindset of these two young boys.
  13. I always felt that keeping the rings from each level to pay for bonus goodies worked fine but whatever floats your boat.
  14. I agree, it is just too detailed compared to the rest of Sonic's world.
  15. Could this get any more epic?
  16. Fingers crossed for a game with Cream, Guns and Vehicles... you know you want it...
  17. I don't get whats wrong with the robots which debuted in heroes. One of the very few good things in the new sonic games are those robots. They're in Sonic Rush so they're already spirited, they fit well the next gen 2D games whilst also keeping the cartoony genesis feel and barely anyone hates them. I'm not in the SFG inner circle so perhaps its just lack of a sprite sheet avilable but I'm sure someone can rip them if you really want them and push for it.
  18. After looking over her profile as well as the fact she's only just 13, I think we can come to the conclusion that she is not a proper developed human being and thereby not fit to make judgments. She got over-the-top excited over meeting a boy who said he liked her. She obviously is still very young and immature and has no interest in anything pre-2000. Everything on her profile suggests that she lacks a broad scope of thing around her and therefore we should not worry about her judgement. In 4-5 years time she will probably look back and see what a tool she was (and not just things Sonic). Just like I did.
  19. Blame Shadow, Guns and Bad Music? It's a shame that so many retro games back in the 2D days are being ignored by current fans and even put down. Same goes for other franchises such as Zelda and Metal Gear. Especially in the case of Sonic where Sega brings out crap on a disk then claim its a game. I agree with this comment and I'm struggling as to why Sega wouldn't go back to this formula. Sonic 2K6 would be an ok game if they actually fixed the gameplay and took out Elise. Back on topic though there are stupid little preteen shits all over the internet with their shitty opinions and claiming they have a right to voice them. It's a shame and really unfortunate. Logic and reason will not get through to them. The only thing to do is argue once then leave, hoping maybe one of them will realize their position and make a more intelligent stance in the future.
  20. I have to say one of the great things I saw in this video was the music. Its was fantastic.
  21. I think Twitter was fine until Celebrities stumbled upon it. Now Twitter is filled with crap about celebrities. Following your friends Twitter can work quite well, say they post a "tweet" about a party they are throwing next Friday night, people subscribed then have the details for it on their phone and computer. However after celebrity influence, people have been trying to copy them by posting when they butter a piece of toast. With small time productions (such as web tv) and small time games (including fan games), you can be updated when a new episode releases or when a new demo releases right away, of course you can always check forums but people like the convenience of being notified. Another example would be The webseries: The Guild, had signed a new deal with Microsoft to produce another season they then twittered to tell they're fans that they were going to make another season. They known the big fans would want to know asap, so Twitter updates like that are part of their fan service. To sum it up Twitter is a tool which has been mishandled by mainstream media and Hollywood, which are trying to latch onto anything Web 2.0 in an attempt to be "down with the kids".
  22. I have to say I agree with most of the comments so far. People always create what they think is best but they don't have to voice it so loudly. The engine is good and interesting but doesn't fit Tails that well and looks like it would just be a massive shooting spree. However there are two other characters this could fit well with a few adjustments to the weapons, Gamma and Omega. Yes I know these characters are the more hated characters in the Sonic Universe but I think these kinds of weapons could really create some interesting gameplay for them. Also its very rare we see either used in a fan game so it could provide a uniqueness to your games.
  23. Very nice engine and very interesting looking gameplay for Shadow, however I agree with Slingerland on the choice of robots.
