Sir Euan
Hello! I've had these pics on my pc for a while, never really thought to show them here, but I was chatting with rael late last night and he liked them, or he said he did anywas (the sly fox), so I figure people here might appreciate some of it. Anyways, I've got some pics of a handful of my art folio from my last year of school (ended a couple months ago) I don't know my grade yet, but I find out in August, on my 18th birthday, hope it's a good present =E! So my folio was kinda mostly influenced by the london bombings last year In July, Not so much the events but more the aftermath, how they events have maybe changed the way we interpret the atmosphere of previouly benale situations, like subway carriages and train stations, buses and the like. I don't want to get to much into it, cos I've been rambling on about this theme for a year, time for a break! My main influences where Barbara Kruger, Andreas Gursky and Andy Warhol, so maybe look them up on wikipedia or something to see where some of my ideas are steming off from. If you don't like that side of it, then I hope maybe you can appreciate the art just for what it is, appreciate the effort/style of it. Ok, so one of the first things I did was take bloody millions of photos, like 150 around Glasgow, my home city, and I took some of these and developed them into things like photo manipulations lino prints, ink drawings, pencil studies and screenprints. Im done talking now, Ill link you cos theres a lot of images, and I've already got loads of text. (this is only a handful of my stuff, the whole folio is about 35 A1 mounted sheets) http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/wearenotafraidphotomanip.jpg photo manipulation, underground carriage picture http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/afraidpencil.jpg pencil study of above, trying a kinda extended depth idea http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/wearenotafraid.jpg ink drawing based on we are not afraid photo, A2 size, drawn completely with 0.5mm pen thingy http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/busphoto.jpg Photograph I took on a bus http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/destination.jpg A2 ink drawing of the bus, again with that wee pen, totally http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/john.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/bustreet.jpg couple photos i never used in my folio http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/station.jpg pencil pic of a trainstation, im missing a copy of the original photo just now http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/deliverance.jpg 2 screenprints, this was from a the unit deliverence (there was 7 units in my folio, each using a different base photo and headline/story and name starting point) http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/stairphoto.jpg start photo for ascension http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/ascstudy.jpg couple pencil studies of it http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/ascention2.jpg pic of the felt tip study of it, this is about 80% done here, the dotty texture was not finished. Duckboy
I like the drawing bits a lot. The photography bits however... Only one of them I thought were very good (http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Sir_Euan/bustreet.jpg). May I ask what kind of camera you're using? Becasue if you're just using a normal digital camera and are interested in photography, I would suggest looking into a better one designed for photography. It was just a cheap digi cam, I'm not really wanting to go into photography (starting graphic design in college after the summer), I just put those up for references sake. Thanks though =)
Rael0505
You know I wouldn't lie to you, Euan. ;P Great stuff, I'm very impressed by the drawings. I love the shading, and in destination, the thick outlines are done very well. When you first showed me it, I thought you made it in photoshop or something. Keep up the good work. I'd like to see more.
Aaron C-T
This is all completely awesome. Save for the pictures, but that's already been resolved. Umm.. I assume by "folio" you mean "portfolio," yes? I thought those were generally not supposed to be inspired by the same thing? I'm trying to make one of my *decent* 3D stuff and I was under the impression that things were supposed to be pretty varied. So I've done interiors character work, texturing and other stuff. Or.. are there types that are supposed to make you look at one idea multiple ways? Just a question.

Well, this is just for my advanced higher art portfolio, I also did a written unit in art and another 2 folios in Graphic Communication, A magazine for the CAD folio and a 3d model and technical drawings of a sega nomad for the 3d folio.
