Mobiethian
This is the first time I have ever accessed Wood Zone in 2 player form. From the stage select, I selected Wood Zone and this is what I got: I never seen this before, has anyone else? I'm just very curious. But the tiles are all screwed up. Spike
I never even knew that was possible... Pretty cool.
Mobiethian
I never even knew that was possible... Pretty cool. I didn't even know it could be done either until it happened. I'm trying to backtrack what it was that I did to get it like that. I have a save state if anyone is interested. And it looks like there's some mixed designs scrambled in the bottom half that I have never seen.
XeroNazoBlaze
I had the catridge. Presing A + Start, you had access to the stage select mode and selecting the stage with the B button, you had access to the 2P mode. I tried this on Casino Night and Genocide City (?). Mobiethian
You're right, I just tried it. It's pretty interesting. Any idea what those odd designs are on the bottom half of the play area? I don't think I ever saw those anywhere before. EDIT: Possible left over graphics from Genocide City? or perhaps even a slight bit of some other zone we don't know about? Eh, i'll probably be proven wrong. Mobiethian
i thought there were never any graphics found for Genocide City? It's a complete mystery to me, it sure would be nice to have something found, if possible.
Cyber Rat
You know, I just realized it's called Genocide City. I mean, I knew it was called Genocide City, but this is the first time I actually thought about it being called that. What kind of name for a zone is that? Other than sounding cool, what the fudge is it supposed to mean? Sonic commits war crimes in Robotnik's city?
Scarletdark
Genocide city sounds a lot cooler than "Hutus vs Tutsi Zone"

Other than sounding cool, what the fudge is it supposed to mean? Sonic commits war crimes in Robotnik's city? very very funny you mention this as well, lol. I remember a loongggg time ago, when i first heard about Sonic 2 beta, i showed one of my sisters the titlecard for the lost levels. She looks at Genocide City and says "Wow. No wonder they cut it out the game." I never understood it when she said it, but then you actually learn what Genocide is... ...I dont see how it could have possibly been made into a level to fit the name. Without hundreds dead bodies littering the zone or something, anyway. I think they chose the name because of its consonance but didn't realize what they were doing. I can just imagine it actally being released and a bunch of children walking up to their parents going "Hay mommy whats GENOCIDE mean?"
XeroNazoBlaze
@Serephim: I was trying to get access to the stage select menu using the Sonic 1 cheat, but simply pressing these 2 buttons, the menu appeared anyways. More info about the level.

LMAO That would have probably created a bad name for Sonic and likely turning the parents against it.

DJ espeed
@Sockman: MAN. That should be turned into a song. It'd be epic. I can see it now! "Let's go to Genocide City Where the grass is green and the girls are... *instrumental break* dead! The scene is sure pretty Blood drops in the green and then a random...*instrumental break* head!"
