In my opinion, doing Sonic Pocket would be much better, if not just to keep things easier on your end. The more likely you are to finish the game, the better. ;>

And about your sensor problem, I'll see what I can do to correct that in Delta while I'm stuck at school.

Edit: I must be blind, because I never noticed that Sonic Worlds always sports offsets for the sensors. This means you can just go into Player Initialization, and change the offset values of the sensors to be closer to Sonic. Then, if you shrink the main green mask and the red collision mask, you should be all set. =]

Maybe you could apply the Pocket level order to the Genesis style game?

If anything, I think the "foreign" element makes it all the more appealing. Not that there's anything wrong with Genesis *coughmegadrivecough* Sonic graphics.
