Ryan the Voicehog
Hey everyone, My name is Ryan the Voicehog, i'm new here. I have a question about Sonic Shuffle. Does anyone know how to extract the voice clips from the game? I really want those clips.
USC
Hmm...well, if you can't find a voice pack somewhere, you could always use an emulator like Chankast to play Sonic Shuffle on the computer (with your prefectly legal copy of it, of course). Then, just record the sound when you hear it.
ClassicSonicRules
Have you looked for sound files on your DC disc? If you can find the actual sound file, I can see if there is a way to extract sound.

ClassicSonicRules
OK, so I have done a little searching, and it appears that there is a file called ADXVOICE.MDT and it contains many (all?) voices. From what I can tell, you can open it using adXtract. It should dump the voices to ADX which can be converted to wav using a number of utilities. (Such as adx2wav.) There may be other MDT files that contain other voices, but I don't have the game so I can't tell. Hope that this helps.
Spike
Sorry, man. I would take a look at it (and I tried) but my Sonic Shuffle disc is so dusty that it literally won't even read.
Ryan the Voicehog
Thanks you so much But i'm still missing the victory cheers after a mini battle. It seems not all MDT have ADX files.
ClassicSonicRules
No problem. The primary music format used in the DC is ADX. There may also be some type of PCM used for sound effects/voices, but I am not that familiar with it. AdXtract may work with files other than MDT too. Just look for ADX, SND, or something similar in the filenames and give it a try.
Ryan the Voicehog
I have tried the other MDT files, but these were unsuccesful: BGMEVT.mdt BGMNG.mdt BGMSYS.mdt CMGSE.mdt JINGLE.mdt MINIEVT.mdt MNGSE.mdt According to Cube Media Player, they do have audio clips, but no ADX But I can't use CMP to extract cause it crashes constantly. Isn't there a tool that can extract any file extension from any archive?
USC
Try getting a program called Mod Tracker. Start a new project, and import the .mdt file into it. It should show a sound wave with a lot of static in the beginning, followed by the actual sound effect (although you may have to readjust the pitch elsewhere). Ryan the Voicehog
I can't find. Isn't it called Modplug Tracker? Or do you have direct link?
USC
Yeah, it's Modplug Tracker. I'm thinking of the folder I keep it in, which is just "Mod Tracker".
Ryan the Voicehog
I tried it. It's quite difficult working with the pitchshift. Is there another tool?
USC
Probably. If you'd like, save the original files you get as .wav and upload them; I can take a shot at fixing them.
Ryan the Voicehog
Yeah, that would be great. I've uploaded the files: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CA90MIMA
Ryan the Voicehog
Hey USC. It has been a while. Could you still try fixing them?
USC
Wow, just noticed this again. Sorry, my life got rather "complicated" shortly after I tried to fix your sound files, and I completely forgot. Unfortunately, I don't think I was able to get anything out of it. You might try going to the S2Beta forums and seeing if they've ever hacked Sonic Shuffle; at the very least, they might be able to tell you what to do with the files you currently have. Good luck.
