  1. Once again. Thanks for contributing your input. Now excuse me while I go confess my sins. :/
  2. It's not the competitive factor. It's the type of game that I just don't enjoy playing, kinda like Age of Empires. But thanks for contributing your insight.
  3. Believe it or not, I've only played Starcraft twice in my entire life. Didn't like it. Edit: I came up with the name thinking it would make a unique company name when I was fourteen. Yeah, go figure..
  4. Kinda hard to lose on something so subjective. There are just opinions. I don't even know what we're arguing now. But you win DW. XD I don't care anymore.
  5. Yes, in my opinion. And I think that's where we disagree. I'd rather school or get schooled with/by a top tier character than have a dull even match anyday.
  6. To inform those who didn't know of Sakurai's intentions with Smash. Which don't agree with those of the gaming community might I add. While Brawl is no doubt much more balanced than Melee, I don't think the Smash community will ever revert back to Melee. My personal belief is that if it's a fighting game, it's competition, no matter what.
  7. Well of course Smash is always going to be competitive. That's not what I'm saying. It honestly doesn't matter whether Sakurai wanted it to be competitive or not, he's created a fighting game, people are going to compete no matter what. It's the fact that he knew about the game's more advanced techs, and then took them out in order to create a more balanced game which in turn took away from the game's depth and ulitmately lowered its competitive value, in my opinion. Obviously we don't share this viewpoint, but hey, opinions are like butt-holes.
  8. http://76.9.5.204//showthread.php?t=162416 It's actually a forum I frequent, if ya like to get technical.
  9. lol Nice assumption. I got it from a website, DW. Not the magazine. But seriously, wavedashing is one tiny thing that was taken out amongst a heap of other things that added to the Smash Bros. competitive nature. But w/e. Backing out of a discussion for a trivial reason is always so convenient.
  10. Mature, DW. You've obviously never tapped into the potential of wave dashing from Melee. And believe it or not, wave dashing was intentional for the more hard-core players. Evidence sufficed by an interview with Sakurai. Page 62 of May issue of Nintendo Power, second paragraph "Nintendo Power: This is one that a lot of hardcore Smash Bros. fans have long wondered about. Was the ablility to "Wavedash" in Melee intentional or a glitch? Sakurai: Of course, we noticed that you could do that during the development period. With Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it wasn't a matter of, "OK, do we leave it in or do we take it out?" We really just wanted this game, again, to appeal to and be played by gamers of all different levels. We felt that there was a growing gap between beginners and advanced players, and taking that out helps to level the playing field. It wasn't a big priority or anything, but when we were building the game around the idea of making it fair for everybody, it just made sense to take it out. And it also goes back to wanting to make something different from Melee and giving players the opportunity to find new things to enjoy." Or does this not matter now, since you're no longer listening to the only person citing sources?
  11. HAX, DW! Sonic SUX. lol Nah, it's kinda pointless arguing the whole "who's bettar than who" now, because the series has become so amazingly balanced compared to melee and the 64 version. No matter what the match up, with two skilled players it seems like it's always 50/50 match. Sakurai has finally done what he has set out to do with the series in the first place. He himself said that he never intended to make Smash into a competitive franchise, but rather a party game that's appeals to the majority of gamers. Much like Mario Party where everyone has a chance at winning and "enjoy a hearty good laugh" whether you win or lose. (Hence the slower paced gameplay, lack of combos, l-canceling, wavedashing, and the addition of the dreaded tripping.) All of this is much to the competitive community's dismay, of course, which I happen to be a part of.
  12. Tool - The Pot & Snake Eater, introduced to me through SSBB. Great song. The lyriced version from MGS3 is even better.
  13. Right, I understand that it requires a different style of play to be good with certain characters, but even so Sonic's overall potential seems a little lacking in my opinion. Not to mention I find that Fox's edgeguarding game is vastly superior to Sonic's. Shine spiking ftw. Anyone seen One of the best I've seen so far. He makes excellent use of Sonic's killing moves. His b-air especially.
  14. Bleh, Sonic doesn't do it for me at all. He's fun to play as, but difficult to kill with. I think I'm still gonna be loyal to my Fox main as I have been in both the previous titles, regardless of how nerfed he's become.. with Wolf as a close second, because his moveset is damned Godly.
  15. That's much harder to execute against skilled players, but you're right. It works.
  16. Eh, I think Sonic's mid-tier at best. (Yes, I'm one of those annoying competetive smashers that doesn't like to play with items on and takes the game way too seriously.) He has an extreme lack of kill moves save for his f-smash, d-smash, and b-air, and even those require quite a hefty amount damage to actually kill. However, I find the blue little monger has quite abit of combo potential compared to most characters. Especially with his ability to chase competitors straight into the stratosphere with his up-b.
  17. Happy Birthday. You oldbie you.
  18. Metal Gear Awesome 2 Good for a few laughs.
  19. Hmm, it seems Lucas has an edge over most characters from what I've seen. Does anyone plan on recording these and posting them up on Youtube by any chance?
  20. Ah fair enough. Nevertheless, a foundation in Illustration will do all the same and more in the sense that it will prepare you for the industry better. Oh, and accredidation for an art school means nothing. You don't go to art school for a degree, but the education. All a company cares about when hiring artists is what's in their portfolio.
  21. A fair warning, Streak: If you're interested in actually making a living off of your art career, do not major in the fine arts. Consider a major in something the industry will actually want you for, such as Illustration, Graphic Design, Visual Development, or Computer Animation.
  22. Nitemare: As of now I'm entirely self taught. But I plan on attending the Ringling School of Art and Design in 2009. Serephim: XD LinkG07: And you mine, sir. And you mine. Thanks. :]
  23. Haha, no worries, Streak. I'm in the same boat as you. I was applying for Ringling School of Art and Design down in Sarasota, and although they said I'd get accepted right away based on my artwork, it turns out I'm too late for recieving any grants or financial aid for it. Therefore, I'm deciding to sit it out for a year instead of recklessly shooting myself 20k into insta-debt my first year. Me and my bud are still moving down to Sarasota FL this August since we already have an apartment reserved. But instead of going to Ringling my first year, I'm gonna be working full time and equipping myself with some grants and scholarships before applying for the '09 fall semester. Which is a shame, really. Ringling's campus is so goddamn beautiful. D: Oh, we're also searching for another room-mate to help out with rent. So if you become interested in going to Ringling, let me know.
  24. Good memory, Rael. Yeah, I had long hair once upon a time. Had it cut late July of last summer. And that's hair spray holding hair up... I couldn't believe it either. lol John Travolta. Not the first time I've heard that referenced to me. XD
  25. Kain: Thanks, I appreciate it. Streak Thunderstorm: Thank you. That's what I strive for. It is always a great compliment to be called an inspiration. tentril: Yeah man, go for it! Remember, you can only excel in your artistic abilities. DimensionWarped: You better f*cking believe it. :]
