  1. So this is a topic for people who watch anime and are well, interested in it. If you're not interested in anime or don't watch it, please don't waste everyone's time, including your own, by crying about how much you hate anime. No one cares. That said, the reason for this topic is because I wanted to share with you all a particular internet location that is downright amazing. I don't know if everyone is aware of this insanely awesome gem of the internet, but it has an insanely large catalog of anime available for streaming and goes by the name Anime Crazy. It's all full episodes, they even have later seasons of Sonic X in japanese instead of that french crap, as well as a couple hundred other series. Most anime episodes have multiple mirrors listed as well, so if it doesn't play, you can select a different anime crazy mirror and watch it anyway. But even more importantly, is that the streaming is high quality. Rarely have a I seen an episode be grainy or hard to watch, yet the mirrors are fast enough that buffering is a rarity. That said, here's the link: http://www.animecrazy.net (Note, if you want to see anime that isn't a "currently ongoing series this season, scroll down a bit and click "anime list" on the sidebar on the right to check out their full catalog. It's huge.) Also, Wesker pointed out a similar site: http://www.watchanimeon.com So in the interest of giving this topic a little more purpose other than plugging an excellent site that should be very useful to many who visit here, what kind of series do you guys love and hate? What do you guys recommend in particular? Don't suggest anything already on Adult Swim or Cartoon Network please, everyone already knows about those. Naruto, Bleach, etc. are freaking everywhere, it's not a mystery that they're popular (whether they're actually GOOD is another discussion). Let's say, try give off a list of 5 anime that you think a lot of people may not of seen, that happen to be pretty damn good. But if you got less than 5 or more or whatever, that's fine too. Give it a whirl folks. Maybe we could consider a community "viewing" of a particular series for us all to discuss as a group? That could also be interesting as well. Might be hard to get off the ground though, so I'm throwing that out there to see if there's an real support for the idea before I seriously attempt to organize something like that. Point is, there's a lot of good shit out there that people know nothing about, so I figure this is a good opportunity to really engage some people in new stuff. That said, here's my list of things you should be watching: 1. Katanagatari - Fucking amazing. Stars a swordsman that doesn't use swords. Not entirely finished though, there will be a total of 12 episodes, 1 per month. It's up to episode 9, but each ep is an hour long and there's no cliff hangars, so even one episode is very "satisfying". 2. Buso Renkin - Kinda weird at first, but develops into one of the most impressive anime series I have ever seen. Real brutal later on and loaded with highly impressive character development and classic YAAHH PFFGGGHHH! explosive type action. 3. Cromartie High School - This anime is straaannngggee. Bunch of punks beating the crap out of each other in an environment filled with more freaky stuff than Jersey on a Friday night. Has robots and shit. 4. Fate/Stay Night - Magic, swords, explosions, a quest for immortality and old school romance. What else could you ask for? 5. King of Braves: GaoGaiGar - The king of Giant Robot anime. This series is possibly one of the greatest epics of all time in any format of story telling ever. Well, most of it is. Sadly the one draw back to it is that the first, meh, I'm gonna say 15-20 episodes are so are rather average. Sure they're somewhat important as they set up the story and introduce the characters, but it's just not all that great at first. After wards however, the series explodes into a level of epic awesomeness that ought to be downright impossible considering how the show starts out. There's a reason it's so celebrated in /m/ over on 4chan. (eww 4chan) I could go on and on, but the reason I said 5 as the recommended number is because I could go on all day and I'd probably "use up" a lot of the ones someone else might want to list. Edit: Adding some other places that people have recommended for finding anime at: Edit 2: As I say in a post below, try and add a short description to what you recommend to give everyone an idea of what they're gonna be looking at or at least listing genre
  2. I'm still waiting for someone to try making a rhythm based SFG called, Sonic: Fo' Shizzle My Nizzle! Now that I've successfully killed any future name humor with the worst joke ever, no more watering down the kool-aid. Seriously, it's starting to taste like generic brand "fruit drink", like they'd shamelessly serve to you at elementary school events. As for the real reasons for this post, I just wanted to say I -STILL- like the quill movement being ultra exaggerated. Gives it a more "cartoony + organic" feel. That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it. But you know what? It's P3dro's game. He can do whatever the fuck he wants with it. Well... as long as it doesn't violate Brazilian sexual misconduct laws. Which is the other thing, a couple people in this topic who will remain quite nameless in this post are bein' a bit pushy. Don't get me wrong, I ain't saying this in any sort of 'official' fashion or anything silly (and retardedly excessive) like that, but don't you guys think P3dro should be able to do whatever he damn well pleases with his game? Regardless of certain aspects that certain people seem to be very vocal about not preferring? Yes, I know it's awesome and everyone wants it to be as perfect as it can because the game looks so freaking amazing. I get that, I feel ya' there, ya' know? It's hard not to insist on something that would "perfect" it in your eyes when it seems to be a notch away from sublime awesomeness already. But keep in mind it's his game, he and his team can and should do it however they please, regardless of fan commentary. I'm not saying anyone should feel guilty or anything, but I just wanted to point it out, so that y'all can keep it in mind. Not just for this game either of course, but for all of them that our creative talent in this community chooses to kindly share with us all.
  3. I would. Make a new game and make it not suck so ba-*bricked*. In all seriousness, while SA1 was a great for it's time, re-releasing SA2... they better make some serious improvements. Maybe get rid of or make optional emerald hunting while they're at it <.<
  4. Hmmn, perhaps you are correct on that, but to be honest it seems to flow quite naturally to me. Gives the quills a more "alive" feel. Frankly, I kinda like it. Although it might also be that it's just windy. I mean, look at the sonic CD ending, 1:58 - 2:13, they move quite a bit there. Though I suppose I can see what you mean, in that it is a bit more movement that usual. Either way, I like that they move a lot, as I said, gives him a more organic feel. Ohhhhh, NOW I see what you're talking about, though I had to REALLY look really close to notice it. It is I suppose a little unusual, but it's kinda hard to notice. Most of his blinks look like the classic dashes except for that first one where they do look like they kinda shrink. However, be that as it may, my bad for misinterpreting the meaning of your previous post! =O
  5. Well, we (the staff) were discussing way back a forum based shop that let you "buy" things like highlighted post, user title colors and nifty things like that but it fell to the wayside as an incomplete and non-implemented concept. I'll talk to the guys and maybe we'll look into it and see if it's possible to revive that idea but, no promises okay? Also I just want to point out, apparently this topic is evil, as it's topic # is 6666. (look at the url)
  6. I'm not sure what people are really going on about as far as what it's being based off of. It's obviously old school Sonic CD/Sonic OVA classic hedgehog and his quills are quite bouncy in all of those. Now as for a bit of commentary towards others: AMT: I think he's referring to the fact that you've been posting in reply to every little contradiction someone says to your commentary with a simple one sentence line that doesn't really have a lot of relevance to the topic. He's probably annoyed at the fact that your main complaint seems to be the difference between classic Sonic and "modern" Sonic and all your comments so far have more or less stemmed from that. Even though he previously stated a while back that he was going for a Sonic OVA feel. The ear line thing... honestly I don't even see what you're talking about. In other words though, stop taking it so seriously and being all defensive, ya' know? Also keep in mind that his english is somewhat skewed being a non-native speaker, so take his comments with a grain of salt and not 100% literal, ya' know? Chillax bro =O That said though, I am a little irked by your "present it to SEGA" comment and would very much like to direct you to a sticky topic related to that kind of very dangerous thinking: http://www.sonicfangameshq.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3939 And keep in mind homie, while may comment may seem a bit critical of you, it's mostly just friendly advice, so keep it real and don't wig out on me, alright? Felik: Really? I don't really see a problem with the pupil blinking. It gives Sonic a more fluid "cartoonyness" that I think works really well for him. It accents his sassy attitude and feeling of outrageous speed, by giving him a sort of "slightly distorted reality" essence that makes him more fun. At least in my opinion. P3dro: I got to say P3dro, this game looks more than just a little impressive, it's downright amazing. I can't wait to play a demo. I absolutely love the feeling of speed it seems to have in the game play videos and the supporting graphics are jaw dropping! I would be more than happy to offer you hosting for the game if you want a reliable, fast, direct link (no redirect page) means of distributing your project, I got a rather nice sepwich account. As for your model, I think it's quite possibly one of the most unique and impressive depictions of Sonic in a game yet, yet still manages to stay very true to the ORIGINAL hedgehog hero we all know and love. Much kudos goes to you for this impressive feat of stylization. It's very refreshing to see classic Sonic back once again and with such quality and excellence at that. I haven't seen anything of this caliber as far as bringing back the old school hedgehog since the updated sprites for Sonic Robo Blast 2. You have an excellent project going here and I really can't wait to see it! Edit: I also would be interested in hosting the soundtrack for this game for ya if you'd be willing to release the individual tracks because the music is fucking amazing.
  7. Hey typos happen. Thanks for pointing them out actually! + rep!
  8. Good show Overbound. Good show indeed. Rep being issued proportionately for each of those links. Next time, just reply to the topic though and say, "Does not conform to guidelines" in the reply, or "Below basic quality standards" (obviously the standards aren't that high but your judgment in those examples was good) or "Link is dead". That will bump it to the top of the topic for easy clean out. As for Act 2 or Act 3, meh, either or. Act 2 is the primary focus though right now.
  9. Here's a direct download link. This doesn't have any wait times or annoying download sites, just a straight old school dl link: http://pc0.sepwich.com/Sonic_Worlds_Delta_V1.2b.7z
  10. Why has no one repped this dude for posting all these? D: Seriously though, epic collection of content. The main site no longer does demoes but a "Classics Collection" like this isn't a bad idea at all! I'll see about maybe adding those at some point in some manner.
  11. Hey, always good to get a couple more. Good stuff Tent. Also, once again, looking to encourage everyone to use the rep system even more so. Just start rating anything you like or disapprove of accordingly, don't be shy about it!
  12. ooo...good catch. That one's...missing half of it. XD Also, had a typo. The idea is to make the later ones longer and more...epic sounding obviously. A lot of them are cool sounding anime and video game quotes and what not, for those who happen to guess what series they're from, epic bonus cookie for them. Some aren't as cool as I want them to be though, thus the call for more suggestions! There is now a total of 52 titles total, ranging from -60 all the way up to 300 rep points. Most are in divisions of 5 up to 160ish or so, where it becomes divisions of 10, After 205 or so, it becomes increments of 15 until 250, where it becomes increments of 25. So far my favorite is: -Do you know what Jesus said in John chapter 5? He said, “Don’t bring me any trouble, bitch!"
  13. There's a TON more rep ranks out there for a lot more rep values. You only need 5 rep to get something different for most people until you really start hitting the huge values. This makes rep way more interesting and cool, so start doing cool stuff and start getting fat rep points you guys! It makes a lot of cooler differences now! Also I'm adding more as I go, so any suggestions to cool ideas as far as possible rep ranks go, will be much appreciated.
  14. Correct indeed good sir. You must of missed my other post in GD on just that specific subject. I'm working on it but I don't know if I'm going to be able to do all of it on my own, there's quite a lot of stuff there and the uploading process does take a bit of stuff to do. If you wanna help out with that, volunteer in the topic SFGHQ Submissions Clean Out. I've sorted through a lot of the content and have eliminated a lot of the "already finished" stuff, but there's still around 70+ submissions to actually go through still, most of which will need to be placed on the site. Putting something on the site does take a bit of work, probably about about, mmm anywhere from 4-8 minutes worth depending on how it was submitted. (File Factory and similar sites are making it EXTREMELY difficult due to their download limits and wait times especially) While that may not seem like a lot, if I'm lucky enough that it averages out to say, about 5 minutes each, It works out to about 7 hours straight of JUST adding to the site, when you take into account looking stuff over to make sure it's legit and that it follows necessary guidelines, that 7 hours turns into even more. Now, 7 hours may seem to a few of you like it's not too bad, but keep in mind that's a generously low estimate, doesn't include file front wait times and I got a lot of shit to do these days. That said, I'm going to keep working to chip away at it, but a bit of help on it is going to really go a long ways. I'm going to try and dedicate anywhere from half an hour to an hour a day to it when I can, but I can only do so much on my own before my brain explodes from it all. I'm sorry this happened and got so back logged in the first place, but it seems our old submissions maintainer mobbed out a while back and no one noticed before the problem got out of hand. Not that I'm bad mouthing that individual, because they did a great job for the period of time there were still about and put in a lot of work, so I can't really complain. Regardless however, fact is I need a hand or two with this and for all the people going on about how bad it is, I'm not seeing very many volunteers here. It's easy to say "Dudes you gotta fix submissions" and I do agree with that entirely, but I'm not really seeing anyone stepping up to say, "I'll do it!", though understandably, because it really is a daunting task at the moment. As a result, this is going to take some time, a couple of weeks at least, maybe even more by the time Act 3 finally gets cleaned up all the way. That said, we will almost certainly be seeking a new submissions retainer soon. This would be a somewhat permanent position and will offer certain mod powers and epic rep points. I will post something in the near future related to this so that people can apply for the position, once the details are ironed out with the administrative team and a proper application is written up. However, if you're interested in the position go ahead and PM me with why you think you'd be good for the job, how well you could maintain the submissions and so on and I'll see about maybe getting you a bit of early consideration. It certainly won't guarantee you a spot but it'll put ya' first in line to be looked at for it more or less.
  15. Unless by demo you mean tutorial, I don't think the main site is accepting demos anymore at this time. IIRC, we decided on quite some time ago that we'd only be posting "full" games on the site from now on. Unless I missed a reversion back to the old ways (it sure doesn't look like it), I'm rather sure we're still not doing demos on the main site. Complete games only. =O
  16. So I'm going to start wading through the massive back log of submissions and trying to get things caught up. Obviously this is going to take some time. That said, I'm putting out the call for a volunteer or two. I got Act 1 under control and should have it totally done in the next day or two. Act 2 is the real mess at the moment. All I need is someone to help me by going through the posts (old ones first) in act 2 (Act 3 can come next after we finish act 2). If you (as one of my volunteers) find that the topic definitely does not conform to the posting guidelines or is for some specific reason not usable, all you gotta do is reply! Simply state "This does not conform to guidelines" or "This doesn't work right because the <insert reason like download link doesn't work here", in the reply. No longer functional download links is especially a big culprit here, so check those in particular. This will bump the topic to the top. I'll be looking for the names of those who specifically volunteer at the top of the forum topics and quickly skim through them so I can quickly annihilate no longer viable submissions. It'd be a grand help indeed! To mods and admins with site maintenance powers: If you wanna help me out with this by actually adding stuff, your help would be much appreciated / sorely needed UPDATE: After a great deal of sorting I've managed to really lighten the load. A lot of this stuff was previously added or partially added already, which made for a quick finish for well over half of this stuff. Graphics still has a ways to go but it's Act 3's tutorials that are going to be the real pain in the ass but it's gotta happen some how. However, despite that, the number of submissions needed to be worked on is much lower than originally anticipated, with most of the work now cut in half. That said I still need some help going through all this stuff and any help would be appreciated. Rep points will be issued in great abundance to those who assist.
  17. That's a nasty skin condition you got there bro. May wanna invest in some sort of cream to try and clear that up a bit. Maybe get one of those fancy spa treatments while you're at it.
  18. Hahahahaha what? XD Dude, you're trippin', the site's always taken a back seat to the forum. SFGHQ is a place that has content that is primarily derived from it's own community (such as games made by said community), so the forum has always been the focus because the forum is more or less the primary communication medium of said community. Frankly, the site is and always will be a resource deposit for the most part, that's what it's good at anyway. No need to try and make it the focus of the place. Why try to fix what isn't broke? As for the site getting redesigned, it's been through a number of incarnations here and there over the years, (seems like 50 but it's probably a more modest number like 7 or whatever) remaking it yet again just doesn't seem necessary at this point to be honest. Maybe an addition of some sort or some sort of skinning sure, but I can't really say much either way to be honest. It'd be nice sure, but I wouldn't say it's necessary. However if y'all wanna get together and put a new coat of paint on the place for us, there's probably room for discussion on the issue.
  19. If you were to hit Alt + Ctrl + Delete while playing an MMF2 game and click the performance tab, is your available ram low or processor usage really high? If so, check processes, see what's using all the resources and let us know. I know it's kind of an obvious bit and a shot in the dark but it may of been over looked. May shed some light on the issue even. Just a thought cause at this point I'm out of ideas since everything I could possibly think of and more has been covered by gsoft.
  20. I actually had talked to Ben a few times on the phone, that's how I got him to come down to SAGE in the first place for us. I gotta admit I was quite upset (and still am) when I learned this news. Ben had a lot of talents actually, ones that a lot of people didn't really know. He was a great voice actor, even made a few fan trailers for a movie (as the narrator voice), for a contest and it was amazingly good. He had a lot of great stories to tell too, be it involving Ken Penders retarded commentary to throwing oranges at his co-workers. Ben Hurst was an amazingly creative dude that was down to Earth and dependable. He did what he said and that's a lot more than a lot of psuedo-famous people out there these days. A great man passed away and only a select group of people have really taken notice, it's a bit of a shame. As ila said, he was one cool dude. I suppose in this circumstance, saying "he was one way past cool dude" would be quite appropriate. The fact that he's gone instead of some of the more worthless people on this planet is a damn shame. I hope some of you youngin's on this board who weren't around for SatAM, take the time to actually see what he did with Sonic. SatAM is actually quite good and worth the watch if you consider yourself a Sonic fan. Give it a few episodes to get into the swing of things tho, it's admittedly slightly wonky at the very start. (isn't most series out there based off a video game?) I know certain people disliked the series, but I find that it's mostly because it's "not the same" as classic "sega sonic". That or they associate it with the monstrosity produced by Archie and people like Ken Penders. *shudder* Despite that though, there's a reason the show is recognized by so many as being awesome and for those of you who haven't seen it, buy the dvd box set if you can afford it. If you REALLY can't, I'd say download it and buy it when you can (buying it supports the series =O). Whatever you do, make sure you watch it. It's worth it and doing so honors a great man.
  21. You know, this may sound really retarded and it probably isn't going to work, but I recall a bloke with a similar problem a LONG time ago which he solved by running the games in compatibility mode. Not sure if he used windows 95 or 98 or what sort of compatibility mode, but APPARENTLY it fixed it for him. I don't see how or why, but you may as well give that a whirl just to try it. Probably won't help though.
  22. I'm like Batman. I pop out of the shadows from time to time, when I'm not too busy being billionaire Bruce Wayne.
  23. Well as much as ristar may of been a bit harsh and condescending, you were the one that wigged out and started calling names etc. Honestly though, all he did was criticize the fact that you didn't even do a freaking google search dude. Spriters resource and other are right there on the first page man, he's... kinda justified in kinda "wtf dude"ing at you. Granted, apparently, according to you and slightly implied by his post histroy, Ristar's actions MAYBE could, maybe, be considered to be "trolling you". Maybe. Not without any reason, but maybe.' So here's my decision. I'm going to ask Ristar, politely, to try and avoid making too much trouble with you, but in doing so, I in no way admit, accuse or state any wrong doing on Ristar's part. Ristar, would you please try to be just a bit more polite, just for the sake of keeping the peace and making this a more...happy place? Be a good sport kinda thing, ya' know? Again, not saying you did anything wrong Ristar, I'm just sorta asking you nicely just to ask you nicely. Not out of administrative function or anything, just... to be neighborly. That's all I'm gonna do, I'm not taking any official action here because the only one who's really done anything questionable here, is AMT and frankly, it's so minor and petty that it's not worth the effort. So...... yeah. If AMT does something lame and you feel the need to criticize him on it, just, I dunno, be less harsh so the kid doesn't have a stroke. As for you AMT. Stop taking things so damn seriously buddy. Harassment? Come on bro, it's the internet. Instead of flipping the lid, pointing the finger and going OMG HE HATES ME, why don't you try relating with him a bit? Like, if you said, "LOL my bad bro, I don't know what I was thinking. Wasn't trying to pass the buck, ya' know? Any advice on how to piece these together properly then? I'm not trying to make others do the work for me, it's just I'm new at this and not quite sure where to start" or something to that effect, I'd bet Ristar here would be a lot less aggressive towards you. He criticizes you, you get defensive and goad him on into being more critical. After all, you DID call him an asshole and all that. If you want these conflicts to stop, ESCALATING and participating in them is NOT the answer. On an actual serious note though AMT, if you want anyone to take you seriously, you NEED to stop saying "u" and shorthand like that. Because honestly, it really makes Ristar look extremely justified in smack talking you because it makes you look REALLY unrefined and... ghetto I guess. This is a forum, there's no rush to type your message, take your time and write properly. Noobspeak just advertises you as a noob, stop that crap if you want to be respected. Cause right now, it's VERY hard for me to take anything you post seriously when your sentences run into a "u" or an "r". People are treating you like a n00b, because you're painting yourself as one. Capitalize those "i"s, make those "u"s and "urs" into proper words, use "..." less and throw in some question marks and real punctuation instead. Do that and maybe you won't look like such a fool homie. Not trying to be a jerk bro, I'm trying to help you out here 'ight? Change your attitude towards how you communicate here and I bet a lot of people, Ristar included, will change their attitude towards you. That said, play nice kids. kthx.
  24. SF vs Tekken is a bit lame tbh. Honestly, I'd like to see SF vs Mortal Kombat, simply cause those were "the" two big competing fighting games way back in the day, it's destiny that they do battle. Tekken, along with DoA, didn't have the epicness that SF had with it's attack. They both went for the "more realistic combat," which tbh, if I wanted that I'd go for a Bruce Lee movie or something. When I play a game, I want to do something outrageous, like shoot fireballs or electrocute bitches. SF vs Soul Calibur would of also been highly acceptable (all they'd have to do is make the SF characters faster with the SC characters doing more damage to compensate for the lack of a blade). Hell, wtf ever happened to Battle Arena Toshinden? That'd of been a great match! Perhaps even REALLY go all out and try a Capcom vs Konami? Contra, Castlevania, Badlands, Shao-lin's Road, Dark Adventure, Mystic Warriors, Metal Gear etc. They'd have a massive amount of content to draw from. Or even a Capcom vs Toei! Kenshiro from Fist of The North Star would be the most epic fighting game character of all time (he's been in a few arcade games though)! Then there's all the other anime series Toei has done, everything from DBZ to One Piece. It'd be outrageous! There's tons of better choices than Tekken, I dunno why they picked such a let down franchise for their next vs game. =( As for those saying Capcom vs Namco, probably won't happen because there was already that came out only in Japan, which, while not exactly a fighting game, was fucking awesome!
