  1. looking good, just a couple of nitpicks on my part: - the sonic sprite has an inconsistent size on some thing, and is a bit blurred where you have shrunk him - the custom swing/spike thing you have looks a bit weird; the shading is off, the outline makes it look flat, the back support needs to be shorter than the front one from that perspective - look at the one where sonic is sliding through to see what i mean - the background needs ground; otherwise it looks like the entire level is floating in the clouds, kinda wired for a beach level. try having the ocean fade into the background maybe with a few islands - look at the Sadv1 1st beach level, or even green hill to see what i mean. you could try some parallax with that too - the diagonal tree looks odd, for a start no tree would grow like that (phototropism and stuff) and it doesn't fully connect with the ground; either have is bending up or just keep them on flat surfaces - i'd make the scale for swinging more contrasting maybe - green, yellow, orange, red, darker red. looks promising, keep it up!

  3. i like Big Boss, he's pretty awsome, i'd like to see them expand more on his fall into to 'crazyness' though. MPO:2 perhaps? the thing about metal gear i like though, there is no archetypal 'evil guy', and the good guy isn't always doing it for the benefit of the world, merely to maintain the status quo. who's to say that if the various villains had succeeded the world would actually be a worse off place? better than the standard fare of today, 'OMG terrorists are going to blow shit up, go save the day, bitch'
  4. i'm not really feeling the fountain of blood, but otherwise looks pretty cool! i'd probably have no water coming out, and perhaps the fountain broken
  5. just got myself a 'backup' of subsistence to try out the 3D camera in preparation. i'm suitably psyched, found a good place that sells PS3's for 190quid (about ~$350?), so it's a matter of time now
  6. whats more worrying is he has access to the private SCDTi page and handing out the work as his. i had my suspicions that reaper chap was blazefire, but he's gone now anyway... anyway mental_tails was a blazefire clone on SCD, so it's a web of deception, 'helping' blazefire 'work' on his stolen games. and was his brother/cousin or some shit like that.
  7. nah, the green from before works better, but keep the machines in front. hard to tell from Jpeg, but the blue looks a bit off EDIT: just saw blue frenzy's, definitely the top one
  8. ^ what he said. i agree the isometric thing probably doesn't fit so well, but he needs to round it off at least. did the section at the bottom look any different, or not noticable
  9. and the S2 green hill boss, no that i think about it. and of course the cave level from there (maybe even hidden palace, the missing level)
  10. i dunno about re-making, if he makes the outline a bit more subtle it should look less 'cartoony'. EDIT: made a quick section of it: changes - switched rock outline to darkest tone on the rocks - lined inside of outline with 2nd darkest tone does that look less 'cartoony' velik BTW, i absolutely love the background looking at it again, c'est tres burney. interesting style you've adopted and goes together relatively well. EDIT2: i'd also take a look at that sharp edge on the side, either round it of with a couple of complete rocks or go for a pseudo 3d effect:
  11. try flying battery, the conveyor belts + shizzle could be used for mining equipment. also metropolis zone (i think? the city one from S2)
  12. swinging back OT, the mockup was pretty good pedro, one thing i'd fix is the outline on the rocks, the black makes them look incredibly flat. try making them a very dark shade of the brown on the rocks, and see how that works out. i'm interested to see how the girder bending works out, keep it up!

  18. i'd sit and play through MGS2&3 before picking up, i gather it probably won't make as much sense otherwise. does mgs4 have anything todo with portable ops? or is that ignored

  20. ok, that's over 9000 times better, although maybe make the background a tad darker, but not doing so wouldn't make much difference. i'd definatly go with the top one, it looks extremely cluttered with all the green in the second one
  21. heres a quick slap together with a greened version of cool lava-reef, white lines from the sections i couldn't be bothered to join up aside, do you think that could work? plain black just seems awfully bland. you'd need to brighten up the blue bits i think, looking back

  23. try sticking the cooled down background of lava reef in the black area, i think that could work here. for a name, crystal cavern? alliteration always hits the spot IMO.
  24. and if your reducing the resolution ,you're going to need to scale down the HUD elements too so they don't take up half the screen
  25. i like the speedometer, its a nice touch i haven't seen before. otherwise...it lacks polish, it looks like a series of loosely connected floating platforms, you need to make it more solid. look at the original levels to see what i mean. and having sonic invincible isn't such a good idea, but now i'm just being anal =P keep at it, but still needs work. you've clearly put some effort into this though, rather than the tired 360 engine with default tiles rehashes i've seen at least 100 times (looking at you SCD...)
