  1. So all else being said and done, turns out we -didn't- have time to finish off the special stages and cutscenes to satisfaction. Oh well, those assets go on to ATS. Onwards and upwards. Enjoy the release.
  2. Lilac is fine as-is, plz make dem stages ASAP...er!
  3. Metropolis Zone wasn't all that sinister either, but I totally get what you mean. :U It's actually an interesting exercise in how different soundtracks can evoke different moods for the same visuals/experience.
  4. I couldn't get a controller to work :| Neither external tool nor the usual MMF2 Ctrl-Y could properly map. Or maybe I have downs.
  5. I'm probably going to repeat once (i.e. 2 playthroughs before fadeout) just because that's what Sonic Colors does and the OST was supposed to use Sonic Colors as a reference to start with. Yeah it's a lame reason but at least it breaks the mental deadlock I'm having. :V Have a track, been a while since I directly linked one. http://soundcloud.com/falk-2/ode-to-shattered-illusions edit: Should add that the cinematic percussion library had a bank called "exploding cars". I totally had to use that the moment I read the name.
  6. I thought having facebook tell people when their friend's birthdays were so they could spam pointless wall posts were bad enough. :grinch:
  7. *brow wipe* Well, with things rapidly wrapping up, I guess I should ask in advance just to see what's a more popular opinion. Most of the tunes are between 0:50 and 1:30, with a few outliers shorter or longer. Right now I'm planning to release the OST with (almost all of, some exceptions) each song going through once, and then fading out at the start of the repetition, which I understand is pretty short, even for a fangame soundtrack. On the other hand, repeating another entire time through before fading out may add some artificial padded length that both inflates the download size and can annoy some people. I've seen both methods used in both Sonic and non-Sonic OSTs, with songs just about as long to much longer (like 3min before repeats). There are also some soundtracks which have like 5-minute songs with proper endings, that have cropped/looped in-game versions, though obviously that doesn't apply to this context at all. So yeah, tl;dr: repeat once, or repeat twice per song before fading? I mean whoever's so inclined can make those 10m/30m/3287498234hours/etc youtube re-uploads anyway; this is just for convenience sake. Release will be in the form of MP3, FLAC, both with 'liner notes', as well as a Youtube channel with a playlist. This is probably going out a couple of days after SAGE itself goes live.
  8. If this is for external backup rather than mobility I cannot stress enough getting powered drives. They just are much less prone to failure.
  9. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/54897686/AIZC.png Oh man I'm having vietnam flashbacks of the caves in Thunder Blade D:
  10. Only thing I can say about FFXII is I can't remember -any- of its music. Literally none. Considering how I'm either a huge critic or connoisseur of a game's audio that's telling of how bland and unmemorable it was as a whole.
  11. Or you could make it code-unlockable and post the code on the facebook page. Even with second-hand information distribution that's bound to drum up more exposure.
  12. People take non-sonic music and plug it in fangames all the time. Why the discrimination? If it's entertaining, it's entertaining; Different people just have different skillsets. It's not like this stuff is being capitalized on for profit.
  13. I'm curious, what's the definition of origin here? That term means quite a large amount of different things for different people. Elemental shields and peel out, for example, suggest something not exactly 'origin' origin, if you get what I mean.
  14. ^oh boy I'm usually a staunch opponent of gradients + limited shades in the same visual setting since it makes stuff look schizophrenic (can't decide if the game should look retro or not) but you made it work.
  15. I'm really glad to see the art style gradually ditch the retro, limited-shades+dithered look. While the resolution is still similar to the golden 90's age, everything just looks a lot more volumetric and vibrant. Part of me actually wishes we'd just said 'hey let's do ATS OST from the get go' but I think the stuff I've learnt/developed while doing BTS is invaluable. ;p
  16. Yup, Akash is kinda hot property right now; working on Kickstarter projects left and right with high rollers like the original creater of MtG. -That- cardgame MtG. edit: Derp, funding on that one didn't hit their target apparently. But still, he's pretty well connected!
  17. Hahaha page just went up and you have likes from two of the biggest up-and-coming game audio people from Berklee. One's actually giving a talk on game audio for PAX Dev next month, even. I'll try to help spread the word too.
  18. Off topic: I have no idea why people keep linking S2HD to retro when they have had marginal association at the very best. On topic: Nope, I've not touched ATS at all in terms of music; commited to wrapping up BTS'12 for SAGE.
  19. http://soundcloud.com/falk-2/flying-high Gonna leave this one here. LESS THAN A MONTH LEFT OH GOD.
  20. I dunno, call me an elitist asshole but I really do believe the trial-by-fire methodology makes for better long-term personal growth. There's a fine line between constructive criticism and outright pointless farting and it's easy to mistake one for the other.
  21. "don't rely on others because nothing will get done"
  22. More than a couple of months ago we essentially got the entirety of BTS covered already in terms of planning (Wasn't too hard since the game was done, level list was concrete, etc) I definitely remember you said you wanted to contribute though; thanks for the offer!
