  1. Honestly this remake has made me realise why this game has been considered the best in the franchise. When it comes to replayability, there is sooo much to do in this game. From level exploration to just simply going through the game again and again and get challenged once more. The advancements in this remake really changed this into my favourite sonic game now.
  2. That is really nice start lake, allthough it obviously still needs a lot of work. Taking SBTS into consideration, I think you got the right idea when it comes to making a sonic game so I don't think I have to say anything lol. I haven't seen anyone do it yet with the GDK engine, but I wonder if you can like adjust the camera so it follows and turns dynamically in 3d, instead of using the mouse. That would make the long stretched paths look better I think?
  3. I think hitting against a wall and stopping isn't nesceseraly bad for the flow. I think it can be rather usefull as a warning that the player should slow down for reasons of alot of hazards and platforming. Also deathpits when used.
  4. Holy $hi!... wow... Reeaally amazing work strife. I love how the background for act 2 is distinct to act 1's with the sea surrounded with green. What would be neat is if the water animated a little bit. I was kind of imagining it unconsiously while watching the video. I loved that explosion effect at the boss. Made the whole thing million times more epic. That is some professional work there strife. I want this:thumbup:
  5. So I got the game and am enjoying it alot. The physics are really noticable, especially when you go back and play the original. The special stages are smoother than ever. A lot of props to taxman imo. Making a game is hard, but making a carbon copy from the ground up (improved even) is I think even harder. Edit: Is it me or is there no sound effect when sonic just "plainly" rolls? If so, has that always been the case(in the original)? It doesn't sound right to me
  6. I've been having issues for a month with this. Whenever I googled sfghq and directed myself here from google, it would take me to a malware page or some sweepstake whatever page. Hope this'll be fixed :3
  7. Lol wow, speechless. Thanks for making me feel better ahah:P
  8. Oh wow... . . . . ffffffffffffffffffffffff It's allright though, i'll fix it in the tags at least . Glad u liked it
  9. @Lake Yeah I guess i didn't really have time to thoroughly beta test the game anyway :$. I did give ure sage demo another 2 runs. I actually recorded the latest one, and honestly I enjoy the game every single time i go through it, which says alot about your game ^^(and this is just hte demo hehe). Check it out if you want and see how crap I am at your game . Also this was my first desktop recording so the borders are kinda sloppy. part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb9Wl634u5o&feature=channel_video_title part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-iZegEyBg8&feature=channel_video_title Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-4gcycUOTI&feature=channel_video_title
  10. Lol Well I love the vocals too, but even if they're supposed to be copyright issues(which I read at retro), I think from a commercial POV it's better this way. Sonic CD's japanese soundtrack never really got a commercial world wide release or either sold poorly because of SEGA CD flopping. I think it sounds great too though I would have loved it if they had added the melody from sonic 2 gamegears green hill zone
  11. I enjoyed generations, but i'm sure this game is gonna take way more of my time. Sonic generations classic gameplay just didnt do it for me, therefore im not so bothered to play that game more after 100% ing it. This port of sonic CD is the best thing that ewver happened. It puts the game that i love in a coat that's probably 10 times better. Better presentation, better controls, full HD widescreen gameplay and cutscenes and as i've seen in the partnernet video. The special stage became widescreen and 60fps too. The latter looking really sexy Here a video of the gameplay http://www.4shared.com/video/C5cXpSr1/sonic_cd_xbla_preview.html And here a video of the opening uploaded on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXhu3x82AF8&feature=channel_video_title SO how do u guys think it sounds without vocals?
  12. ^Lol Well i'm not really well known in the beta testing scene. If I could become one of the beta testers and look for bugs and what needs to be fixed, i'd love to . Anyway looking good Lake. Do you're best in fixing everything and if that's possible within the month, then that would be great. Don't rush it though . You're game is going to be amazing
  13. Sonic fan remix looked like a dream come true, sadly it's not going to be.
  14. LH you implemented and executed the most amazing concept of knuckles gameplay i've ever seen. Words cannot express how awesome that looked. Dude honestly i've always thought knuckles could work with prince of persia esque gameplay built around the same mechanics, but you took things to a next lvl with implementing it in a way where momentum plays a role in how high knuckles can get. I can imagine if they would implement knuckles's gameplay in a 3d game like this. No need for that treasure hunting BS. Amazing job LH. I do like to ask: what's gonna happen with the spinjump, climbing and gliding?
  15. I skipped the spoilers a page back but damn it lake, damn it!! You're making the wait harder each time I see new content. That special stage looks great!! But don't mind me, take your time bro.
  16. Ah nice. The peel out's been fixed and more. Anyway vex the music in axiom has really grown on me and I really have no experience extracting files like this (don't even know if it's possible) but would you be able to provide the music of the game?
  17. Happy birthday lake-fap-erd ^^(lame joke i know but who cares )
  18. So i've finished the game and still going for all the emeralds. THis is hands down the best fan game i've ever played. I'll go so far and say that this is the best sonic game i've played since the classics(I don't dislike the 3d games, just think they lack quality in gameplay). Replaying the levels searching for checkpoints etc made me realise how fun it was exploring the levels and get to know them more, Similar to sonic CD but I feel that sonic cd's stages are a bit more messy and I actually prefer your levels. Take that as a great compliment. One last thing. The collision detection isn't right for these platforms. Be proud vexer. The whole team behind it should be
  19. This game is excellent vexer. I have been playing this game for like 2 hours straight now and I managed to get to the The level design is excellent. You have to think about where to go sometimes, which is a good thing. It's not linear in the slightest and most of the time you have to change directions. The stages themselves aren't like really hard, but the game at least forces you to actually play well to get to the end. Wish I could see this kind of design more often in official products. The bosses are just great vexxer. They make all the life collecting worth it because they're seriously challenging, the way I like it. I died and got frustrated at a few bosses but it only made the satisfaction of defeating them better. The music for the battles is awesome btw. The bonus stages are cool but ended up getting pretty hard around the 5th I think hehe. I ended up avoiding them because they were getting kind of anoying lol. A little question and probably also a bug I found. I sometimes would respawn from a special stage and still have many rings, hitting the checkpoint after spawning, and be able to repeat the special stage. I don't know if it was because I had a lot of rings and the special stage taking only 50 rings from me. If so then cool . I also respawned somewhere else instead of at the checkpoint at a view places at the third water zone. Also respawning after special stages or deaths restart the time count. I didn't pay attention when this happens or it probably does all the time. I found it awkward because it's like a free pass to get alot of score points killing yourself close to the end. The music is fantastic. It's very ambient and kind of different from the usual sonic music. You got a good style there but i felt some energetic/happy music were missing. I love the music nonetheless and some kind of reminded me of jazz jackrabbit. I liked the upbeat drum n bass sorta track at mineral mine zone.. or something like that (sorry forgot the name). I have a few gripes though. I don't know if there will be another revision ever, and don't know if this was overlooked or intentional, but the super peel out doesn't have to be charged for it to make you go at top speed. You can just simply tap up+jump quickly and instantly release it. Thankfully the level design doesn't support spamming it like that, but I kinda thought it was awkward seeing the animation charge up while you could allready release it from the get go. There was also a little glitch I found at molten meltdown act 2. Close to the beginning there is a tube at the top left. Well that tube doesn't take you anywhere. There is also a glitch at the 9th stage which i forgot it's name of(I was writing this while playing so i'm adjusting my post) but after a special stage/checkpoint on a small platform between electric fields it made me respawn under the ground and got me stuck. All in all vexxer. I am still enjoying the game right now. I love it so much. I don't remember ever feeling so satisfied playing a new sonic experience because most of the time the games either not finished or very glitchy. I thought hez's "sonic the hedgehog classic" would give me that feeling but sadly that game was a glitchy mess which really held it back. So there's my 2 cents and I hope you can use it . Thanks again!
  20. Lol, I love the classics just as much as the next person. I just think people should realise that even if we got used and accepted the mechanics within our younger years , the gameplay could benefit from slight polish and improvements. We gotta take a step back and even be critical towards what we considered to be perfection. For example, when you get hit by a hazard or trap in sonic 1, it does very much feel like a punishment. In sonic 2 and and the next games however(though overbound does have a point about 3&knuckles), the first thing you do is spindash and jump after. Especially with the ring system (which I think lake fepard also did well with having not too many rings placed in the levels, which sonicteam does like to do), it feels like you are invincable sometimes. Unless you do care about your ring count, theres little thrill when you are able to exploit the mechanics like that. I made a quick video to demonstrate what I mean. Now imagine this with rings more far between each other and no spindash. The pit would actually have some sort of threat The new fans oftenly like to give the impression that sonic games had never been challenging and don't have to be challenging. I disagree, I think sonic 1 deserves way more recognition when it comes to this. Scrap brain zone is probably the most tense sonic zone you can go through. Plus we have save files nowadays. I could also be wrong though lol. I mean this is just how I think about it but maybe I just have different taste. Basically what i'm trying to say with all this is, lake fepard is doing a great job. If it seems a bit off topic, sorry mods.
