To be blunt, what do people think of this style: Don't mind the pose of Sonic, I'm trying to find a suitable alternate to the Sonic 3 sprite redo that's there. Instrutilus Posted June 1, 2012 Report Share Posted June 1, 2012 Well, I shaded them with the idea of an outline-like appearance so they won't blend into any potential backgrounds. Like why Sonic's blue was made darker in Sonic 1 since he blended into the water of Green Hill Zone. I'm also trying to go for a sort of cartoon feel, where the characters and the Badniks all pop out from the background so you don't feel like you've been cheap-shotted unless they're intended to hide from you in the scenery. Sparks Posted June 1, 2012 Report Share Posted June 1, 2012 I would recommend keeping it how Sonic 1, 2, 3K, CD, Crackers kept it. The Advance perspective looked weird within its own games, such as Secret Base, Cyber Track, etc. It worked better in zones like Neo Green Hill and Casino Palace because the floor tiles were designed to have their feet (and thus whole body) at those angles.
