Some background pieces are in different layers. In mmf2, click view, toolbars, then layers. then try to look between layers 1 to 3 and delete the pieces. if they are locked, just click the red padlock on the layer until it's green, meaning it's unlocked. Oh, keep in mind that layer 2 is where every piece you want to insert in the level should be. To keep it safe, try to put them in layer 5 also to keep from deleting it by accident.
