hRook
Sup? I know a lot of you listened to Riker Out back when that band was still alive. I have since began pursuing new musical endeavors, and this is the most premiere of all of them. It's not quite a new Nexus track, but I still do all the writing. I play guitar and sing in this band. It's kind of on the heavier side of rock, but I think it's pretty funky too. We're called Trigger Man. http://triggerman.bandcamp.com/ Standalone Songs "Amenities, Extremities" (Nov 2009) - http://hrook.net/mp3/AmenitiesExtremities.mp3 "Blunt Trauma" (Jan 2010) - http://hrook.net/mp3/newtrig/BluntTrauma.mp3 Circle City Suite "I: At the Fringe of Circle City" (Mar 2010) - http://hrook.net/mp3/newtrig/CircleCity.mp3 "II: A Charge Out in the Fusebox" (Feb 2010) - http://www.hrook.net/mp3/newtrig/Fusebox.mp3 "III: Counting Papers" (Mar 2010) - http://hrook.net/mp3/newtrig/CountingPapers.mp3 "IV: Wound Up Tight" (May 2010) - http://hrook.net/mp3/newtrig/WoundUpTight.mp3 "V: Life Among Sand [incomplete]" (May 2010) - http://hrook.net/mp3/newtrig/LifeAmongSand.mp3 I'd like to hear what you fellas think. Aaron C-T
Singing and playing are really hard to do at the same time. Props for that. It's a really unique sound you guys have- funky indeed. What're your influences? The Zutons?
Rawr
Wow dude so far I'm really loving this a lot. I don't have room to talk when it comes to vocals because I'm not too good at them myself, but it sounds sometimes like you have troubles hitting the high notes. Overall though it sounds good. Other than that though everything is really nice. I hope you keep doing this! Edit: So far "What You're Running From" is probably my favourite. I Really like it. Edit2: I also still like Claws, I remember you posting that a while back ago on here.
Streak Thunderstorm
Hmm. Not my cup of tea. I don't mean "zOMG NEEDZ MORE METALLZZZ BROOOTALLLL". There's just something about what you have... It doesn't seem to mesh quite cleanly with itself. There are many points where you take away from the flow you're building up and do something that audibly takes away from it. It's like driving a car and slamming on the breaks then gunning the gas again. Ugh... and the pac man thing in what you're running from hurt my soul. hRook
Pac Man thing?
Cyber Rat
I find it pointless to critique music for a few reason, so I'll just say that I dig how you guys sound (I've actually had Claws on my PC for quite a while and have been listening to it now and then). New music takes time to grow on me, but this sounds like something I would put on my MP3 player and listen to while going to school.
Streak Thunderstorm
Its not really pointless to critique music. Music is art and other art pieces get critiqued all the time. Its usually pointless for someone to critique because they wouldnt know how to offer anything constructive. Also, the Pacman thing... The fast sweeping of the muted strings. I'm guessing you're doing that on a single coil. It just sounds bad. waka waka waka waka waka. It also goes on for way too long. I've never heard those kinds of mutes on a build up. Cyber Rat
Its usually pointless for someone to critique because they wouldnt know how to offer anything constructive. Among other things. But I still think that music is a very personal experience, which you can't really describe with words (you have to actually compare it to some other music or sound to say what you mean). Hence my reluctance to offer any real critique. It's more my personal belief that music is in a league of it's own, and you can't really offer the same kind of criticism you would use for a picture, book or movie. Like I said, this is how I see it, and is by no means a rule. I've been listening to the songs some more, and so far, "What You're Running From" is the best. I'll link the album to some friends that listen to this kind of music, and ask them for their opinion.

tentril
I'm liking the new tracks, especially Blunt Trauma. Awesome stuff man.
Rawr
Blunt Trauma is amazing dude, I really liked it. I think it was your best vocal performance too. Listening to Amenities so far, its pretty good too, but not my favourite out of the two. Still sounds great though!
hRook
Just rewrote the bridge to "Blunt Trauma." I think it's better... opinions?

Aaron C-T
I have to agree with MFZB on this- your vocals on that track are amazing. The bridge/breakdown on Amenities is pretty sweet too- your music has a lot of personality to it.

Rawr
Man, this new material you are putting out just keeps getting better and better. I really love these new songs, it seems like you're really finding 'your sound' if that makes any sense at all. I've gotta put this stuff on my ipod sometime

hRook
Counting Papers is done and I added another, "At the Fringe of Circle City." Checkum.
Rawr
Circle City is badass. Its heavier than the other stuff you have at the start, and then the middle area is just a nice listen. Its just something you can chill out too. I'm still listening to the rest of the song, but really good job with all these songs dude. I wish I made music half as good as this! Listened to the rest of it and then finished Counting Papers, and both sound great to me , throwing these on my ipod now haha.
hRook
Haven't updated this in a while. Rearranged the songs a bit and added "Wound Up Tight" and "Life Among Sand." Listen to "Life Among Sand" first. It's incomplete but my current favorite.
Rawr
So far listening to Life Among Sand, and I am enjoying it. The screaming part has almost a Billy Talent-esque vibe to it, but I think the screams themselves could maybe use a tiny bit of work. Otherwise real solid so far imo . I'll listen to the other track shortly. Jeez, I wish I had a band haha. Then maybe I wouldn't feel like I'm making the same song over and over because there would be more creative ideas other than my own.
