  1. That explains why it was so easy to get the hats on, and why their dancing doesn't look very energetic. Oh dear.
  2. Happy birthday! Now let's party! *Brings in the green chickens, which all have party hats attached to their heads*
  3. My username is very special, it is a link to the whole of time and space. It allows me to see all that ever was, all that is, and all that ever will be, and it hurts, for with great power comes great suffering. I travel through time and space, saving others, and the whole of reality itself. I am the lord of time... and I've been watching too much Doctor Who. Actually, my username is just my real name, you'd never have guessed that one! When I first joined SFGHQ back in 2000, I couldn't think of anything else to call myself, and I knew everyone would recognise my name from my at-the-time just-released fangame. Sonic: The Fast Revelation was posted up on the site by Rlan on 2nd December 2000, it's almost a decade old!
  4. Oh dear. Epon has no bits 'n' bobs because Jamie Bailey ate them. At least now you can stick some sausage rolls down there, you'll never get rid of me! It can only be an SFGHQ news story, folks!
  5. Ah, that'll be why those sausages tasted a bit odd, at least the potatoes tasted quite good, oh, hang on... oh dear...
  6. Thanks everyone! It is now the day after, and after all that beer last night, I'm surprised I don't have a nasty hangover, I'm not used to drinking the stuff nowadays! It felt like a 48-hour birthday, as on Thursday, I celebrated by eating out at Smith & Western and went to the cinema, also my pre-ordered All-Star Racing came a day early. My REAL birthday yesterday still managed to be good, no stand-out present, but got things like money, scratch cards (£12 worth of cards, won a total of £44, I think my argument that they're a waste of money has gone straight out the window) and some lottery tickets. Got a T-shirt with MR. LAZY on it, a Spider-Pig (from Simpsons movie) money bank, an Addict-a-ball game, where you roll a small ball round a challenging set of paths inside a ball. Also got chocolatey items, and someone made me a LARGE, ER... CHOCOLATE COOKIE WITH MY NAME ON IT BUT NO SAUSAGES OR ROLLS OK GAG'S OVER CAN I STOP USING CAPITAL LETTERS NOW? HEEEeeere we go, that's better. My birthday cake was a DS Lite with New Super Mario Bros on it. Needless to say, I couldn't get passed the first level, the framerate was fantastic, about 1 frame, er, ever, but that's cakeplay for you. Aaaand yeah, then in the evening I got drunk.
  7. Even though the game comes out in this country today (same day as my birthday, yippee!), my pre-order arrived yesterday, so I've spent time playing this last night and this morning on PS3. Firstly it's amazing I'm actually using my PS3 for something other than watching blu ray movies (what I bought the machine for, mainly) and music videos with Vidzone. Secondly, I'm surprised how well this game turned out as Mario Kart clones are usually a bit rubbish. Sometimes I find myself doing an awful lot of drifting to earn boosts, but otherwise I don't think I even have any major criticisms of the game so far, it's bright, colourful and full of SEGA memories.
  8. *Looks through thread* The first two screenshots in this thread look fine, but then you've got a Mario that's not Mario, Shadow stuck in the Matrix, Sonic on stilts which are stuck in the snow, a screen full of Super Sonics and an image of Sonic and a spring stuck inside a solid wall... I see my insanity has been an inspiration to you all! Long live the LARGE SAUSAGE ROLL! LOL, only joking, great stuff in here! Although Spike, yeah, perhaps maybe make that background wall a slightly different colour so you can tell it's not a solid wall, but otherwise great, reminds me of 8-bit Sonic games with all the blocks! Now I suddenly want to play as an army of Super Sonics! Oh dear.
  9. Oh look, it's that toaster again! That's some funky toast you're spitting out! I like the look of those screenshots, bright and colourful. Perhaps the level could do with some trees and plants in there for extra detail, as it looks like there's something missing, but I definitely like what I see so far! I know you're not supposed to play with your food, but if you spit this toast out in playable form, I'll HAVE to make an exception, LOL!
  10. Toaster1 is indeed the first, our last toaster was a toaster1337, and no, it wasn't very 1337. From what I've heard, the toaster1 is the original and best toaster! Maybe I can get away with three green chickens at once...
  11. I would like to ask all SFGers to use toaster1 sensibly, the last toaster we had in here got broken by some numpty trying to toast TWO WHOLE LIVE green chickens at the same time... oh wait, that was me. *Shoves 758 large sausage rolls into toaster1 and begins toasting*
  12. HONEY, I'M HOME! And I've dragged my opinions back with me, all the way from the Stadium, so they can be viewed in what I still consider my internet home, SFGHQ, where they should be! "Jamie Bailey (Yes, he's been Time Attacked!) says: 6 February, 2010 at 3:21 pm Brilliant article! This is the problem with us old school Sonic fans, we’re far too hardcore and sincere for our own good, we’ve stuck with Sonic through his modern evolution, through thick and thin, through the good games and bad games, some of us have spent silly amounts of time creating our own fangame versions of Sonic while others have dedicated their time to finding every miniscule secret of those old games we loved so much. We’ve stayed through many things that haven’t been to our taste, but somehow, after all these years, the true old school Sonic fans still haven’t given up… and never will by the looks of it. Though looking at what we’ve seen of Project Needlemouse so far just as a new Sonic game, it’s fine, but looking at it from an old school fan’s perspective (which is what I am), SEGA royally set themselves up with this one. Even though they never actually said the words, they strongly implied that this would be 100% classic styled. September’s teaser trailer showed a sillhouette of the Sonic 1 title image, complete with the shape of the classic style Sonic, so for FIVE MONTHS, we’ve “known” that this game would feature a classic looking Sonic, and although the colour of Sonic’s eyes aren’t going to make any difference to how the game plays, any Sonic fan who grew up during the 16-bit era will know, there was just something magical about Sonic’s original look, a certain charm you don’t see in his modern design, he never used to have that cocky teenager “attitude” look. So that’s a bit of a slap in the face to old school fans expecting Sonic’s classic look. And I agree with the naming thing. I admit, I didn’t think SEGA were daft enough to use that name, as it’s something many old school fans have dreamed of since finishing Sonic & Knuckles, it’s a name that implies this game is specifically being made for the old school fans, so SEGA HAD to match old school fan expectations perfectly with no modern twists like the homing attack or a new school Sonic, which wouldn’t matter if they gave it a different title, Sonic the Hedgehog 2D HD or something would have been a sufficient title. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike the homing attack, I don’t mind them updating Sonic’s look for modern styled Sonic games because times change and you have to update, I liked the Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush series. Hell, I myself even created a Sonic Fangame with grinding in it, but the name Sonic the Hedgehog 4 itself specifically tells us this is (or should be) 100% old school styled, and should entirely satisfy that old dream. More positively though, once I got over the initial shock, I found I’m massively looking forward to the game(s), I’m not keen on this episodic business, but I could easily forgive SEGA if all the episodes can be locked together to make one uber game, Sonic 3 & Knuckles style or if each episode feels like a full length game by classic Sonic standards, or if they manage both, it would be “epic win”. I expected the fist zone to have a few Green Hill Zone squares here and there, but I didn’t think they’d make the whole ground design with them. But still, though they didn’t quite go 100% old school, there is a lot of old school look to this game, and I can’t wait to play it. Now this is my third Stadium post in a row and I’m starting to feel a bit misplaced from my SFGHQ home." "Brad Flick says: 6 February, 2010 at 3:36 pm I would have never expected to see you over here, Jamie. Thanks for that surprise!" "Jamie Bailey (Yes, he's been Time Attacked!) says: 6 February, 2010 at 4:08 pm I’ve kind of been drawn here a lot recently with all the Sega All Stars Racing and Needlemouse info coming out (and leaking out, for that matter) and for some reason, in my unwell state, I seem to have begun posting here too, although it looks like my “reply” up there is practically an article in itself and I’m now realising this one is more of a forum chat type post, guess I can’t do anything right, LOL._ Even if we do nitpick when SEGA tries to please us, classic Sonic fans = Absolute, bloody legends. I chose my favourite internet community well!" Oh, and one more thing... *Dogpiles Slingerland*
  13. *Eats Ristar* Now that WILL give me some food poisoning! It was also the first time I ever had Burger King, and unless I'm desperate to lose weight, it will also be the last time. As good as the Spinball Whizzer is, my favourite ride at Alton Towers was a rollercoaster called Air, which gives you the feeling of flying like Superman, although you're actually just hanging, mostly facing the ground. Even better experienced in the front row of seats.
  14. I went for an overnight stay at Alton Towers with my PA in October and the Spinball Whizzer just made me think of Sonic the whole time. I couldn't stop thinking "they should have made this a Sonic-themed ride" and it looks like I'm not the only one to think that. The car spins round as you're whizzing round the track, and apart from the lack of a loop-de-loop and an actual Sonic theme, it is exactly what I'd expect from a Sonic rollercoaster. A word of warning to anyone planning on visiting Alton Towers, on the second day of my visit, I had food from a Burger King in the Alton Towers park, big mistake. A five hour car journey home, and halfway back, I find myself with a nasty dose of food poisoning. I had constant stinking burps, my PA had to open the car window every time I burped, and I couldn't hold it back. Also I was in constant need of the toilet, and literally shooting waterfalls from my arse, so it was a constant race to get to the next toilet, and to keep getting a little closer to home. Blasted waterfalls from my arse for twelve hours, all through the night! You might say too much information, I say you've been warned! It is a good way of losing weight though, I'll give it that.
  15. The world will end in 2012, I have seen it. No words can describe how horrifying it is, but I can prove the world will end by showing you what it will look like, and this is how the end of the world will look... In other news, I saw this 2012 film yesterday and found it rather boring despite all the amazing effects. Shame really, Independence Day was and still is an awesome film.
  16. Am I late enough? LOL Anyway, Happy birthday Epon, hope you had a good one!
  17. LOL @ pink Amy skin. At least I can read the Add Reply buttons now.
  18. Ooh, we're voting in this topic now, I should look in more often. I vote for the new sprite, I like the ZFG version.
  19. Anyone who saw my birthday topic the other week will know I'm 27 now. Back in the day when Sonic was new, my first experiences were with the Game Gear and Master System versions of Sonic 1, and I was hooked immediately. Then my brother got a Mega Drive with Sonic 1, the system was naff, he sent it back and got another one, but having to play the game with rapidly flickering colours didn't stop me from constantly asking "can I play on your Mega Drive?". Then when Sonic 2 came out we had to play it on a TV with no sound, but I was still so excited by the game I lost sleep over it. Then my brother decided to get a SNES, I got my own Mega Drive and played the hell out of the Sonic games from that point on. Now I'm feeling old, I need someone older than me to post in here, where's good ol' Smidge when you need him?!
  20. That's interesting, reminds me of Sonic X-Treme. I'm just wondering how much longer it'll be before someone gets sick playing one of your projects.
  21. Happy birthday Kain! I'm such a trend setter! Now I've had a birthday, everyone's having one!
  22. Happy birthday Chaos Rush! Now let's all celebrate by rushing around and causing chaos!
  23. Thanks guys! It's now the day after, and can say I had a nice birthday yesterday. Stayed at home all day but at least I didn't have any nasty upsets like I had last year. Gifts I received included: Cards: wow, cards? On my birthday? Who'd have thought it? Money: £85, don't get as much as when I was a child. £20 worth or scratch cards: Am I a winner? Not usually. Box of Maltesers: Half eaten. Box of Cadbury Creme Eggs: Eaten a few. Darth Vader bobble head figure: Heads will wobble. Four T shirts: FOUR? And there's me trying to keep my number of T shirts down! Several years ago my mum kept whining that I was too old to wear T shirts with great big pictures on anymore, now she's started buying me them! They all seem to be retro themed, and designed to look old and warn out, I never did understand fashion. One has Back to the Future on it, with the picture of Marty standing by the Delorian looking at his watch. The other one my mum got me is one of those blue T shirts with the Superman logo on the front, I usually laugh at people who wear these, looks like I'll have to start laughing at myself. My brother and his family gave me the other two T shirts, one is Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and says "LEISURE RULES", the other one has this hedgehog character on it I've never heard of before, called Sonic, or something. And that was it for presents, I know I'm not getting enough when I can go into detail on it all like this. lol Anyway, should be going out drinking to celebrate tonight, god knows what drunken madness I'll get up to. Last time I was drunk I ran straight into the back of my mum's parked car in the dark, shame I didn't get some new eyes for my birthday.
  24. AAAH! My old April Fools joke comes back to haunt me! Thanks guys, I forgot you lot pay such close attention to all these birthdays nowadays. I was going to wait a bit longer, but what the heck, I've kept you all waiting long enough! I present to you... an early engine test for Time Attacked 2! Grinding hasn't been added yet, though. Anyone wanna be in the crowd this time? Engine version: gnimagnafcinosfoerutufehtsisihtskcussdlrowcinos God damn anti-table stretching feature got me again! TA2 Engine test.zip
