  1. Right, so I'm not the only one who is suspicious that this isn't being totally truthful.I mean, I'm tempted to find a Greenlight title getting the worst feedback possible, upvote it, and see if it still claims it's got top 100 status... but that'd mean upvoting some sort of utter garbage, blegh.
  2. Speaking of TVTropes, this game has its own page. Surprised me when I first found it, too, since I didn't think there was enough information about the game to write any article of decent value; evidently, I was wrong... Then again, there's no such thing as notability over there, so. Actually, constantly stumbling on that article over there is what reminds me to pop back over here and take a peek at progress, so...
  3. I'd definitely focus on stages first, in that case. Better to have a solid game with 1-2 characters than a mediocre game with 3+; I think Sonic Team illustrated that for us quite clearly during 1999-2008. Although, just played as Carol (the save transplant worked like a charm), and man, she is quite fun to play as. I love wall-jumping in games; so unrealistic, yet so cool. Mega Man X, Batman, Ninja Gaiden; love it all, and Carol here's no exception. I would like it if there were more cool goodies hidden up above for obsessive explorers like myself who climb tall walls for no good reason, though, or more overhangs/blockades to indicate that, no, there really isn't anything up there if you climb this wall, stop trying. I understand the stage was more designed for Lilac, of course, and that's fine, as per the first paragraph of this post, but if you ever get time...
  4. No, this was 1.0. And I'm definitely under 7, so I guess I'll just upgrade and reap my reward, assuming the save format is consistent.Out of curiosity, were you planning any other playable characters? I recall you introduced Carol and Milla at the same time... It's okay if you can't say.
  5. Demo's great. Haven't figured out how to play as Carol yet, though; I guess I have to unlock her, but I haven't really figured out how, yet. I'd guessed it was the panels (which I still haven't gotten all of), but somebody on the last page suggested it was a time attack thing? (And apparently just over 6 minutes doesn't cut it. Bleh.)
  6. I use Webroot SpySweeper w/ AV. Works fine enough for me, honestly.
  7. http://www.srb2.org/srb2_v20.exe.torrent Including new stages, such as Deep Sea, Arid Canyon and Egg Rock, a completely redone multiplayer mode, and more! Download today! Beat the rush! And if you have a moment, Digg it!
  8. Reminds me of some comments I got on my video for Damizean/Mark's 3D engine (BlitzSonic, I think). This guy, KennethMoreland, came in innocently enough: 4 months later (or so, YouTube tends to get more unspecific of the time of posts the further time goes on), he comes back, and with far more vitriol: This time I actually respond. He sent me a PM later on basically amounting to telling me to rot in hell or something; sadly, I no longer have said PM for reference. Still, it was enough that I blocked his ass. Amazing that ANYONE could be so braindead when it comes to quality games to actually prefer the newer games over the older ones! This isn't simple rose-tinted glasses, the games really are just better overall. How can people miss the point there...?
  9. And that is why I do not want one. ...well, less because he has the original fat DS and more because I do, but still. I raged pretty hard when the DS wouldn't play my rather large selection of GBC/GB games, but wound up getting it anyway, since the DS had a ton of games I wanted to play. The DSi now gets rid of my GBA slot as well, and doesn't have that library of exclusives to back it up? Not moving on until it does... and when it does, I'll probably just trade my DS and GBA in for a DSi and GBASP, I guess.
  10. Too busy with SRB2, sorry Thanks though. Actually, we just made a few releases of that, to herald the impending May release of SRB2:Marriage Edition (which, despite the corny name, is going to be the closest thing you'll get to a full version for a good while). Check it out!
  11. Depends where you look, really. I know Sonic Retro kind of fell in love with the game, and even The GHZ respects the 360 version. I myself like the Werehog in that version, and can't stand the day stages (lack of control != fun).
  12. I don't really like the trees for some reason. Not entirely sure why it's bothering me, honestly, but there's something about them... maybe the shading? Or the design? I do wish I could be less vague about it, but there's just something about the leafy part that doesn't click. Also the shading for the enemies don't match up with the shading for Sonic. Not earth-shattering, since this IS a fangame (and for that matter, the trees aren't particularly earth-shattering either for the same reason), but it does look odd.
  13. I... think they typically are? You'll have to go through the manufacturer for the official one, but third-party solutions are out there.
  14. But what isn't more cool with the kids than picking your nose? They're ALL doing it!
  15. Why did I read the topic title as "I Was In A Car Wash"? Glad to know you're okay, but this probably means absolutely nothing coming from a nobody like myself.
  16. Team Fortress 2. It's the epitome of a good online game, and it's free from Friday to Sunday. Good enough?
  17. Bump, because there's another free weekend starting Friday, just in time for the new Pyro updates on Thursday. Figured somebody'd care. I know I do.
  18. Emerald Environs? Jade Junction? Personally, for the location in that mock-up, I imagine there's a wall in the background pretty damn close to the ground the player would be on. Just a generic rock wall would work there. Of course, I'd imagine that you'd eventually want to add some depth, so I'd then make a very VERY distant rock wall, perhaps dark caves behind (a la Mystic Cave or S2 Hidden Palace), and maybe add what looks like mining equipment actively excavating the gems. For instance, you could have a rope with a bunch of platforms actively dragging gems up, with another rope with more platforms (empty this time) going down to claim more of the things. You don't even have to show where these pulley-operated mechanisms end, either - they'll just perpetually go up and down, sort of like the platforms in World 1-2 of Super Mario Bros. (but with a rope!). As for some horizontal motion, you could also have carts of the gems being transported via conveyor belts in and out of little holes in the wall, giving the impression that there's a big factory behind that wall that you're not exactly privy to. Add a few wooden planks here and there to illustrate SOMETHING holding the cave up (or metallic columns, considering you already have a metallic platform - be a bit random with their placement, as uniformity is boring and dull. Also, while the foreground should be bright, I'd tone it down JUST a tad. Certainly, the rocks in the foreground and the gems in the background shouldn't be the same color.
  19. Well, interest in this contest sure died fast. Anyway, I think I'll give my vote to Sonic 4, since I've still yet to be able to complete it... it was that or Red, but I'll give the underdog a chance here. Squiggles may have been an awful game, but it was friggin' hilarious - some of the other entries were considerably worse, so. Looks like I'm in third place now (well, a tie for it, anyway). Not bad for a first-timer... I've noticed that it really doesn't run properly on some computers, though (cutscenes unskippable, level unfinishable, and if the prior two don't occur, boss unbeatable), although I'm glad to see it's working well on most of them. Still, next time I make something seriously, I better beta test it a bit more...
  20. Well, mine's in. Can't wait to try out my competitors - I'm getting quite sick of playing mine. Especially ila's, if only because of the hype surrounding it.
  21. Just for elaboration, is there a specific hour (EST pref. but whatever) that this has to be submitted by? I think I've got most of the bulk of the work done. Just need to add a boss and maybe deliberately make it a smidge worse here and there...
  22. Seems to be coming along pretty well. Except for the part where there's no collision detection, no enemies, no rings, and basically nothing to do at all but walk left and right. Still fun to make, though. Great way to help myself learn Allegro a bit more.
  23. LostWinds SORT of interests me, but really, the one game that has my interest truly piqued is SBCG4AP - and that doesn't come out until June. Thus, I'm holding on to my 1200-or-so Wii Points long so I can finish some of the larger N64 games (Kirby, Paper Mario, maybe Sin & Punishment) before I start clearing room for WiiWare titles.
  24. Eh, as long as you don't take the concept too seriously, I don't plan on worrying. Pretty much what I was getting at.
