  1. I'm just going to dump what I know about this game in this topic: S-box locations: HHZ2 - Top left near some springs and an offscreen sign StShZ3 - Underneath the inaccessible fly box RRZ2 - Top route after a Spring Yard Spike. You have to activate it offscreen. SuStZ1 - On top of a pipe with a hard-to-reach ring box FFZ2 - Bottom route. Activate it in one of the loop-de-loop pipes. It's pretty early. Secret levels/cutscenes/other: Full menu (before beating game): Press U at title screen. Super Sonic: Press P on full menu. Original opening cutscene: Press U in level select. Hilltop Zone: Press U in the HHZ-StShZ cutscene. Starlight Carnival Zone: Mash U after Rocky Ride Boss title card fades to black. Very tricky. Bad ending: Press U during the good ending, but before the next level starts. Glitches/Replay fun: Play the game fullscreen. Weird stuff happens. Super Sonic gets a new life every time he passes 100 rings. Abuse in special stages. Press U after hitting a checkpoint, but before clearing a level via sign to prevent your checkpoint counter from resetting. Have fun on top of the levels! Air dash/Peelout glitch: Get hit while charging your peelout. You can now move freely, but keep charging it. Let go in mid-air to air dash. Evade crushing: Time a jump perfectly before getting crushed to float to the top of whatever was crushing you, be it a backdrop or an active. Many of these glitches/tricks exist in Sonic ATS as well, except in ATS the peelout glitch is far easier to execute! Dunno...just wanted to catalog these for fun/recreational use.
  2. Sonic 1: 14pts Sonic 2: 9pts Sonic CD: 12pts [+1] Sonic 3: 10pts Sonic & Knuckles: 10pts Sonic Adventure: 11pts Sonic Adventure 2: 17pts Sonic Heroes: 14pts Shadow the Hedgehog: 7pts Sonic Unleashed: 12pts Sonic Colours: 12pts Sonic Generations: 18pts Sonic 4: Episode 2: 5pts [-1] It's hard to rate S3 and S&K as separate games. It's so rare that I'll play them separately, but still a solid experience. Remind me to play SA2 on XBLA before this contest is up. I doubt I'll have to worry about playing ShTH.
  3. Idea! Instead of having this be an outright speedrun tournament, we could break it up like the Sonic 2 Multiplayer! Fastest Time Most Rings Total Rings Monitors Score Just an idea.... P.S. Can we use the S boxes in Moon Mansion and Parhelion Peak?
  4. Sonic 1: 14pts Sonic 2: 9pts Sonic CD: 11pts Sonic 3: 10pts Sonic & Knuckles: 10pts Sonic Adventure: 11pts Sonic Adventure 2: 17pts Sonic Heroes: 14pts Shadow the Hedgehog: 7pts Sonic 2006: 1pt [-1] Sonic Unleashed: 12pts Sonic Colours: 12pts Sonic Generations: 17pts [+1] Sonic 4: Episode 2: 6pts Do we add SLW in here?
  5. No airdash, Fox Only, Final Destination. What kind of rules are we going to establish? What character? Kirby power-ups allowed? Airdash glitch allowed? Actually ATS isn't narly as broken as BTS, so I can't think of many rules that would be required.
  6. The reviews drive me nuts. I want a review of the game, not a review of how it's not like your perfect other platformer game. I hate that. I really freakin hate that. /rage I'll have to wait a while before I play this game for myself, but what I've seen of the cutscenes suggests a ton of character development for Dr. Eggman. Respect for him, Sonic & Tails just shot way way up. The writers are totally on their game, despite what I've seen of reviews.
  7. Must avoid spoilers! at least until 2019 when I finally buy the game.
  8. I did that. I did it all in one run on Classic Mode.
  9. I suppose I could just unlock everything and upload the ATSave.bin file. Right now I have everything except Debug mode, which is a complete mystery to me as to how to unlock it. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. Stupid debug.
  10. Pantufa the Cat [v1.2] A Sonic 1 hack by VAdaPEGA This quite-difficult hack is giving me IWBTG flashbacks, though that may be due to the fact I'm not using savestates at all! It's an interesting hack, much like Sonic 2Z (a Sonic 2 hack for players who have mastered Sonic 2) or the S3&K Master Edition series, although I rank Master Edition to be quite a bit more difficult. Pantufa feels balanced, and v1.2 has been toned down in difficulty from its original version. The layouts, art, music and many things have been altered, which makes this game a refreshing take on Sonic 1. I'm on River City Place Act III. Damn spike physics. Sonic After the Sequel [Release/v1.1] A Sonic fangame by LakeFeperd Most everyone here knows about this game. I just unlocked Debug Mode, and I figured out the save system doesn't work properly. It's very possible to do all the related tasks for Debug Mode and not unlock it. Same goes for trying to start a new save file, unlocking secret levels, unlocking Super Sonic, and too many other infuriating things. Sometimes the cutscenes wouldn't even load! I'd be willing to blame my computer, but I know Lake doesn't have great attention to detail when it comes to minor bugs and such....even major bugs sometimes. Anyway still playing this gem despite the bugs and even because of them. 100%'d, though not on the same save file because I have to keep making new ones rawrghhhghh! I'm thinking about diving back into my console games, but I'm one of those people who likes to do LPs, but I also hate LPs, so it's a vicious cycle of starting games and never playing past the first cutscene unless I fall in love with the game, which doesn't happen often enough.
  11. If you like a focus on Sonic and Tails, read issues 56-67 I think it is. They are the best of the entire series: Sonic and Tails go adventuring around the globe in search of Ixis Naugus (when he was a cooler character) and while other characters do show up, you get a very nice dynamic of that Sonic & Tails on an adventure! (56 is just awesome and 57 is a review of issues 0-3 and 1-56). I actually drew up a draft and chain of levels for this story arc as a fangame, but it sits untouched in a composition notebook. i got sidetracked drafting up another game idea....
  12. I think I would play this game w/ Fast Forward. I can't see my sanity lasting. Maybe I'll play this in between sessions of Pantufa the Cat to help me realize I've got it easy.
  13. I'm just gonna bet on corrupted save file. I got all that stuff you said...in Level Select Mode. I think I did it in Classic Mode too.
  14. Character development's been pretty solid, but all the retconning ruins earlier issues. I refuse to believe Geoffrey ever swore fealty to the order of Ixis. It's cool for a twist, but it completely ruins his character. Yeah his character is made more dynamic now as a result, but it's at the cost of his character from early in the book. If you didn't experience those stories when they first came out, it will be completely different for you than it was for me and other people. Some of this character development just isn't planned out properly and sacrifices previous story structure. It's hard to explain for me. Instead of letting the characters write their own stories, the author is taking liberties of changing the character, but they are either subtle about it, or they explain something that didnt make sense before by adding in details that dont make sense except they make sense because they're canon. Confusing? Just move on. I'm not even subscribed anymore. I started collecting w/ the Sonic & Knuckles adaptation, and I stopped at the Sonic 3 cover (228). It wasn't intentional, but it's a pretty neat coincidence.
  15. I feel like video capture devices work a lot better than Fraps or any software I've tried to record on a PC. Dazzle was cheap for me...I've actually bought two of them....one secondhand that I gave away...and my own...lottery is bad! stay away! RTI eh? Spiffy. Guess I should stop messing around high-scoring Sonic Paint and get back to my capstone project: unnamed s3&k spinoff.
  16. Is debug mode at all related to the parhelion peak room? I broke those yellow/blue blocks in SSZ1 but nothing happened.
  17. I use Windows Movie Maker and Pinnacle Studio 14. By the way, if no one's called Sonic Spinball, I call dibs. I'm a freakin beast at that game. I could access all the multiball stages but it might take forever. Also, as it stands my mic has quit. I probably stepped on it one too many times.
  18. I'll just take a third option...get neither. My experience with consoles is I always got them about 4 years late...and sure I missed out on all the hype and cool stuff, but I also knew the best games to get and I got most of them on the cheap. (Metroid Prime for seven dollars...) I think PCs are better equipped for gaming...Kinect as part of the infrastructure is really cool for devs, but it's downright creepy...almost as creepy as Tails Doll.
  19. Ended up cheating to get debug mode...some dude had the save for download. After messing around in debug...realized there wasn't much to do when you're just floating around and skipping levels. Here's the important thing: Dem cutscenes. Especially the redhot ride - parhelion peak one. I had to stop to watch those. I had to stop to listen to some of the music, particularly the funk fiction ones and falk's PPZ3. The music and the story are what really drive this game. The level design is just a plus. For this I'm thankful for the delays.
  20. I'm pretty sure the Special Rings save globally... Also, I think some of the special acts have to do with Time Travel. Notice there was no glass in Moon Mansion Act 3S? ...and that it's called Castle Zone in the Special Act Select...and that you fight the same miniboss again.... Debug Mode continues to stump me...I thought it was related to something in DDZ2 but idk. Already know about the color order for SSZ's cameo...and the weird blocks...but breaking them did nothing!
