  1. any reason I'm only getting 10fps on this engine? I have a decent graphics card...
  2. shite I just realised I must have accidentally detuned the guitars at the end, fixing nowwwww...
  3. are they taking plot pointers from this game:
  4. jesus h. christ I've only gone and done another track. http://soundcloud.com/tunners/midnight-lagoon-area-one
  5. yeah i know! oh well! i appreciate your comments lad!
  6. holy shit, I've got some new music. I mean seriously, what am I playing at???
  7. they kept the same arrangement, just used modern instruments. the original fm sounds are still in there too.
  8. nice fucking remix. that kick and snare is amazing, like punches to the bollocks each time they hit.
  9. I'm unemployed. I'm a freelance composer, but it's not like that actually makes any money.
  10. I would like to add that I very very rarely drink soft drinks. It's sometimes what I have if I'm in a situation where there is the choice between beer and spirits because beer makes you fat like a motherfucker.
  11. Whatever I can mix my Captain Morgan's with, I don't give a shit.
  12. a lot of it can be self taught, I never studied music, just read a lot and learned stuff off the web. I use Ableton Live, I'd die by that program as there's no real "rules" with mixing stuff, there are only pointers. But something that should always be remembered is that each instrument tends to sit in a certain frequency range. For example, lead sounds should have a decent amount of mids and highs; piano, guitar etc. tend to sit in the mid to highs with pretty much no bass end. Bass is obviously to the low end with most of the mids removed and only a little high end in order to add presence; pads and soft piano tend to lay in the mid section, quite low, not a lot of bass and not a lot of high. There's loads of stuff on the internet on where things should lay in a mix, but at the end of the day you can only really rely on your own ear
  13. nice piano sound! which vst/samplebank is that? I must say that this song would benefit from some sidechain compression on the piano and bass from the kick. edit: listening to the original now, never heard it before (my colours fucks up after the candy stage or whatever). your piano needs to be a lot harder at the beginning, it also needs to be EQ'd so the majority of the frequencies below about 100Hz are removed and you maybe pump up a small range of freqs arounf the 9-10kHz range. it also needs more percussion, if you listen to the track closely there are all sorts of little percussion things dotted around. good work though
  14. that picture is meaningless unless you pooned the two of them at the same time. for a mate's final uni project.
  15. august birthdays are obviously the best.
  16. thank you! I had a great birthday, sat with my gf half pissed out of my head on snakebite and black watching harry potter 5. at least i didn't piss the bed!
  17. techno party is good! you don't know how hard it was to not somehow reference electric avenue by eddy grant. here we go anyway: I tell you what though... this would sound amazing remixed genesis style.
  18. I really like all this. I'm not on my production PC right now, but from what I can hear, the production sounds pretty tight. Not sure if maybe you could make the kick a bit punchier though. Only other thing is that I think your saw-lead should have a few more effects on it. maybe chorus->distortion or something.
  19. it's actually longer by a good few seconds I know what you mean though, it has a lot less to offer but it's all I could squeeze out of the original. this is why it would be good if others could try remixing the tracks.
  20. thanks man, it's fun to do this kind of shit http://soundcloud.com/tunners/definitely-an-electric-mound here's part 2... I had a sunset in mind.
  21. look up some tutorials on subtractive synthesis, you can get some great sounds. if you don't like Wasp, there are a few good free VSTs like Synth1 and TAL Elec7ro.
  22. are you using soundfonts by any chance? it's just that my songs started to sound a lot better once I moved away from them and learned to program my own patches into instruments. are you using FL Studio? if so, try experimenting with Wasp and DX9 or DX10, can't remember which is in FL Studio. Both of those used together can result in some really cool sounding songs. i'm not a fan of your drum samples either, try downloading a few packs from http://samples.kb6.de/downloads.php. The Akai stuff is pretty good. Another thing! Your Genesis demix needs some things changing in the following ways: -obviously levels need to be sorted -instruments that are not PSG (square and noise) can only be hard panned left middle or right. PSG can't be panned at all. -your hihat should either be an FM synth hihat or a PSG Noise hihat. -you need to add a bitcrusher to your drum samples set to 8-bit, 11025Hz. -No more than 2 square notes at a time, no more than 5 FM instruments at a time if using drum samples. technically annoying I know, but that's the key to authenticity!
  23. your instruments sound very GM Midi-like and it takes away the power of the remixes. plus the levels are all over the show, you need to sit back, listen and turn everything down a bit. Things like pads are supposed to be low in the mix, kick and snare being quite up there. otherwise I don't have much to comment on... people know I don't really have much to say on remixes unless they do something really innovative. Same way I feel about sprite edits really. don't take this as me hatin', just keep pushing yourself bro.
  24. I agree with SMG being innovative, though it had the crap tacked on Wii controls. It's probably the best looking game on the system, but to be honest I didn't find it that memorable. The boss battles were horribly repetitive (reminded me a bit of those from sonic rush) and I remember spending a good amount of time watching mario fly through the air. And look at SMG2... pretty much the same game because the first one sold so well. Honestly, they're on par with Apple's daft schemes: Change one or two elements INC NUMBER. Majora's Mask was great, it's my favourite in the series. It had the most replay value too because that was essentially a core element of the game. But that was also a reason why a lot of people didn't like the game, so they ended up just sticking to the formula that sold the most games. I was playing TP a few weeks back and just lost interest, there wasn't enough there to keep me wanting to play the game.
