  1. I'm not a very good musician but I'm really good at programming. I'll help.
  2. sonic is the reason I'm here. my grandfather is the reason I don't eat liver.
  3. it doesn't seem like you've really planned/thought this through; which is why I think everyone is ragging on you. you've not really shown anything in terms of project scale other than "might have online... might have 8 way multiplayer". I'm not a game designer, but if someone were to announce a new game and wanted me to get interested in it, the last thing I'd give a flying pissflap about is the menus. Also, the other reason people are reacting negatively is that you seem to think that the main appeal of this game is that it's going to be in japanese; something I imagine the majority of us don't care about. If you're going to do an HD remake of a game that already exists, wait until you have some actual content (i.e. some nice hi-res graphics or at least a semi-working engine) or be totally prepared to take some flack.
  4. when my lung collapsed in 2008 (for the fourth time) I had to undergo an emergency procedure which involved metal rods being inserted between my ribcage to allow the surgeon to get a chest drain in there. At one point he hit something and I jumped. That thing he hit was my heart. And it stopped. It may have only been for about 30 seconds, then they shoved some adrenaline in me to get it going again. But for those 30 seconds I had an idea what it was like to be dying. It was oddly beautiful; the colour drained from my vision and I couldn't really hear anything. Everything went in slow motion and I was just incredibly calm and happy. Ever since then, the whole dying thing hasn't really bothered me that much. I've done a lot of stuff that I'm proud of and I don't have many regrets, so it was kind of a good sign for me in a way.
  5. do you record to a click track? there are a lot of timing issues with the playing. make sure you tune up your guitar before recording and before you improvise a solo, make sure you're confident with the key. volume levels need a lot of work, I could barely hear any of the drums and the lead guitar was way too loud. best thing to do is zero everything and raise the levels of the instruments in order of importance (for me I usually start with the snare, then the kick, hats, toms and crashes; then go to the bass, then lead, then rhythm guitar/synth) your bends are actually very good though! keep on practicing
  6. Thanks again for the birthday wishes! Turning 23 wasn't as painful as I expected it to be!
  7. thank you! had a quality time. Drank Lucky Buddha Beer and played Streets of Rage 3 and Micro Machines Turbo Tournament with my mates. BBQ Chicken Pizza was involved heavily.
  8. you merkins and your amazing cereals. i do enjoy fruit and nut granola with greek yogurt and honey. or if i'm pressed for time crunchy nut cornflakes.
  9. please port to Windows Phone. I'm ronery and could do with some good indie titles on my phone.
  10. if you're not going to college/university anytime soon I'd put the money towards a sweet-ass desktop. you can upgrade it if you need to and it'll serve you well for a hell of a lot longer than a laptop.
  11. fuck having a general birthday thread. it's my birthday next month and because I don't have enough money for my usual two hookers and bag of cocaine I expect a god damn topic.
  12. I have a 320GB Western Digital passport and it has been a total sweetheart. Got me all the way through university and is still going strong. Though now I've said this it will probably die.
  13. I work at Paperchase (http://www.paperchase.co.uk). I'm also self employed (http://www.photraits.co.uk) doing paintings.
  14. did you create the original midi file yourself?
  15. Winamp used to be my MP3 player of choice, I loved hoarding skins for it and adding all sorts of daft features. Then I just fell out of love with it. It just lost its charm after v5; dunno how, dunno why but it just did. I'm actually loving the Zune player at the moment; it's got a super sweet and sleek design (plus I love my windows phone).
  16. happy birthday lad, hope you get loads of bitches and presents!
  17. we're in a time where big companies really can't afford to take risks with mind-blowing games. it's much safer to stick with a good formula and make money from that. this is why indie games are doing so well, they have nothing to lose by taking a risk with a new idea. And then when that new idea takes off, a big game company buys them out.
  18. as Michael Jackson said: "If you're thinkin' bout my baby it don't matter if you play CoD or Dragon Quest."
  19. I enjoyed Modern Warfare 2, chuck. There is a middle ground and it is called me
  20. I remember when GAME had a 360 set up in store long before I bought one for myself; they had Sonic 06 on it. I had a quick play on it (Wave Ocean) ran up a loop, glitched out of it and died. I left the store.
