  1. I'm making a classic-style game that features Shadow. If Shadow was in the classic games, what abilities would he have to set him apart from Sonic? Keep in mind, Sonic has these abilities in the game: -Spindash -Peelout -Roll and Unroll on demand Also remember that these abilities should be versatile and relevant to the classic games, not a tacked on feature. (Also, if you can think of abilities for anyone else, I'm all ears.)

Man, I'd like to play this game, as I do LOVE horror games, but it seems like one of those "dread" games, where it's scary, not in the usual sense, but in a way that you almost feel this heavy weight in your chest and you just have to quit. I might play it as long it allows you to quit without having ctrl+alt+delete. I'm gonna go play "Imscared" now, see ya.
  8. @WreckingPrograms In any other circumstance, that would probably work, but doing that in this sonic engine doesn't quite work how it should. Thanks for the input though.
  9. Hey, I'm Riseodvi. That's pronounced Ree-Say-Odd-Vee in case you were wondering. I work on fangames and other minor computery things in my free time. I've taken a liking to the classic style gameplay, but I can have just as much fun blasting through levels with the boost button down. Oh, and I love the music of Sonic games, especially from Sonic CD. Work dat sukka tuh deth, c'mon nah!
  10. level_goto_next() can send the player to the next level on demand, but does anyone know how to do the same for a specific level? Like, for a level select or to reset to the beginning without resetting stored data...

  12. Looks awesome! I read that it has KH style combat, and I could go for that any day. I like the Genesis-esque art style, and while I usually like minimal HUD's, I love it when RPG's have statistics and meters all over the place!

  14. @Jassbec Yeah, that ground is just recolored GHZ tiles... That green in the background is the sky, not a huge canopy. It looks confusing in the screenshot, but with the parallax in action, it's more readily apparent. And yeah, those are dead trees. I plan to add a few more touches and make it a bit more interesting, but I'm not gonna lie and say "Don't worry! It's still waaaay in it's alpha!". What you see is (almost) what you get.
  15. @SuperBliz He said that if he releases another version, it'll support 1.3. But for right now, 1.1 or 1.2 should be used with his engine. Oh, and Edge of Darkness is awesome, keep up the good work.

  17. It's sad that the internet can make good people act awful. I wish the best to Mr. Lange, and hopefully he can improve his behavior next year.

      Yeah, I suppose. I think 2 or 3 months would be better, then make it a year if he didn't improve. But overall, I think he needs this break. Submerging in an online community for too long can mess with your head, so I think some time away is good, whether it be 3 months or 1 year.

  19. I guess I was a bit rough on Sonic & the BK. It's not terrible, but you can't go strait from, say, Sonic CD, to this or you will suffer from a stroke. I actually liked the boss battles in S & BK, but those lasted, what, 10 seconds? I really liked the graphics too.

  22. This is a bit more of a recent example, but definitely Sonic and the Black Knight. I had read the awful reviews, but the screenshots... they just made it look so fun. Then I played it. You can loosely fling sonic aroud with the analog stick, but if that's too hard for you, don't worry; UP is the only position you'll be holding it in. Oh, and you can swing the remote in a direction and Sonic will do the same, right? WRONG! ANY swing in ANY direction will make Sonic do horizontal slash, so that "motion control" might as well be a huge ass button labeled "SCHU-WING!" I hold Sonic '06 above this. Seriously. Y'know the game that made everyone hate sonic? Well anyway, I guess Sonic and the BK had a few good things like nice graphics, high-budget cut-scenes, and the best knight-metal you'll hear in your life. Just wish they would've made, y'know, A REAL GAME.

  24. @Highwire4 Nice in-depth. To me, the hard part is capturing the essence of level and not just having a fancy-sounding name. By the way, "Havoc Harbor" is one of the best zone names in a fan game. (The 'K' sound has a strong feel to it. Like in 'Kodak'. It just sounds right.) Oh, and I wasn't trying to brainstorm per se, just wanted to get a feel for the kind of zone names I would use. (Brown Bayou? Bevel Bayou?)
