  1. LATE UPDATE Just wanted to see what you guys thought of the current zone list of my game... (You may notice I've stolen a few terms from original zone names, but alot of the terms in the games repeat anyway...) Angel Valley Arid Oasis Rooftop Ruins Tropical Fall Retrocity Circus Comet Fatal Foundry Just sayin', I didn't make these up on the fly, I made these names from my zone ideas. I have other ideas I may swap out with a few of these, but it'll probably have a total of 7 zones as is shown.
  2. OK, good to know everything's cool. I just know that arguments have broke out over stupid stuff like that. *End of Derailing* I hope you guys don't literally laugh out loud as often as you right "lol"
  3. Hey PB, not to derail or get caught up in something, I think it's fine to use the concept, but it probably wouldn't have hurt to ask for permission... just sayin'.
  4. So this was the master plan, PB? Bravo. I will warn you, though, that directly calling it Sonic 4 probably isn't too wise. Why? AH TEH YOO WAH! Because if someone searches Sonic 4 in Google, they get the DIMPS one, when they might want to just get more info on your game. It can be a sequel all you want, but a more definitive name may be in order. Making a whole new sprite sheet in that style might be a challenge, but if it can be pulled off, that'd be awesome. I'm not sure what to think of Pin. His abilities are cool enough, but he just sets me off a bit from the mere fact that he's an original character. But hey, props for making him more than a recolor of another character. Overall, looks pretty awesome. Don't screw it up. Shouldn't you bring this to the fangame showcase?
  5. Well I don't show off, don't CRIIII-TIS-IIIIZE, I'm just livin' by my OOOOOWN FEEEE-LINGS.

  6. https://soundcloud.com/riseodvi/sets/boss-battle Upbeat boss battle theme I made. Might use it in a fan game or something. I'm kind of new to making music, but I think this turned out well, sorta sounds like something out of Sonic Advance.
  7. Chat 404'd me... As for the returning Admins, it's always good to have a few more overseers, so that's good. And is P3DRO pronounced "Pedro" of "Pay-three-dro"? EDIT: Chat works now, cool beans.
  8. Thanks for the tips, Ricardo. Studying an actual movement makes sense, and I'll be sure to check out those tutorials. I never actually thought about physics and the apparent gravity in their steps when animating, so doing that would probably help in making it more realistic. I saw your portfolio, and I have to say, that is some awesome work, especially those Sonic & Shadow renders. As for my Sonic & Shadow, it's actually not in 3D, it's very much an homage to Sonic & Knuckles (as well as more recent Sonic games). It's more of a hobby right now, but I do hope to release it some time. I may end up using CG for brief cut-scenes, but it would be more work. I've tried working on some 3D fan games, but all pre-made 3D engines are either limited in ability or clunky and difficult to use. However, some guy is working on a 3D Sonic engine for Unity (which is way more efficient than other options), so I might be heading back into the 3D scene sometime. I got a bit off track there, but hey, thanks for the tips.
  9. Is there supposed to be a pic here? I can't see it... Welcome to SU by the way!
  10. I know this is kind of vague, but do you have any tips on making more realistic motions for a CG model?
  11. Ever had an error in a script for days, only to find out it was something stupid like misspelling a word by one letter? Best/Worst feeling in the world.

I know what you feel, I often think about a solution for a code problem for hours, finding out it was because of a stupid small mistake.

  12. Hey, I'm not even sure if you're still around here, but I like what you've posted. Game Maker Studio is FREE now, and VectorSatyr's engine is pure ace. Scripting can be scary, I know, but if you just chip away at it, bit by bit, you can become extraordinary (Just remember to always backup your work in case it crashes.) You've got a great passion for your work, I can tell! It's up to you, but I'd like to see you back at SU. I can tell that your ideas really mean alot to you.
  13. Looks awesome! And with how different Chrono was, I think splitting it into something non-Sonic related is a great idea. Plan on selling it or using another method of gaining a profit?
  14. That's a good point. SEGA has been known to rush development. It's likely the reason Boom at E3 was so buggy, SEGA probably pressured Big Red Button to get a demo out for E3. Man, now I feel bad about hating Sonic 4... But in the end, it's really about the user, and in this case, the user wasn't satisfied.
  15. Those were good. The thing is that, while the engine wasn't the best, they built the levels in a way that you wouldn't notice it. But when they made Sonic 4 and shoved the Rush style into Classic level design, the akward movement became glaringly obvious. Don't get me wrong, Sonic 4 was okay, but "okay" isn't good enough when it succeeds some of the best games of all time. Wrapped'n BLACK, BLACK, BLACK, Wrapped'n BLACK, wrapped'n black
  16. Sonic Prologue looks awesome! It's like Sonic BTS the movie!

      PixelClassics

Your right only difference is that no modern in bts :)

  17. Well, it's from an obscure Sonic manga now, so I guess I can let you go...
  18. I actually have that set for Sonic. Along with his uncurl-from-a-roll and peelout ability, he's kind of meant to be the "efficiency" character in that he can change from state-to-state on demand. Thanks for bringing it up though, it's something that should be in all Sonic games. Oh, and what's up with your avatar now? Creepin' me out... EDIT: OKAY YOU LITERALLY JUST CHANGED YOU AVATAR RIGHT AS I SAID THAT LAST PART WUT GIVES>?
  19. I LOVE YOU, MAN! I've been looking forever for Unity Sonic Engine! GDK? SCREW GDK! YOO-KNIT-AY! I think I'm getting ahead of myself, let me take a breather. OK, so GDK isn't that bad, Unreal is just too hard for me. And I don't mean to put pressure on you, but damn, a Unity Sonic Engine would be... AWESOME.
  20. I doubt it's Blitz, because, like you said, it's graphical fidelity is strong, especially since he casts real-time shadows.
  21. Looks awesome, and is that running on Unity?
  22. That's actually an awesome idea... and the thing is that it actually wouldn't be too hard too program. Y'know, I'm still open to ideas, but Pedro, that idea is brilliant. If I release my game, are you cool with me using that?
  23. @WreckingPrograms That mid-air dash would actually be pretty useful. As for the teleport, it seems like it would be too easy to cause glitches. I think I might use that mid-air dash as an ability... @Neo_Fire_Sonic The problem with those abilities is that they'd feel a bit out of place, though I guess a toned down version of a Chaos Blast would be cool in a boss fight..
  24. Not sure what to think of the upcoming Sonic movie. Long as it's not in "Gritty Reboot" territory, I guess I'll be fine with it. And if Mike Pollock isn't involved, I'm not even gonna watch it. >_>

    1. Neo_Fire_Sonic

      Neo_Fire_Sonic

i have a feeling that the new "sonic" movie is an elaborate joke

    2. Riseodvi

      Riseodvi

Could be, but if so, it's a damn well constructed joke.

  25. HEY-ZOOS KREE-STOH, WHAT WAS THAT FREAKY CG THING!?!?
